Holland has fallen in love with the young guns and I think, to his detriment, the *new* NHL and the way deals get done and big name players move kind of paralyzes him. He's afraid to pull the lever on a big deal.. If he goes big and it doesn't work he gets rightly critisized. If he does nothing and just points to GR then life is easier.

I'm normally pretty calm and pragmatic at times like these. Not so much this year. Yes I understand they were big underdogs. It was a competitive improvement over last year's 5 game loss to Boston. We have found a netminder in Mrazek I think is capable of winning it all. I have a confidence in him I just have never felt with Jimmy. Mrazek is my goalie going forward. Trade Jimmy, keep him as a backup (I'm not sure that's possible at this point). Datsyuk and Z have to be allowed to play for Detroit as long as they feel they can. That being said if your name isn't Abdelkader, Glendening, Helm, or Sheahan I'm listening to offers. Yep, if we can make this team better and more able to go further in the playoffs I'm listening to offers for Nyquist or Tatar or anybody not in GR or Ferraro. Defensively the back end needs to be overhauled. Kronner and DeKeyser stay (and XO & Marchenko), past that let's see what can be done. Game 7 vs Pittsburgh in 2009 Game 6 vs Chicago in 2013 Game 6 vs Tampa Bay in 2015 ALL bad losses at JLA. It's becoming too much of a habit to lose these games and not take destiny by the throat. When the Wings have had success shutting down Tampa's offense it's been mainly the hard work of the forecheckers holding up their breakouts, great defensive work by the forwards through the neutral zone have made the Bolts dump and chase which they're not comfortable with and the forwards have been helping out a lot even below the dots in their own end. If they continue to play strong, if they can give one more gut busting performance I can see the Wings winning a close one. I think the math is simple. Either Datsyuk or Zetterberg must score. Tatar or Nyquist must score. Somebody else must score one. If we get three I think we'll get at least to OT. I do. I call on the power of the 2002 effort, the only game 7 the wings and Avs ever played

Perfect. The defense is depleted terribly and Tampa has game 7 at home. So the Wings are underdogs much like they were at the beginning of the series, big underdogs. Yet they have managed to win 3 games. Tonight is house money. Nothing to lose. Like one of those series between Edmonton and Dallas all those years ago. Stay fast, play hard, run 'em over if you have to. With the way things are set up I can promise you Tampa are all thinking about winning. That's why the Wings to a man have to think about hockey.

Get the first goal in game 7 and they'll be fine. They showed maximum heart in game 5, they can get right back up on top. They didn't play awful tonight but Tampa did what a desperate team has to do. They got to more loose pucks than the Wings but not all. They converted chances better let's say that. Young Mr. Mrazek mist realize that when the Bolts are breaking in on him they are gonna shoot high. They are fixated going high when left open for shots. Clean that up, knock in a PP goal in game 7 and we're groovy.

I'm going to say this now ahead of game six so there's no ambiguity. Barring unforseen injuries and or suspensions tonight they will still well have a good chance in Tampa in a potential game 7. Not the most talented team on the ice but certainly the most mentally tough.

I'm picking the Isles tonight. Isn't their franchise record when facing an elimination game something like 35-8 or something stupid good?

CANNOT let Tampa even breathe tonight. The Wings need to come out and tilt the ice the first period. I don't care if it's only 1-0 or 0-0, wear them down, they are ready to break. Every shift, every period, make it your best. Too many times teams that go home in huge games come out flat, that can't happen tonight.

Oh we're winning tonight and the only question is by how much. I think the Wings got their legs under themselves in Detroit and aren't going to be overrun like games 1 & 2. Someone is gonna bust out for the Wings tonight with a 3 point game, someone we're not expecting. I see it in my crystal ball. And Stamkos' bike is in the basement of the Alamo!

I'm STILL with this team even though they utterly wasted an opportunity to make a statement. I truly do think they can win a 2 of 3. Just pissed it away. I think the 'should they revisit Dion Phaneuf this offseason' is answering itself. He'd be a strong addition to the corp and the way this team is built for the playoffs now another strong physical defensive-minded agitator would be perfect. We don't need a top six forward, we need a top three forward. Too many good chances coming from hard work and turning TB over are going wanting. Even one or two of those makes the difference in this series. They're not far off this bunch but what's missing is really missing. Onto game 5!
