I'll cheer for the Blues. I still have a softy spot for those 1967 teams that haven't won yet like St. Louis and Buffalo. The Blues have good fans and a good young team. I'll cheer for the Rangers and Devils to play so I can see a couple of those games but if I'm cheering for someone to win it'd be St. Louis

Yes, there IS still hockey to be played and YES we're all still on board but there has been a backslide in playoff performance, by which this entire franchise is graded, and some changes will need to be made. I'm not going to talk as much in specifics as far to much can happen on salary projections ie bidding wars, guys sign elsewhere for more/less etc. Homer, we love you, this was your last year. I'd be open to trading Franzen. We seem to spend a lot of time these last couple three playoff runs skating the perimeter while teams go north/south at the Wings. There is no bigger poster child to perimeter play an The Mule. Jimmeh thus far has also taken a step back this playoff run but only those in the dressing room know if it has been compounded by bad defense and bad backchecking. I'd sooner say the Wings would land Parise than Suter/Weber. The Devils did NOTHING once again to show Parise he's a valued guy they want to win NOW with whereas Nashville did add parts to show Suter/Weber they are serious about winning. Plus the Devils are going to undergo a little identity crisis this upcoming offseason. Rumors here in Devilland have them damned worried Parise will bolt. The Wings STILL need some top flight defense. I'm not saying you have to go find the next Weber, hell sign a couple guys like Volchenkov who block every shot and play nasty minutes. Sign a couple real attention to detail defensemen, something sadly Brad Stuart is no longer. He's been a serviceable pro and I hope he finds peace living in SoCal with his family. Extras we could consider losing: Eaves (sorry Patrick, it's unfortunate), Cleary who again gave his all but we need to get better up front, Abdelkader vexes me night in and night out. Some may have a home for him, I'd be open to trading him. On defense keep everyone but Stuart until you know what St. Nick wants to do. Then you can streamline your pairing by addition and subtraction. Is Kindl really the future? Is Smith ready for an 82+ game season? It's time like this I miss Scotty whispering in Kenny's ear.

That was stunning. I mean it looked damn good. If anyone could point me to a nice hif-def or wallpaper size image I'd love to include it in my Wings screensaver. Thanks in advance

Thanks everyone. I have a friend who is a Blues fan living outside of LA and he told me it was the coolest pregame EVER.

Thanks so much. As a jaded old timer that light show REALLY wowed me.

I don't know who I feel worse for, Marc-Andre Fleury or his seeing-eye dog. -
I HATE the Sharks homer announcers. HATE. I'd rather listen to the Blackhawks chuckleheads than these two.

I said coming into this game; 1) Score first, they did. 2) Get a goal from the third or fourth line, they did. Mission accomplished, bring it home for a dominating game 3 -

Honest answer? You need to keep both Weber and Suter AND find a way to get another frontline scorer. The Preds have the penalty killers, the faceoff guys, the defense, the goalie, they need the offense. Dishonest answer, you'll win the cup one day when your coach finally catches moose and squirrel

No, we love rubbing it in every teams fans faces, you just happen to be here.

Sorry Lenny, I'm happy to say you'll never be seen in the Cathedral known as Joe Louis Arena again. You'll never get a more "firm"position to win than a clinching game on your ice unless you're just saying "I Lenny Sankar can only show up with a 3-0 series lead."

You don't win 11 Stanley Cups taking advice from Nashville hockey fans, just sayin'

WCQF Game 2 GDT : Red Wings 3, at Nashville Predators 2
Jersey Wing replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Stay out of the box (I'm guessing Weber may have to deal with a couple phantom or borderline calls tonight since everyone wants his scalp), keep working hard. Get a goal from the 3rd or 4th line tonight and things will be just fine. I think more than anything the Wings need to get back to doing what they used to do when they've had successful runs, SCORE FIRST. -
#8 Los Angeles Kings vs. #1 Vancouver Canucks
Jersey Wing replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Watching Vancouver, probably a little bit overlooking the Kings or certainly at least the task at hand kept reminding me of #1 Red Wing seeds of yore having games exactly like that one. That eerie sense of foreboding that you're going to lose no matter how pretty your breakouts or powerplays look because you're losing loose pucks in the corner and giving up far more odd man rushes on turnovers in the neutral zone than in the regular season. What were the damages in downtown Vancouver last night? I kid I kid. I kid because I love. I have Canadian linage. My grandfather was an RCMP Mountie in Regina in the early 1900's so I can say such things -

In reading the comments about a certain underperforming barnyard animal I guess the question now is, is he still The Mule or Johan Fedorov? -

WCQF Game 1 GDT: Red Wings 2 at Predators 3
Jersey Wing replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
I saw a good effort tonight. I saw two Nashville goals that got the lucky bounce and went in. Good for them, bad for us. But they were quirky goals. Great when they happen but you can't pay the mortgage with them. The Wings held their top guys in check. The Wings scored two powerplay goals from frontline PP guys. Play a little smarter on the walls and watch those passes back behind the net, clean up the lazy penalties and I'd say the Wings have a great shot at game 2. It's not a series until you lose your first home game. Does anyone know, are the Predator fans chanting "It's all your fault, it's all your fault" at Howard at some point after a goal? I used to do that at University of Michigan games in the late 80's when Denny Felsner and Aaron Ward were cutting their teeth. Cripes, get an original cheer Nashvillle. -
Shea Weber fined for Zetterberg "headslam"
Jersey Wing replied to Manny>Ozzie(by a long shot)'s topic in General
I think there will be a one game suspension and it will come from grabbing Zetterberg's head and ramming it glassward. There is precedent, Pronger got a game for this in 2007 vs the Wings with the Ducks. -

#6 New Jersey Devils vs. #3 Florida Panthers
Jersey Wing replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
I've been watching the Devils all year. They certainly have enough to take Florida. Zajac coming back to center the Kovalchuck/Parise line is huge for them. If Clarkson who had 30 goals this year can keep anchoring a secondary scoring line I think El Diablos should prevail in 6 games max. I'll be at game 4 of this series.
