LOVE the idea that the first round would be divisional matchups. The reseeding is fine but that kind of was happening anyway.

I'm in total agreement with those who say he's the best defenseman ever. Yes, Bobby Orr ever...

I said this last night. I'm not trying to change anyone's mind and I'm confident in what I saw. Roam plants hit back leg and lunges forward, late, at Horton's head and neck area. He wasn't just skating along, he coiled a bit. I'm still saying this year and I'll amend my 40 games next year to 20, but this hit, TO ME, was particularly bad.

Here's the Thomas check on Sedin with on ice sound from NHL Networks... http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?catid=0&id=117186

My favorite play was the Thomas check. How often we see athletes make bad decisions. You could almost watch Thomas' thought process. He followed the puck and saw Sedin had it and it dawned on him, just bury him, it's just a legal check and solves the immediate problem.

It was the shoulder first lunge right towards his head. That's what I saw. Yeah the game moves fast but he saw his opportunity to lay someone out.

Dear GOD. Someone is going to die one day from this. They will. That hit was wrong on so many levels. I mean WHAT? This should be a Bettman call tonight, rest of the season and 20+ next year. It's like aluminum bats in college baseball. One day a pitcher will die.

Ya know what's great about those thrilling crowd shots of the Vancouver fans? The constant visual reminder of the roughly 75 team logos and designs and color schemes that franchise has had.

You left off Sergei Bautin

I swear to god if after the dust settles the Wings don't get to the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League I am going to turn into Homer Simpson as Angry Dad and walk over to the NHL offices and choke Bettman like he does Bart.

According to the website Consumerist the Thrashers are still taking orders for season tickets. I'm sorry this is so sad/funny it gets two goal lights http://consumerist.com/2011/05/great-news-hockey-fans-this.html PD: Are you guys still accepting Thrashers season-ticket deposits? THRASHERS: We are! Where would you like to sit? How many seats are you looking for? PD: Downstairs would be great. And just two. THRASHERS: And what will you be using your tickets for? PD: To watch some exciting Thrashers hockey in 2011-12. THRASHERS: In the lower bowl, the lowest we have are $999 and they're in Sections 201-209. Do you want me to tell you the best available there? PD: And this is for the Atlanta Thrashers' 2011-12 season? THRASHERS: Uh-huh. PD: Next season? In the NHL? In Atlanta? THRASHERS: Uh-huh. Do you want me to tell you the best available tickets? PD: Sure.

Ken Holland: Open to trade to replace Rafalski
Jersey Wing replied to wingsownnhl43's topic in General
I would trade Hudler for Bogosian and then trade Joey MacDonald for Mike Green Hey, whoops, sorry about that. My cousins from Toronto are over and their son who is a big Maple Leafs fan jumped on and started typing trade ideas... -
Brian Rafalski announces retirement after 11 NHL seasons
Jersey Wing replied to MacK_Attack's topic in General
If true Godspeed Brian Rafalski, thank you for your time in Detroit, your effort, and your play to help win the 2008 Stanley Cup. Feel free to hang around Joe Louis Arena and give the glad hand to fans -

Bigger Picture Question - What was the deciding factor?
Jersey Wing replied to RedWingsRox's topic in General
We had two chances to win ONE overtime game. We lost them both. With a win in just ONE of those games it's over in 6 games. Overtime games are opportunities. The Wings didn't capitalize on those opportunities. -
He might not have made the most judicious plays but he was hustling. He wasn't standing around all the time (sans the goal in game 4) he actually did some won on the boards as well. I wouldn't say he was in the trunk the whole series, no.
-
They played hard. They played with honor. There were no passengers. Playing two scoring forwards short in the third was difficult. Jimmy Howard is becoming the goalie we HOPED he'd be rather than the one we FEARED he'd be. Quick recoveries to Franzen, Cleary, Bertuzzi and the rest.

5-2 Wings, they finally break out and away from San Jose. Zetterberg will be the #1 star with 2 goals and an assist. Here's something for the hype: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwzciUQpbCA

2011 LGW Playoff Picks Game: Mid-Round Scoring Update
Jersey Wing replied to NeverForgetMac25's topic in General
There must be some mistake. I'm only tied for 95th place. What the hell kind of college do you think I'm going to get into with that score? -
Vancouver Media already playing "wings too old" card
Jersey Wing replied to Winger19's topic in General
I'm seeing an awful lot of very confident Canucks fans on several hockey boards the last few days. As for the article? Especially after a gruelling seven-game series. Hey the Wings should they win will have played 11 games thus far and had 9 days off in between the first and second round. The Canucks have already played 13 games and made the maximum number of cross continent road trips. -
The first time I really heard much about him I learned he had the nickname 'Demolition Man' and I was thinking yyyyyyeeeeeeaaaaahhhhhhh, ok, I think you're going to need to PROVE that to me Mr. Holmstrom. He's the best net agitator/goalie screener/puck tipper ever. Yes ever. For decades to come announcers will compare a goalmouth battle/tip in score to 'Just like Tomas Holmstrom used to do back in the day'. I reiterate Wings fans should chip in and buy him a $5000 recliner chair as a thank you one day when they have Tomas Holmstrom is retiring night.

All that extra time off after the Coyotes series so many were worried about? It's paying dividends right now

Just keep doing what you're doing boys. Or, in the words of the great Herb Brooks, "Play your game, play your game, play your game..."
