Garth Snow's thin skinned antics aren't winning any fans out this way... Isles' Garth Snow raises ire of beat writers BY PAT HICKEY, THE GAZETTE APRIL 5, 2011 8:02 AM The average hockey fan has never heard of Chris Botta, but the Long Island-based blogger has become an unwilling cause célèbre. When the National Hockey League sent out ballots for its annual awards to members of the Professional Hockey Writers Association last week, the three chapters in the New York metropolitan area announced they were boycotting the vote. They were protesting the fact that New York Islanders general manager Garth Snow revoked Botta's credentials in November. While everyone involved insists that there was no single issue which led to Snow's unprecedented decision, it's no coincidence that Botta was declared persona non grata after he criticized Snow's decision to fire head coach Scott Gordon. http://www.faceoff.com/Isles+Garth+Snow+raises+beat+writers/4560252/story.html

Let's all agree Bob Errey would have been #51

I don't want Anaheim as we all know it's one great line, that Swiss Miss goalie and 16 cave trolls. They are capable of any evil. Playing Nashville is like playing a hive of bees with a sharp netminder. There are +'s and -'s to each matchup I suppose but those two I would not like

If there was one F/D/G you could add to the team, who would it be?

F -- Ovechkin. Imagine telling him he has no pressure on him and just go play. Imagine THAT result. D -- Weber. For reasons already discussed G -- Luongo. He's so big you'll always be able to see him on the bench as he backs up the Great Jimmeh Howard -
Yep, looking good for Pavel, the latest Wings tweet: DetroitRedWings Detroit Red Wings Won't know officially for a few hours, but recent buzz indicates that we may have a little more dangle and deke in the lineup today.

East please. Sincerely, Jersey City

Preds fans learn a tough lesson -- the game ain't over until Kyle Wellwood puts on a dress and sings.

Datsyuk, Franzen, Hudler & Bertuzzi likely will not play

The patron saint of late March and early April in some corners is right on time again this year... -
This is awful and this is greedy. Awful greedy. What about my alma mater NMU? LSSU? Ferris, BG and on and on. Taking Minnesota and Wisconsin guts the WCHA in name, history and winning %. I would suppose the remaining WCHA and CCHA clubs could cobble together a league but the travel would kill a small school like NMU et al.

Yes, it's intentional and suspendable but I'm not going to lose a lot of sleep feeling bad for Steve Ott. Live by the sword, die by the sword.

Go Wings!! I say they win 4-3 in OT and Z nets the winner. Always fun to watch Ovechkin. In fact my wife is out of town this weekend and both the Rangers and Devils are home Friday night. Both games have playoff implications, the Rangers vs. Montreal and the streaking Devils vs. The Ovechkin led Caps. The Original Six purist in me wanted to go see the Rags and Habs but since I'd never seen Ovie play in person I chose the Devils game. See you there, lol

Welcome! Hope you enjoy it here. I buy the Center Ice package every year because I'm a hockey freak and love watching all the games I can. Then, when I moved to Jersey City it became even more important to watch the Wings. I'll say this if you decide on the Center Ice package, you do get replays of games late and night and the next morning so you can pick when you see the game if you miss it. They also carry at least the first round of playoffs which is great so you don't get stuck only watching Pittsburgh and Chicago on Versus. I'm one who believes Center Ice is worth the money. Now if they could only give it to me here in high def...

As much as I love Ken and Mickey and Hot Dog Murphy calling the games I was happy to get a game on Center Ice with Rick Jeanerette and Harry Neale. The Buffalo broadcast spent quite a bit of time pointing out how the Wings are a first class organization and what they do to keep it that way. Neale pointed out the biggest difference that sets Detroit apart is that you've had a lot of guys around the dressing room to show younger players and players traded in or free agent signings HOW to play Red Wings hockey and how to be a Red Wing. He specifically mentioned Stevie, Igor, Shanahan, Draper, Lidstrom and Konstantinov as guys who would pull you aside if you strayed a bit. When they talk you listen was his point. A great line of leadership succession other teams don't see.

Ken Daniels on the Flyers and Rangers? I'd say NBC has made up their minds who will succeed Doc Emerick one day

Maybe a depth defenseman is all I see as a skater need. Modano coming back and having Datsyuk, Filppula, Cleary and others having some time off this regular season I see no need for panic. Like I said, maybe a 6-7-8 defenseman on the cheap. That being said, the goaltending sticks in my craw. I have no problem with Jimmy. He'll either get it done or he won't. I worry about Ozzie's groin/hernia surgery nagging issues if Howard falters ala Hasek in 2008

I stayed up until 4 AM this morning to rewatch this game. I caught the last 7 minutes after the Wings game last night. FANTASTIC. Sometimes this kind of untoward, churlish, deranged, immature behavior brings fans to their feet while screaming and makes guys like me stay up until dawn to watch what I missed the first time.

I think if anything it's proof that whether you pray to God, Jesus, Buddah, Mohammad, a tree, Jah, or if you're like me, the Flying Spaghetti Monster that it may take a while but prayers DO get answered. Now if you simply read the statement, yes it seems cold and callous. But please allow me to argue my case Red Wing Nation. First off he's a very good player when he shows up. He's got Fedorovitis (Fedorov was much better but you know what I mean). Now, as for prayers and karma -- yes, let's count the amount of times he's simply gone all stick goon when frustrated throwing relentless cross checks and spears at Zetterberg (mostly). Then let's consider his Pearl Harbor attack on Z at the end of game 5 in the 2009 SCF. Instigator. Automatic suspension. Automatic all the time. But this one got a presidential pardon. Malkin got lucky, verrrrrrry lucky to stay in the critical game six and somehow by default win the Conn Smythe (and good for him). He gets away with an awful lot but after that attack on Zetterberg I called on the hockey gods to intervene against this weasel. My deity has heard my admonitions. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Oh, and if I've upset anyone by seeming petty that's not my intent. I want to be a good member of LGW. One write in vote for Lisa Murkowski Bettman. I had a beer at The Post with Jason Williams one night after they played St. Louis the night before Thanksgiving a few years back. He was a nice enough guy.

NO, sorry, it's time Bettman has to get grief for his double standard. Bettman made this all about 'showing up' last year. The NHL had no issue with Lidstrom and Datsyuk not playing (and Pavel was every bit as injured and unable to go as Crosby this year), it was about showing up. We heard that ad nauseum from the NHL as to why the suspensions HAD to happen. So, concussion or NOT, Crosby has to go or be suspended. There is NO middle ground here per Gary Bettman. Don't like my viewpoint? Call the NHL...

Next time I'm on Long Island I'm going to litter.

Difference of opinion. I LOVE Rick Jeanneret calling games. I'm a big fan of the Sabres color guy Harry Neale too. My favorite announcing team of all time was Bob Cole and Harry Neale on HNIC. How COOL would this be with YOUR favorite announcer?

For what it's worth the Star-Ledger here is sounding like the Devils will claim Nabokov and waive him and bingo he's a Red Wing http://www.nj.com/devils/index.ssf/2011/01/devils_martin_brodeur_shutouts.html

1) Heal the team and go into playoffs healthy and rested 2) Wreak destruction on rest of NHL with healthy playoff roster 3) Parade
