Stuart out 6-8 weeks with broken jaw

Tom Kostopoulos, you are so lucky this was the last game between the Wings and Flames this year. Pray you don't get traded

    Crosby Out with Mild Concussion

I had a mild concussion once. I had this terrible awful dream that I was in my 20's, making millions of dollars and still living in Mario Lemieux's basement

    Who would have thought?

They've played well, very well. Smart too. Now Tatar, Kindl and Mursak have played long stretches to hit the wall where they look like they're skating in sand but boy, it sure warms the cockles of my heart to see such a strong future mixed with a great veteran presence. Learn youze kids, learn... They call him Tatar Salad

Stuart out 6-8 weeks with broken jaw

It's such and easy call to make, 5 minutes and a game. He didn't try and make a play in the corner with Stuart and get an elbow up. It was basically a drive by elbow to the head, he had no intention of playing the puck, just Stuart's head.

12/11 GDT: Red Wings 4 at Devils 1

You're actually starting to hear that muttered in the bathrooms at the Prudential Center. The sad thing is I thought they HAD their next decent goalie in Clemmensen who played so well when Brodeur was out for so long a couple seasons back. I can pinpoint the moment Brodeur started to lose it. Game 7 vs Carolina two years ago, first round. Brodeur hacked two VERY SIMILAR goals to the ones the Wings scored so quickly tonight in the last 90 seconds. The Devils were practically into round two and then Brodeur looked like he needed a seeing eye dog. Roy went pretty quick as well. I think losing to the Wild in his next to last season after being up 3-1 and St. Patrick couldn't close out the Wild. You kinda knew right then it was over. What can the Devils do to get a top flight goalie when a couple times this year they haven't even fielded a full team because of salary cap issues? I don't even wanna ask how much Kovalchuk's secondary assist on Elias' goal tonight cost the Devils.

Yeah, I had two takeaways from tonight. Datsyuk and Zetterberg are tip top and when they play with Cleary I think they're the best line in the NHL. Ozzie played his usual quiet, solid, no drama road game and again comes out with the win. I sure wish tonight had been his 400th win, it would have been a treat to be there for history.

Fantastic effort by the Wings! A LOT of Wings fans at The Rock tonight. I got to meet Doc Emerick between the second and third periods. I was right on the aisle in section 18 and he came down between periods and it looked like he was talking with some old friends. When he came by I congratulated him on his well earned spot in the Hall of Fame. He looked at the Wings sweater and said "Your team is playing very well". I told him (Wings were up 3-0) so far so good. He said that so far seems to mean all season long. I thanked him and said we had a very challenging third period vs Montreal so anything can happen.

Trust me, Brodeur is no longer scaring ANYBODY. I can actually pinpoint his slide because I saw it happen. A couple years ago the Devils led Carolina in game 7 of the first round by a goal with a minute to go. All they had to do to advance was hold on for a minute. Brodeur let in not one bad gaol on the last minute but TWO. I mean two horrid chances beat him and he simply hasn't looked like Martin the Great since that point.

    Retire Osgood's #30?

Sorry, I meant IF you're taking one of the three. To me Osgood has done more than enough and should be automatic but not Fedorov or Shanny.

    Retire Osgood's #30?

Yes, he has met whatever 'requirements' are necessary. I say yes and yes to him before Fedorov or Shanahan. Being a goalie in Detroit is it's own special ring of hell. It requires a far higher level of toughness. Also, I disagree (respectfully as I understand their point) with those who think he needs to get into the hall of fame before being hoisted to the JLA rafters. For far too long people have said Osgood was nothing more than a product of the team in front of him or they somehow managed to win in spite of him. Ridiculous claims, utter hogwash. Was Dryden a product of those magnificent Canadiens teams in front of him? Was Fuhr a lucky passenger in Edmonton? Baloney and I think the Wings should be the ones to make that point crystal clear by retiring his #30. You're not retiring his number to prove a point, you're retiring it because Ozzie deserves it.

    Parise injured vs LA Kings

Zach Parise stumbled awkwardly and badly twisted his knee after clipping skates near the Los Angles blue line tonight. It looked really awkward and by the time he got to the bench he could barely get his leg over the bench. Although the Devils play Monday night in Vancouver Parise is flying back to Newark tonight, never a good sign. The Devils are a wreck right now. A rookie defenseman, Taormina, is tied for the team lead in goals with 3. The Star Ledger beat writer just tweeted: Zach Parise, who did not come out for the third period, left after the game with GM Lou Lamoriello either on a red eye flight or private jet

New Jersey's situation about to explode

He never made sense to begin with in NJ. I see this team all the time and even last year he never REALLY looked comfortable and certainly didn't assert himself in the playoffs. Lou got all google-eyed that a big name star would come to Newark he lost his mind on this one. Remember in Bull Durham where Crash Davis told Nuke on the bus "You don't need a Blaupunkt, what you need is a curveball". Well the Devils didn't need a Blaupunkt head case winger who eats through coaches like a giant termite, what they need is a clever playmaking pivot to serve up Parise and or Zajac. A good offensive threat on the blueline would have helped too AND not eaten up 100 million large. I mean not dressing a full roster was embarrassing. I went to opening night against Dallas and they didn't look all that good in losing in OT and then I went on Monday afternoon vs. the Crosby's and the Devils dressed 15 skaters. It's just defeatist to go out there with so few guys.

"Why I hate this obnoxious hockey team"

I are hate Wings. Obnoxious Detroit buys Modano when him cleerly wanted to stay at other home Dallas. Detroit buys Cup's (sic) to be arrogant. They only ever winned 11 cup's despite their best friend Gary Beetman giving them four while not promoting true NHL Stars like Sidney Crosby and Mark Fistric. Gary Beetman holds back the others great teams by giving the Dead Wings all the calls. I hate Detroit fans because they are mean winners. They should be quiet and let real fans like in Dallas be heard. "I tried to capture the spirit of the thing." --Dickie Dunn
