LOL, touche!

The guy can't just make a point without the insults. That's too bad. Now if I ever go to Vancouver I will have to litter.

Effective power forward or tubby pylon. Hmmmmmmmmmmm, which one should he choose?

I'm pretty sure the entire two and a half hours of game 7 were a highlite reel

I watched it live, heard the final horn sound and haven't watched any of it since. Never will. Don't spend much time watching the 95 Final either.

Mount Puckmore: The four faces of the Detroit Red Wings
Jersey Wing replied to jeff48109's topic in General
It's nice to be able to have had so many greats to argue over JUST 4 spots. I would like to nominate Sergei Bautin and when you carve him into rock make sure he had the usual cigarette hanging out of his mouth. -
The single biggest scapegoat of the Red Wings in the last 20+ years...
Jersey Wing replied to stevkrause's topic in General
What? I never blamed him for anything. You bring a guy in, they play and they win or they don't. I didn't scapegoat him ever. I'm sorry he couldn't win a cup here because he's a decent and good man who gives of himself very graciously. I never blamed him for anything. -

Why would I buy a Mike Modano jersey when I have a perfectly good Wendel Clark one? I kid I kid. Actually no I wouldn't but it's not because I dislike Modano, he's always been a class act and a great player and always answered the call to play for team USA. He's a lot like Sakic, disliked the team he was on but he's an alright guy. I have my Zetterberg sweater which has become my sweater of choice for games out here. The Yzerman sweater is brought out only for the playoffs. The generic oversize red and white ones (oversize so you can wear a couple layers of warm clothes under it in fall and winter and show the jersey on the outside) are nice as is the practice jersey. I think I'm good for now on apparel

Teemu and Paul are such a happy couple. AND, seeing as they'll be living in California.... Not that there's anything wrong with that.....

Blog: The Blackhawks still have serious financial difficulties
Jersey Wing replied to a topic in General
I would expect to see quite a few retreads and never will be's on the 3rd and 4th line and 3rd defense pairing. Training camp will welcome back a few familiar faces in Dirk Graham, Eric Daze, Mike Peluso and camp invitee Clarence 'Screaming Buffalo' Swamptown -
Ha, John Chabot. Anybody else remember Channel 9 local Windsor sports guy Marty Adler playing 'Chabot Sh-Boom" to highlites of his goals to the tune of 'Sh-Boom Sh-Boom" by the Chords?

Maybe a local Rembrandt there can paint another giant PigToews mural squealing out "Hawkeytown snort weee weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee"

This hit the Yahoo wires a while ago, maybe it helps some here see what the emerging plan is for Modano SHOULD he sign. Main points of article: *Forget about the Blackhawks or any other NHL team. If Westland native Mike Modano decides he wants to play hockey next season, he is going play for the Detroit Red Wings. *The Red Wings made it clear he would be a valuable part of their 2010-11 roster. He spent a lot of time playing left wing the last couple years in Dallas, but Holland said Modano would be the third-line center with the Wings. *The Wings are expected to offer Modano close to a $1 million for next season. After signing Drew Miller to a one-year deal worth $650,000 Tuesday, they now have 19 players signed for roughly $55 million. The salary cap next season is $59.4 million. *So, if they do sign Modano, they would have $3.4 million left to sign restricted free agents Patrick Eaves, Derek Meech, Justin Abdelkader and Darren Helm. Helm and Abdelkader would presumably battle for the fourth-line center position. Full article: http://news.yahoo.com/s/detroitnws/detroitnws_ts3053 Oops, just noticed this also posted at the Detroit News. Didn't think to see who wrote it on Yahoo. If you all knew this already sorry..

Bob Probert is so beloved because Bob Probert was worth the price of admission all by himself.

If the Flyers win in Chicago tonight the police will have to close the bridges.

The question is, can the #2 pick contribute in his third year, and how much of an impact the Wings brass seem to think he'll have. This proverbial #2 pick would be playing with a higher level of skill in Detroit than Boston so there is that to consider. I completely trust the Wings brass in making scouting decisions. No passengers in the Wings front office. It's my impression Boston thinks they are close to making a serious serious cup run in the next two years before the window starts to close or why else dangle this pick IF they really are willing to deal with it. Chara isn't getting any younger and with the emergence of Rask they think they're ready. Here's a nutty idea as I think if you're gonna make a trade go big or don't make it. Dangle Rafalski and the Wings #1 pick. Rafalski is a very good but not elite player. He's done well here. Had a magnificent Olympics. His trade value will never be higher AND it would open some salary to address other issues the Wings may want to or need to address. If Boston wants a prospect too, dangle a forward, not somebody like Kindl. This would give the Wings salary cap flexibility with some solid players available where they could add QUALITY depth. Any defense partner Lidstrom gets will automatically be made better. Maybe losing Rafalski could put you in a position to take a serious look at Volchenkov, I really like his game. You'd also then have a chance to go look for a good checking/sandpaper forward. Losing Rafaski would also almost certainly allow them to sign their RFA's like Abdelkader, Helm, Eaves et al. If done right you might still even have (and I'm ballparking it) 1-1.5M (Which when renting players and pro-rating salaries means you can look at guys making 3-4 million) to use come trade deadline time. I like Rafalski, I also know the dangers of losing a proven very good player to a draft pick you don't know will amount to anything but this is simply a hypothetical question anyway so why not dream baby dream. You may now compliment my vision or call me a dumbass, I've been called worse and have big shoulders so fire away.

You can run You can hide You can change your sweater color You can change numbers You can change cities You cannot outrun the curse of Hossa It is real and it is claiming yet another fanbase

MSG is showing an old Wings vs. Rangers game at MSG from 1992. So funny to see Jimmy Carson, Per Djoos, Steve Chiasson, Bobby Dollas, Yves Racine, and Ray Shepard in the Winged wheel. Some very young looking defenseman named Nick and Vladdie. Gerard Gallant just got kicked out for having his second fight of the night in beating down Broten. This was immediately after Domi's famous claiming of 'the belt' fight with Probert. Paul Ysebaert I love these old classics

I think the choice is clear but it's on the back end we need it. Harold Snepsts Don't worry Kenny, I got this

Ladies and Jellpyspoons of the congregation, welcome here today for the eulogy of the 2010 Penguins. Ladies and jellyspoons, I'll be extremely brief as these matters are about those who live and breathe and not dead teams. In the most succinct eulogy available about the 2010 Penguins is this: The 2009 Penguins were nothing but a FLUKE. Ladies and gentlemen, this ends our sermon, go in peace.

I think we all got the vibe this season had 'suck' written on it when Franzen went down so early that kind of kicked off the freakish pile of injuries. By suck I mean a season where even in your heart of hearts you think this squad is lacking, but barely, the qualities to win the cup. It's a good problem to have. It could be worse, some children are born and raised Panther fans. It's true. I looked it up on the internet. Next year we have another kick at the can. Think of that poor sullen preteen in Coral Gables in Florida who gets bagged over the head on Christmas morning with a goddamned Nathan Horton jersey instead of the glee a boy or girl from Detroit gets with the arrival of a new Jimmy Howard sweater.. They're not making Florida Panthers backwards slow motion great playoff moments in NHL history that end with "What if Mellanby had never whacked that rat in the locker room?" No friends, next year we get another kick at the can

Let us not look upon this moment with sadness, but let us now ring in the Hudler Part Deux era. Hail Hudler! Hail Hudler!
