Canada vs USA - Women's Gold medal game - 6:30 EST
Jersey Wing replied to Serapth's topic in General
The Canadian women propbably could have handled it better in hindsight but no doubt they saw all the fans had left and they thought they had the place to themselves. That being said the real thing that makes me dislike the Canadian's women's team was back in Salt Lake City where they invented the story that the US women had taped a Canadian flag to the floor in their dressing room and were wiping their feet on it and spitting on it. All made up but Don Cherry and some on CBC ran with it to trash the US team. That was a sad ploy. -
All the pressure is on the USA on Sunday. Slovakia will just be happy to be there and will play loose.
-
Just letting the JV in. Everybody gets to play in a 6-0 game lol

I'll say this, regardless of what they call it, the nightlife around the Bridgestone building is much better than around the Joe. You're a very short walk from some great bars and music stores and live music venues and some awesome BBQ. I'm a huge supporter of Detroit even living a stone's throw from Gotham but the pulse after the Predators games is just better.

I gotta say I am VERY proud of these young Americans. Even should they lose the gold medal nobody expected them to play for gold and certainly nobody thought they'd beat Canada. With 16 out of 21 on the roster being 25 years old or younger, and with the success in the World Championship the USA could be looking to make a major impact internationally for a long time (Or as long as Ryan Miller draws breath). I never had much use for Brian Burke but he did a GREAT job putting this team together. He didn't throw some all stars together, he built a fast yet hard hitting sandpaper-y bunch. They just said Mike Ilitch was at the games today, that's great.

I am a convert to the god like play of Ryan Miller

You mean this one? -
If Flip's miss had led to THIS I'd be upset, as it was, he simply missed

Jeebus Christ, SOME members of the Wings fan club need to simmer down now. Yes, they are injured. Yes, they're not winning shooouts. Yes they were outshot and YES, they're not as good as they have been. If ANY franchise in sports deserves a little slack it's the Detroit Red Wings. Like Maximus in Gladiator asking "Are you not entertained?" Have you not been entertained over the last 15 years? Would you RATHER be a fan of the Maple Loafs? The Panthers? Good lord some of you henny pennys need to understand that into every life a little rain must fall. They're still a good team that when healthy is the instant dark horse should they make the playoffs. If they don't I wish them a restful and healthy summer. They've given ME anyway so much joy over these last 15 years I'd be more than willing to give this franchise ANY needed mulligan. And even if they don't make the playoffs we have indeed found our next netminder going forward. That's huge. As for the smug Pens fans, you've been living right with the support of the NHL offices, on that there can be no debate. Here's the thing Pens fans, Chicago is the new Pittsburgh in the eyes of the NHL. You got your breaks, games on back-to-back nights in last year's Final, 7 men on the ice without being called along with other very questionable calls, but Chicago is a huge fan base, they are the new media darling, kinda like the Penguins were 3 years ago. Soon enough you'll find all that has been for you these last handful of years is going to be going to the Hawks. Once Mr. Gary sets his sights on getting a team big ink the Pens will be tossed out like so much recycling at the Bettman household.

I STILL hold some resentment over the Moore incident and while it's nice he's playing so well for the team I love, it's like I feel 3/4 as happy when HE scores as oppsoed to someone else. Of course I did did cheer when Jamie Macoun held the cup over his head over his head after the 1998 win after his headhunting cheapshot on an old personal friend growing up in Waterford Pat LaFontaine so I hope one day I can fully enbrace Big Bert especially after nights like the last two.....

The encouraging thing on Bertuzzi's OT winner was he looked like the Vancouver Bertuzzi using his sheer size to shield defenders while he made his play. Very nice goal. I loved listening to the Nashville announcers credit Zetterberg with the OT winner for the first minute andf a half after the win. Maybe, just MAYBE he's regaining some of his old form and confidence.

I was at the game and even the Rangers fans around me were telling the guy to keep his head up. Most of them saw it for what it was

Section 17 row 2. All pics came from there
-
Some pics from tonight's game. I'll take a road point any day against a team that has won 9 of 11 at home Datsyuk, Homer and Zetterberg work the corner Draper celebrates Eaves' tying goal Datsyuk gets ready with Abdelkader for an offensive zone faceoff Datsyuk's shootout goal
-
Gonna be there tonight. Gonna represent big time, and the wife brought the bail money just in case Snowing to beat the band here now, I'll take that as a good sign Section 17 row 2 says: Wings 4 Devils 3 Homer, Lidstrom, Zetterberg and Leino

11 is still > 3

When I don't wanna cause a ruckus and flaunt the Wings colors to MSG or the Prudential Center I go with my official Reg Dunlop Chiefs sweater which gives you a pass in whatever rink in the US or Canada you find yourself in. Here's me at Game 1 of the Devils vs Carolina playoff series last year, gacked by Brodeur in game 7 which I also went to. Talk about shell shocked and quiet crowd leaving a venue... A Chiefs sweater can make you anybody's pal I find.

Sure will my friend, I'm at 140 Bay, the old Leo Cooke Warehouse turned into lofts, I see no reason we can't head out together and even catch a few games this year! Name's Mark by the way. We'll talk more later about when we wanna head out. I'm bringing my wonderful hockey fan wife with her Lidstrom hat. I will say this about the Prudential Center, for a stadium they have great facilities and great food choices.

Ha! Hi neighbor, I'm on Bay near Provost but the next main street up is Marin! Yep, Taking the old Grove Street PATH out to Newark. Then the next night the PATH to 33rd for the game at MSG!

Ericsson worked out well on short notice so here's to Kindl having that same Swede magic
-
Quenneville must shave the Q-Stache as the league considers it income to help get the Hawks under the cap. The stache was appearing in Berwyn and Midlothian at autograph signings which now count as salary

I'll be at both games. Anybody wanna hook up beforehand? Living out here for a year has taught me a couple things---Devils fans can be a little more white-trashy than Rags fans. I'm not saying all. I've met some nice Devils fans but they would be the ones to say "Hey get that Wings Sh*t out of here this is OUR house a**hole" if you get the wrong bunch of them together. Rangers fans can be annoying but they DO respect the Original Six brotherhood. There is a huge area outside of the Prudential Center by where you can either enter or go to will call to pick up tickets and a blocked in area with beer and bands and little moon bouncy blow up things for kids, we could meet there if we wanted to. Devils game Section 17, Row 2 Rags game Secton 415 Row B I'll be in a Zetterberg sweater, red, with a 2008 Stanley Cup champions hat......Big Guy, red hair, amber sunglasses, that's me:
