ericcson has the look of his opponent

    Acceptable to post the fight? If not I'll take it down. Yeah, I think Perry never expected to be called on his bluff. Perry was the most shocked person in Joe Louis Arena when fists started hitting him. name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>&"> name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350" />

Randy Carlyle's view of the hit

Carlyle is an annoying man. The series hadn't started and he was whining about how the Wings get away with things in front of the net. "Holmstrom odes this and Franzen does that". The puck hadn't even dropped. Now we hear him say basically Hudler ran into Brown's elbow. Then he comments on the Franzen goal and rolls his eyes and snivels "Amazing isn't it" like he's somehow Nostradomus. I detest whiner coaches, Carlyle is one of them. I think he was mad because he knew the Ducks had a good chance to steal game one and failed. No Draper, No Rafalski, lots of rust on the Wings and yet Detroit wins. That's why I think he's really cranky...

    4/30 Playoff GDT

It'll be interesting to see how the Blackhawks respond to their first real taste of adversity. They never trailed in the series (in games) to Calgary and had the bounces going their way. They have absolutely nothing going tonight and Eager's hit sure stsrted a sh*tstorm. We'll see how the young Hawks respond

    Anaheim Preview

It's all about the Detroit powerplay. The Ducks felt free to hack and whack the Sharks until the Sharks made them pay for it on the powerplay, they never did so Anaheim settled into their comfort zone. The Ducks will continue to play the way the love to play, borderline dirty, until someone has success on their powerplay and forces them to adjust. If the Wings can have success on the powerplay and forces Anaheim to play a different style, the Wings should win. Should Detroit have success early it will frustrate the Ducks and again, the penalties will come. IF the Wings don't score on the powerplay, like the Sharks series, the Ducks will hit their comfort zone in playing any way they please and you're looking at a very long drawn out series. If Detroit's powerplay goes into the tank, the Ducks can survive as a one line team (I didn't say win, I said survive) and counterpunch and wait for their breaks. Hiller looked like a pretty cool customer as he got bumped and jostled by the Sharks. Of course there is a big difference between getting bumped and jostled while the other team is NOT scoring on you as to getting banged when they ARE scoring. Mr Holmstrom, Mr Franzen and Mr Kopecky, get to work

Anybody remember Goofus and Gallant from Highlights Children's magazine? For those who don't they had two cartoon characters named Goofus and Gallant who taught kids manners. Goofus taught kids the WRONG way while Gallant showed kids the RIGHT thing to do. I give you LetsGoWings Magazine presents Pronger and Datsyuk

2 game 7's Tonight.. Who comes out on top?

I just got back from the Prudential Center for game 7. WOW, what an UTTER collapse by the Devils. They need to face facts that Mr Everything Martin Brodeur gave up TWO brutal goals, the first one and the last one. No longer can he be considered the end all and be all. I was on the club level first row at the end where Carolina scored both late goals to win. First off, big ups to Tim Gleason for holding the puck in on a diving effort for the Hurricanes on the tying goal. Great play by him especially after he easily could have been the goat for taking a four minute high sticking penalty in the third period. So, the Devils cough up two games late in the series and head out golfing on the same day as the Rangers. This was strange tonight but worth a mention. The Devils fans are hyper-aware of everything the Rangers do. When the scoreboard showed the Rangers and Capitals were tied in the third it got a ho-hum from the crowd (and this was between the seconfd and third period of the New Jersey game with the Devils up 3-2). The Capitals went up 3-2 on Fedorov's goal and they showed it and the crowd went wild. They went even wilder when that score went final. I looked around at them like DUH, what's the matter with you people? I know you hate the Rangers but if the Devils win (and they were leading) AND the Rangers win, the Devils get home ice vs Pittsburgh while New York would play Boston. I was like "Would you rather have the Rangers lose or have a better chance at the cup?" Apparently tonight they'd have rather had the Rangers lose. In the end it didn't matter but for a while I wanted to shake them like a baby on an iPhone application.

    will wings retire fedorov's 91?

I'm of the mind when it comes to retiring numbers if you even have to debate the individual, it shouldn't be retired. I'd love to see both Fedorov and Shanahan's numbers retired but I don't think they should be. Lidstrom yes. Osgood yes. Ask me in 5-7 years about Datsyuk and Zetterberg.

    Fight in the stands

Here's my story about attending a sporting event in Ohio.... I'm a Browns fan and after the previous year's 10-6 record I wanted to go see them play the Cleveland Browns Stadium, and chose the first game fo the year, national TeeVee vs Dallas. Never again will I EVER go to Cleveland Browns Stadium, by the end of the afternoon I was ashamed to call myself a Browns fan. My wife and I went and were sitting next to an African American couple from Columbus, they were really great people and we were talking about what they like to do in Columbus as we have good friends there and have been a few times. Good people. Apparently their 'problem' was they were Dallas fans. He had on a vintage Emmit Smith jersey and she had on a Dallas t-shirt. As soon as the two rows behind us fllled in it started. Not even good natured ribbing "F*** You Cowgirl C***" "I heard the word *****. The guy did as he should have and went and got ushers (who god love 'em, tried to do a good job all day they were simply overwhelmed by jackass stupidity at it's highest levels). The ushers told everyone in those two rows, about 20 people, they weren't going to deal with it, they'd be bounced out. It kept up and kept up and they got drunker and louder. "Romeo Crennell can't coach, stupid fing milk dud, get a white coach". "Catch the ball Braylon you stupid n*****". I mean ALL game long. Finally one of the idiots behind us made some comment to the guys wife. He again went to get the ushers. They were delayed at another fight and as he got back to his seat three guys behind him dumped beer on him, his wife, MY wife, and me. I'm a BIG guy, a big STRONG guy, former military. After they dumped beer on him three of them, THREE grabbed him and started punching on him, I moved my wife to the aisle and started swinging on these guys to defend the poor guy. I was physically PULLING guys off of him. One then another then another. I had hauled one guy out into the aisle and was about to wreck his afternoon him when security finally arrived and dragged 20 people, those two rows out, kicked them out. F You N***** all of them on the way out. As we started to sit back down I looked into the Dawg Pound and saw no less than FIVE fights going on between Browns fans and police. Like I said, I've never been more embarrassed to be a fan of a team. I'll never go back. I called the Browns and they later told me they cancelled 3 sets of season tickets that were in those seats but still, I'm never going back. I CERTAINLY got the opinion by the sheer level of stupidity this behavior was the norm, not the exception. Stay classy O-HI-O

WCQF GAME 3 GDT: Red Wings 4, Blue Jackets 1

It's been my experience in games such as these--the EXTRA SPECIAL games such as banner cermonies, jersey retirements, retirement games etc. that it never works out for the home team. Tonight is such a game. Why, even the Commish will be there to christen Nationwide Arena and welcome it to the NHL land of playoffs. 4-3 OT winner scored by Hossa Immediately after Hossa scores Bettman will be seen motioning to the referees demanding they wave it off

Does anyone else here put up a shrine?

I have little quirks associated with it. There is a death card out front that my squeaky octopus "Al" (Yeah, original I know) sits on between game days. It doesn't have to be a current player on the team the Wings are playing, just a former player is fine but the team matters. Wings score, goal light comes on, Al gets squeeked, death card gets stepped on. It entails hockey cards collected from long ago, old playoff ticket stubs, bobble heads, pom poms from the Joe and other little chachkis. Each round it gets bigger with a few more items (Wife loves that). If the Wings lose two in a row certain player cards who aren't playing well get turned around. I'm nothing if not superstitous. So, does anybody else have a shrine this time of year? Last year, first round vs Nashville, by June it was huge....

    How to Avoid Anaheim

Plus, the old idiom from Harry Neale come playoff time: "Beware the veteran team that underachieved in the regular season"

    How to Avoid Anaheim

I think Anaheim is the LAST team San Jose wants to see in the first round. A physical bordering on violent team, one who knows them all too well and one with big nasty forwards and a solid battle tested defense. Beauchemin is just getting back into the lineup which makes the Ducks a tougher draw yet. I wouldn't mind seeing Getzlaf, Ryan, Brown and Perry work over the softer Sharks defense corps for 6 or 7 games. As for the Wings, I think the Blues would be a fine first round matchup. The loud fans in St. Louis would keep concentration at a high level, and they have had somewhat recent success against them over the last decade in the playoffs. Guys like Lidstrom, Draper, Maltby, Datsyuk and Homer have all knocked the Blues out at some point. The travel would be less and the Blues aren't what I'd consider an overtly physical menace.
