I love how the internet rumor mongoring about the salary cap has some of you wizzing in your pants. Seriously people, how long does kenny and the wings have to keep proving you all wrong before you all just learn to say....Kenny knows what he's doing, so I can just chill about all of this. If the wings sign him good, if not good. No biggie. And all this talk about the Cap being 40 million is pretty absurd at this point. No one knows anything right now. NO ONE!!! Just cause the economy is tanking in Detroit, doesn't mean that is what it is doing everywhere. My house appreciated by 6 percent last year. Later.

You listen to too many commentators. So, diving is dishonorable, but hooking and holding isn't? Diving is a way of trying to even some of that crap out. If the refs would call the games in the playoffs like they do in the regular season.....then you wouldn't see the diving. If the refs aren't going to call the stuff, then you will continue to see players do this in an attempt to get the refs to call it. Remember this.....When a player dives, he is diving for a reason. Usually because a player is hooking, holding etc.... Just because he doesn't fall down, shouldn't mean it doesn't get called, but that's what seems to happen in the playoffs. I just think this whole....calling someone dishonorable for diving crap is lame. Second, how do we know when a player is truely diving? Sometimes a player loses an edge, and it looks like he is diving.....and it happens at a time he is being hooked, tripped, slashed etc.... Just sayin, it is awful hard most of the time to determine when someone is diving. When you say someone is diving....it is all at someones discretion, and when you leave it up to someones judgement there are usually differing opinions. It just makes it really difficult. But I have noticed that you are one poster who seems to be a little more on the negative side (when discussing the wings) than most on here. Why is that? Are you always a glass half full guy, or are you just not a big wings fan? I know, I know.....let me guess.....Your a realist, right?

Have to say, I would rather see the B's. Call me old fashioned, but I just don't see what good it would do for the NHL to have Carolina in it. I think Boston Vs Detroit would create some hype.

Claude Lemeow...... I can't believe I shook that guys hand!!!!

You make a good point. I am not gonna have the intended to or not argument because it is pointless. However, I think there is probably more to Wiz's comments than just motivation. Think back to Carlyles statements before game one about Homer always running the goalie. That was an attempt to get the refs attention, as was this comment by Wiz. Think about it....the Ducks are thinking that the wings are probably gonna get some calls because they were screwed on the no goal call. What better way to try and even things out in the refs minds, then to point out that they also missed a call on Homer? With that said, none of this would have happend had Wiz not crosschecked homer right before getting hit by the puck. It caused his injury, it caused homer to....(more than likely retaliate with an elbow). No homer didn't intend to elbow an injured guy, but let's be real here. The elbow was probably a little payback for the crosscheck. Although I don't think he was trying to catch him with an elbow to the face, Wiz being leaned over caused that.

Whooooaaaaa!!!! settle down there big boy. No one said you were a kid, nor talked to you like you were one. Not sure where you got that from?? Paranoid much? Sorry if it offended, but you were the one who stated something to the effect that if they brought up Leino....it would be for all the wrong reasons. Hence, you were making the insinuation that because Abs had outplayed Leino in the last series in the "A" that he would be the better choice. At least that's how you wrote it. Since you stated that the wings would be doing it for the wrong reasons, I was trying to show that there just might be a little more to it than what someone did in one series. I know, I know, that's probably crazy talk......but surely even you would realize they probably go off of more than just that. Like, I dunno, maybe how they have actually performed with the big boys. All's I am saying is Leino was much more productive than most players are in their first 13 NHL games. I would even go out on a limb and say he just might have impressed the organization with his numbers as well. Later dude, and please try not to take any of this personal. It's a message board.

And who's to say what those wrong reasons would be? I mean should the wings take their advice from a fan who watched an AHL playoff series? Should they base it on what Leino or Abdelkader did in the AHL? Or should they make a decision based on what they have done in "the league" (NHL)? I mean who's to say what the wrong and right reasons are, but you could go different ways on this. If you base it on NHL performance then it is Leino that is ready. Just sayin...

UGHHHHH!!! This is the part that bothered me most. (Bolded) Coach Mike Babcock said Kris Draper (upper-body injury) will not play in Game 4 and that he is planning no lineup changes and will stick with the same line combinations. No lineup OR LINE CHANGES??? Are you kidding me???? At some point you have to make some changes.... How does that saying go about continuing to do something that keeps failing, and expecting different results???? I mean comon. At the very least, and I mean the very least....You have to change up that Hossa/Dats/Homer line. At the very least make Anaheim make a decision on whether or not they are going to split the Marchant line up to match the players that have been matching up with Pavs and Hoss. Man I hope Babs stubborness doesn't cost us. If it works he's a genius, but I don't feel good about him being this stubborn. Heres what I don't understand (And yes I love Darren Helm, but he doesn't scare anyone as far as putting up points) Why, when we are having trouble scoring/beating this goalie.....would you not try to add some scoring punch to the bottom half of your lineup. Even if they contribute a point, it would have been the difference in games 2 0r 3. Now is the time to put leino in Mikey. And NO I would not take out Helm. Helm has been playing really well, and with someone next to him that can bury the puck, who knows what might happen. I would take out either Malts or Kopecky. Prolly Kopecky. # Pos Player GP G A P +/- PIM PP SH GW S S 82 R Tomas Kopecky 79 6 13 19 -7 46 1 1 2 110 5.5 18 L Kirk Maltby 78 5 6 11 -9 28 0 0 1 58 8.6 21 L Ville Leino 13 5 4 9 5 6 0 0 1 17 29.4 43 C Darren Helm 16 0 1 1 -7 4 0 0 0 29 0.0 So you would rather have Malts who had 11 points in 78 games and was a -11 player in the lineup over a kid who had 9 points in 13 games and was a plus 5? I know Malts is a vet, but really? When you are trying to find something, anything, to build upon? Who knows, Leino...might just contribute something that turns this thing around. On the other hand, does anyone truely believe Malts or Kopecky will do so? I love all of our players, but I just think Mike is wrong on this one.

Lets clarify why he was bleeding from the mouth (face). It was because he was coughing up blood from his lungs......from taking the puck to the chest. Not from Holmstroms elbow. At least according to this article... Wiz feeling better

^^^^this. I am almost ashamed of some of you right now. This thread should be done after a team loses, not in the middle of a closely contested one. What bothers me, is that some of you all are worse than Pens fans. They are down 2-0, and still mostly confident over on their boards. Here, we are down 2-1.....in a series where ALL games could have gone either way....and some are ready to throw in the towel. What are parents teaching their children these days??????
-
I sure am glad I didn't play sports or go to war with most of you in here. The wings are down 2-1 in a series in which all three games could have gone either way. Yet, some of you are bailing out already. Grow a pair, grow up, and realize there is much hockey left to be played. Me, I think I will watch and see what happens. This is an organization that has won more cups than anyone over the last 11 or so years. I would much rather have these guys fighting for us down 2-1 than any other team in the league. Comon people, this is not over. Quit being a bunch of little quitters.l

Yes we are down 2-1, but the Sux got just about every bounce and call tonight. Let's just say lady luck has been on their side the last couple of games. And while the wings play in the first left much to be desired tonight, they looked good for parts of the second and the third. At some point, lady luck will shift to us. I have no doubt, but I would like to see Mike put Leino in the lineup to possibly give our 4th or third line more firepower. We need a change of big mo, and inserting some firepower might just do the trick. I mean, I just cannot see what good it does to send out a line that you just know isn't going to score, and it takes goals to win. Yes, having size is great, having goals is better...... and Leino at least gives the bottom of the lineup some punch. Mike....there is no tomorrow....it is time to make adjustments. While your at it, shake up the Datty Hossa line.... They have done nothing. Go with what has done it for us in the past. D and Z must be put back together at some point. And yes I know that Z's line is producing a point a game. But, without giving D and company some confidence to build on (which they would have had if not for a blown call tonight) 1 point a game from our best players is going to have us playing golf by the end of the week. Time to shuffle it up mikey.

So.....by this logic......If player (A) has his head down and gets whacked over the head by a baseball bat swing using a hockey stick (by player B). Then, according to your logic....player B should have no suspension forthcoming? Comon seriously?? Now I can see the argument, that for one's own protection they should have their head on a swivel, but just because someone doesn't.....doesn't mean the rules don't apply if they do not. Your argument is very flawed. So I guess if you have your head down, guys are allowed to do whatever they want to you?

Just wondering if he was available to insert into the lineup if needed? I have looked for playoff rosters and cannot find anything. I have been watching/enjoying hockey for nearly 30 years, and I for some reason don't know how the playoff rosters work. I know how they work in minor league hockey. In the minors you have to set your roster before the playoffs begin. I guess if the NHL doesn't do this, then the question is.....Can we recall players at any time during the playoffs?

Red Wings to use multiple defenders against Anaheim's top line
dawings1905 replied to titanium2's topic in General
It's ironic that this matchup has come to be, but this is exactly why I thought Franzen was more valuable to us, than Huds. (back when most on here were saying keep huds over the mule). The irony is that this exact person (Getzlaf) was the person that was in my head when I was trying to make the argument for keeping Franzen over Huds. Not that Getzlaf is the only big PF in the league, but I just had memories of 2007 when I kept hearing their bench/coaches/players talking about how the wings couldn't handle Getzlafs line. Well hopefully the Mule and others are up to the task this time. I do think that we are in much better shape this time around. -
Contract talks between Wings and Hossa, Franzen on hold
dawings1905 replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Where's all the Hudler's better than Franzen folks??? Crickets......... Franzen 55pts 63 games played Huds 54 pts 74 games played. Now, I know there will be some people that will stubbornly stick with Huds till the end, but those are the same ones that would argue with a hole in a tree. To me there is no question, if it is Huds or Franzen, Franzens a no brainer. I think I recall saying something like that before this streak though, and being in the minority. I also think I remember Ansar saying the same thing. hmmmm... Don't know where this came from by the way. I'll stop being a jerk now. -
Yeah, and you were probably one of the ones saying that you would take Huds over the Mule. Tell me again, how is Huds doing this month? Just sayin.... Everyone wanted to Bash Mule earlier in the season for having somewhat of a slump. Around that time everyone wanted Huds (They playmaker, which we don't have many of) over Franzen (The power Forward, that we have tons of)LOL. So if Franzen was going through a slump, then Huds is in a serious drought. Not saying he is, just making a comparison in those terms of thinking. I think Franzen has proven which one is more valuable to the team. I would be curious as to what Huds and Franzens PPG were now? I wish we could keep them all, and I like Huds. Just think the thought that he is more valuabe than Franzen is a little shaky.

You all are NUTS!!! Dude is the second leading goal scorer on the team with 26. Has 42 points in 55 games after tonight. Which still puts him in the top 7 on the team in points. Some of the guys ahead of him (outside of Dats and Hoss) are Hudler with 50 points in 65 games, z with 57 points in 60 games, Raf with 51 in 65 and lids with 45 in 62. Here is how their PPG breaks out z .95 ppg Raf .784 ppg huds .769 ppg Mule .763 ppg lids .725 ppg Where is this LACK of points you mention? Just curious.
-
Thank god the 3 people on here who want to do this aren't the GM. I mean really, what does Ken Holland know? 4 Cups in 11 years, and regarded as the best run franchise in the sport. But the three geniuses that want to trade the Mule know much more. Settle down kids, the grownups just may know a little more.

I would answer you, if you removed that awful Pic from your profile. Those two with Wings Jersey's makes me sick. Everytime the dudes lips move 2 things happen. 1. Lies come out, and 2. The Stock Market TANKS!!!

Is there a better feed somewhere, someone? maybe justin.tv?

1:01 [Comment From Aaron in class] Should the wings be worried about Franzen? He missed some games due to injurys. Will Franzen be worth signing knowing he might be prone to injury? 1:02 AKhan: He has been injured a lot, now that you mention it. But I wouldn't worry about, and I don't think they are either. He's a top power forward now. 12:02 [Comment From Fabian] Why would the wings sign both Hossa and Franzen and lose Hudler? Hudler in my opinion is just as good as Franzen if not better and will probably come much cheaper. What do you think? 12:03 AKhan: Hudler is good, nobody is arguring that. But players like Franzen, with his size, strength and hands, don't grow on trees. If it comes down to Franzen vs. Hudler, that's a no-brainer as far as I'm concerned, you go with Franzen Egroen.... (sp?) You would almost think this guy is Dawings1905 huh? LOL. Very interesting analysis.
