Is it just me or would I be more than willing to take Bylsma as an assistant, that guy would work wonders with the PP, familiar with Babcock... As for the USA thing, he didn't win gold but come on they faced Canada in the semi's and lost 1-0, that game could have gone either way... also the Finland game, sure it's always embarrassing not to medal but when you come to a tournament avenging a silver and then realize the best you can win is bronze, it's tough for anyone to be motivated Shero on the other hand should definitely go

Not sure why NBC is upset. The Rangers are arguably the most popular team in America... -
Florida willing to trade first overall pick.
anthonyn66 replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
I would be in favour of trading for Ekblad, contrary to what's been said here he was Canada's best defenseman at WJC even though he was (I think) the youngest Dale Tallon is the type of GM who would bite on Franzen, Weiss is another option, it's clear they want roster players and not prospects, look at their prospect pool.. they clearly don't need the first Don't think it'll happen though, I could see a team like Toronto making a move because they have a nice draft pick to give in return as well as players like Kadri who have been mentioned in trades -
Why do we think we're gonna get someone like Pavelski without giving up a ton? Let's not forget that unlike us, San Jose has not lost a trade in a very long time...

If Trouba came to Detroit, all of Winnipeg would personally come after us

Nick Ritchie will be gone for sure. High on the Leaf radar and they're many spots in front

First we need to unload DO NOT resign: The obvious (sammy bert cleary etc), Quincey Find a way to trade: Andersson Kindl Lashoff Sign: Alfie Legwand doesn't fit especially with Weiss coming back, it's a shame we gave up so much for him but maybe we can get something for his rights Seriously our forward depth is ridiculous right now especially with certain players out of options, we should not get another forward, especially with the growth of some of our players Z-Pav-Abdelkader (only because Babcock loves it) Franzen-Weiss-Nyquist Tatar-Sheahan-Alfie Miller-Helm-Glendening Ferraro/Jurco Jurco can't even fit in the lineup even with those moves... It's really too bad we signed Glendening because it's so easy to find players like him, we could have put Abdelkader on that fourth line because it makes more sense.. Then on D Kronwall-Smith Ericsson-RH shot/Sproul Dekeyser-Ouellet Ouellet has had success at every level, including WJC, the Q, AHL, and even in the NHL with his call-ups. He looks better than half of our D on some nights. He's earned his spot.

GDT ECQF - Game 4 - Bruins 3 at Red Wings 2 (F/OT)
anthonyn66 replied to MabusIncarnate's topic in General
Hey guys I'm from Toronto Guess who came a period away from overcoming a 3-1 deficit last year? Also get Xavier Ouellet up here on the third pairing, he could probably help PP unit #2 as well -

Kindl is terrible -
Great for Babcock, great for the Wings Although that goal by Girgensons... holy smokes
-
There are definitely a lot more teams that would pull off a trade for him than not... elite goalscorer and the second most marketed player in the NHL...

Trade Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, Jarnkrok + cond 3rd/2nd
anthonyn66 replied to gcom007's topic in General
Let's have a look at the positives of this trade though: 1. Legwand has 40 points in 60 games under Barry Trotz's Nashville system 2. Legwand waived his NTC to come here, has a place here, so chances are he re-signs here (hopefully for a good cap hit) 3. Our centre depth is ridiculous, and will be for at least another 4-5 years (D,Z, Legwand, Weiss, Helm, Sheahan, Andy, Glendening) which made Jarnkrok expendable (Babcock would have none of that attitude) 4. Legwand has managed to stay relatively healthy most of his career, whereas our other centres are made of glass right now 5. He's got great speed and is a decent 2 way centre (you can't play in Nashville if you're not a 2 way player) All in all, Legwand makes our team look much, much better. He gives us a chance at the playoffs, especially since Datsyuk is now out for three weeks and Helm is out. Andersson as our 1C for one game is one game too many. On another note, I absolutely love Sheahan and his line. Their shifts are easily our most exciting shifts each game. -
Trade Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, Jarnkrok + cond 3rd/2nd
anthonyn66 replied to gcom007's topic in General
Jarnkrok being gone is basically Kenny's way of distracting us from the real deadline cringe-inducing problem: KYLE QUINCEY IS STILL A RED WING -
If we got Myers that would be amazing
-
Great trade for Erat. I feel like he'll do really well under Tippett
-
Almost cheering for a loss today so Holland wakes up and makes a trade
-
We don't have Weber, Doughty, and Pietrangelo ahead on the RH depth chart
-
Are people being serious here? Subban is 24 and is can definitely be a franchise defenceman! Yeah he's got some growing up to do but he's won a Norris and would be great in the Red Wings system, and he has been coached by Babcock before. Sure he was sat out at the Olympics but that's because of the depth Canada had with right handed shots (which by the way we like on our defence). Pat Kane also has 'growing up to do' you would argue but on the ice nobody cares, he puts up the points. Similar things were said when Kessel got traded (doesn't fit the system, blah blah blah) and Seguin (immature, doesn't improve his game, blah blah blah) and look at where they are now with a change of setting With all that being said, there's virtually no chance he ends up in Detroit but if they called us I would put together one hell of a package to land him.

Trade deadline fast approaching - who should we target?
anthonyn66 replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
Let's get Doughty, should be cheap -
What we should do (and the only logical thing to do at this point) is buy out Zetterberg. It's the only way we'll stay competitive the next 10 years. He's a locker room cancer, doesn't produce, I'm sick of him... http://www.wingingitinmotown.com/2011/7/12/2267729/weekly-hate-zetterberg-the-malcontent Maybe this is management's wake up call and after Z, we'll take care of Pavel 'one-dimensional' Datsyuk and Niklas 'soft' Kronwall

Official 2014 Olympic Hockey Thread (Admin warning #316)
anthonyn66 replied to MabusIncarnate's topic in General
People don't realize how good Doughty's defensive game is. He's a great skater who plays really hard, is physical, and of course we all know about his offensive abilities. He's rarely out of position. Let's not forget that he's one of those guys who thrives on the big stage, whether it's the playoffs or the Olympics. Franchise defenceman for the next ten years at least, I'd give up almost anyone on our team to have him. -
Love Gord Miller. One of TSN's best along with Chris Cuthbert.
