Wings & Yandle twitter-rumors? Believable?
anthonyn66 replied to Manny>Ozzie(by a long shot)'s topic in General
My God Flip and Nyquist and a first are HUGE to give up, we better get someone else back in return. Our top six doesn't look great without em, I loved seeing Nyquist and Datsyuk on a line, and Flip and Z on a line. Franzen-Datsyuk-Bertuzzi Brunner-Z-Sammy?? -
As per The Morning Sun. http://www.themornin...market-&pager=1

There was some trade talk on other teams' forums about a possible trade because of his struggle this year. A bad year for him but he's still got ample time to grow, has played in an all star game, has sweet hands. Great signing by the Avalanche IMO (low hit and still RFA) and hope he turns it around.

I like our chances a lot if we can play 5 lines a game! Wouldn't we need to balance it out with 4 defensive lines though?

I think the problem is that the team lacks heart. You could see on the last few minutes of the game when we were down, Nashville worked a hell of a lot harder than Detroit did, and it all culminated to the Legwand goal on the forecheck. We lack urgency, we don't show signs of desperation. Babcock probably has the "stay calm" mentality in them, but I think that message wears out very quickly and can become ineffective, especially with players that have already won the cup. I that's the biggest problem, the younger players that have won a cup are all happy with that and don't seem to have the motivation to work their asses off for another post season. They aren't coming to the end of their careers, so they assume they can make a run the next year. This is true for players like Hudler, Filppula, Franzen. The players that don't have a cup are playing their best but simply aren't big enough or gritty enough to make a huge impact. These are the Nyquists, Emmertons, Mursaks, Millers, etc. I feel getting some grittier players who are hungry, for both top 6 and bottom 6 would help this team a lot.

Scary and unrealistic thought but kinda funny in a way: For s***s and giggles, someone claims Ty Conklin off waivers so that we have to play a Pearce-McCollum tandem or something...

Do you have any players that, you hate simply because they were good against Detroit? Past and present, guys you really have no good reason to hate except for their performances against Detroit. My list: -Max Talbot, for obvious reasons -Setoguchi, although he dives -Couture -Pavelski -Jordan Staal -Malkin Every time they hit I want it to be a penalty, and for whatever reason I assume every penalty they draw is a dive. Whenever they touch the puck I'm just thinking "that little son of a *****". I just can't stand those players. And I just get that much more pissed off whenever they score against us. Players I used to hate: -Giguere -Roy -Forsberg -Gelinas Do you have any players that you hate under these circumstances?

I could really see this being Howard's year for the playoffs.

Pronger is a good defenseman but there are plenty of reasons to hate him, he's a goon. Same with Players like Thornton who give you additional reasons to hate, like when dove at the contact of Franzen's stick

Ruutu would definitely be what Babcock wants. I think what Babcock means by a heavy winger is a gritty power forward who can score like Franzen and Bert. Ruutu fits all that criteria. -He always gets a lot of hits every year (308 last year, a drop this year but on pace for almost 200). Ruutu can throw some huge hits, which is what we all seem to miss. -On pace to match his goalscoring total from last year, which is 19 goals, and may pass his career high 26, especially playing with more skilled players -He got 38 assists last year, so he can dish the puck as well (like Bertuzzi). The drop in assists this year is probably because of him not playing with enough talent on his line or not being able to develop chemistry because the lines are juggled all the time in Carolina. The coaching situation is not good, either. Last year when he played with Skinner and Jokinen, they lit it up, and I think if Hudler is moved down then Flip-Z-Ruutu would make a great line. -The Flip-Z-Hudler line is an imbalance anyways, not a very physical line, there isn't good size, and Flip and Hudler (and even Z to an extent) are both playmakers. I think every line needs a physical power forward and that's where Ruutu comes in. With the way Hudler has been playing, I think we could get away with sending him for Ruutu. Morrow is also a great option but he'd be more expensive I think, although he's played for Babcock before which is always a plus.

Winter Classic at Michigan Stadium Finalized

When it comes to hockey, I'm pretty superstitious. Check out this weird pattern: 2008 WC: Pittsburgh at Buffalo, Pittsburgh wins the cup the next year 2009 WC: Detroit at Chicago, Chicago wins the cup the next year 2010 WC: Philadelphia at Boston, Boston wins the cup the next year 2011 WC: Washington at Pittsburgh this is probably the least likely year it will happen, but its an interesting pattern for sure -
Some reasons why 24/7 show ratings probably won't be an issue: -Its the Leafs. Almost all of Ontario will be tuning into that -The Red Wings arguably have the most fans worldwide. -Canada would probably want to see its gold medal winning coach Babcock behind the scenes -Both are good and exciting to watch, especially when playing against each other -Both teams are prone to streaks and breakdowns which will make things more interesting for the show My last, selfish point is that they might try to have the two teams play each other before the WC for 24/7 purposes, which would mean they play in Toronto at the ACC beforehand (because the WC game is in Detroit), which means I get to see the Wings in Toronto

does anyone have the full list of Red Wings prospects that will be at our game? I'm thinking Pulkkinen, Jurco, Mrazek, but is there anyone else?
-

It'll be interesting because Wiz has beef with Detroit and C64 has beef with the Jackets... They should fight
-
High price isn't an issue, aren't they trying to get closer to the cap anyways?
-
I think he'd take this offer, LA is now a contender and Doughty has already played with Richards on Team Canada, Gold Medal winners, and there's no way LA would let him slip away.
-
After 2009 he is forever an enemy of the Wings it would be so weird to see him in a Wings uniform

We could never lose a shootout with Pav and Wolski shooting for us

Latest Rumor: NHL Team Expected to Announce Rebranding in 2012
anthonyn66 replied to Hockey13Playa's topic in General
I really hope its not Nashville. Nashville has become a very successful hockey team and the city has gotten used to the name and embraced it. Besides, if not for the Preds name, where would they get that claw gesture? -
Have any of you seen this jersey? I've never seen it and I really only thought the Wings had the striped jerseys back in the 90s, the Winter Classic Cougars throwback, and their regular jerseys.
-
And this is why I want Chicago in. Vancouver will get worn out badly by these Hawks, they may possibly do what Anaheim did a couple years ago to the Sharks, if not then Vancouver will be exhausted. Travel and facing a high scoring team might just get to them.

2002 against the Avs 2007 against the Flames 2009 against the Ducks 2010 against the Yotes 2008 against the Avs

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. They had that on a site and I've never seen that ever before, I was just wondering.
