Except that Bolland can't score for crap, and Fil can actually dangle and get stuff done offensively. Meanwhile, Fil is used as a shutdown center (obviously not to the same extent Z and Dats are) while Bolland isn't.

I actually really like those lines, though I worry about any line with Homer and Mule together in our defensive zone.

You really think that Parise is a $3.125m quality player? Your point is valid, but Parise is due to be paid a hell of a lot more than $3.125m next year. Filppula is right on-par with Cleary in terms of pay. I'd say he's worth more, as he's a second line-quality center, something we don't have (Dats and Z are first line centers in terms of pay and quality). Bolland is a joke to compare to Filppula.

You're obviously not a stat checker, or else you'd have a clue. Every goalie lets in soft goals. It's a fact. It's how often they keep your team in the game with the ability to win the game that matters, and Howard keeps the Wings in the game with some huge saves, as does Ozzie. You have no idea what you're talking about. 2.67/9.11 is fine for a sophomore goalie in the NHL. Let's also not forget that Howard has the second most wins in the NHL right now, one behind Price and Price has a hell of a lot more losses.

Not statistically accurate. Dats has 12 goals, Z has 24 assists. Even if he assisted every Dats goal (which he hasn't), that's still only half of his assists. He also has the same amount of goals as Dats after last night. Just FYI.

I actually try to get tickets as high up as I can and either center ice or behind a goal so that I can see more of the play. That they're cheaper as you get higher up is just an added benefit.

The only thing I really had a problem with (and not much of one) was the Ericsson penalty. It was exceptionally weak compared to everything that was let go (Helm getting mauled from behind, Zetterberg sitting on someone behind the net, etc), and it led directly to the first Chicago goal. It's not huge, and the Wings should have played better instead of looking like crap, but I'd rather refs swallow their whistles for the whole game and not call ticky-tacky crap, or call it at least 50% of the time. I'm guessing a lot of people had the CSN feed tonight via the NHL Network (as I did), so they wouldn't have even heard it.

No ref would ever have called a penalty shot on Howard unless Jimmy had mistakenly given him a facewash instead of Crosby. A Blackhawk (Sharp?) was skating through the crease and in real-time it looked like his skate caught on the stick. It's exceptionally easy for Ed Olczyk to sit there in the booth looking at a few screens and watching the slow-mo replay to say "that should be a penalty!" after the fact, but during the game? Yeah, no ref is going to take the chance and make the potentially awful call of the year. Just saying, because I know you haven't been watching hockey that long.

This, or get the Avs to come out, or get the Ducks. The Ducks would make for a good rivalry game, since they always play us pretty tough. The Leafs aren't very far removed from being one of our rivals, though, from back in the Norris Division (81-92). I don't think a lot of people would mind seeing a Wings/Hawks round 2, though, myself included. I'd of course have to go, to balance it out, seeing as I went to the last Winter Classic.

Need Maltby and Draper going with pranks on the team, then it would be entertaining.

His oldest son is in Sweden happily going to school and living with relatives, and I assume that Lids has enough money that his son can come home for holidays. Doubt children are much of an issue after the first one leaves the nest, frankly. Yeah it's rough, but parents can deal with it more easily when there's a prior experience to fall back on.

I have to agree. I don't much like Crosby, but the show is fantastic. It really brings a human element to the game that we all love. FWIW I hate Crosby's whining as much as anyone, but he seems like a fun guy off the ice. Cooke is still a ******, though. Love Bylsma, too. The guy seems like he's an awesome coach. Boudreau...

Wouldn't count on it. I was wearing my Winter Classic Wings hat at a Hawks game (nothing else that was Wings-flavored) and almost got a beer dumped on me. Some of the biggest assholes go to Hawks games. I miss the times when my dad had friends with boxes at the UC, way better to watch a game without assholes hassling us.

If I remember correctly, it was $55. Normally Wings stuff is $47 at SportsK, but it's normally only one color.

They're two of the players that will make a play every single game where you have to rewind your DVR and just go, "wait, what the hell did he just do?!" in a good way. Maybe I exaggerate for Lidstrom, but I know I do that all the time, mainly because I'm a defenseman that's about Lids' size (i.e. not very big), so I try to emulate his game as much as possible.

Impossible to go wrong getting a Dats jersey. There really aren't enough out there (same with Lids, IMO).
