No. Nick got all of the hockey talent in that family, obviously.
-
Yeah, probably a bad title for a thread here, when you're talking about STAFFAN Kronwall.
-
This. Throw him in the damn pool, see if he sinks or swims. If he sucks, Ozzie is ready to go. If he plays like he did against LA, then we're good. Either way, I'd say we'll be alright, but I'm a strong advocate of tossing guys into a situation where they're gonna be just a bit out of their depth to stretch their potential and see what they've got.

The Wings will probably be home before the Hawks roll into the D, since the Stars game is an afternoon game and the Hawks game is at night.
-
Howard is 3rd in the NHL in both GAA (2.14) and Sv% (.928), for the record.
-
Uh...they did.

This attitude of entitlement is crazy and incredibly stupid. I'm almost beyond words at this point because it's so asinine.

Lidstrom won't announce future plans till after season
Theophany replied to FunkedUp's topic in General
Can't perform at a high level? Uh, am I the only one that realizes that Lidstrom has 20 points thus far (which isn't amazing, but isn't bad, considering our offensive woes) and is playing 25+ mins a night, while still being our most defensively-sound player? Lidstrom can play just fine at the level we need him to play at. -
Pretty much every goal of his has been complete garbage in front of the net. I love them, but they're still garbage goals. He may score a few skill goals every once in a while, but he's exactly what we need on a team loaded with skill players—a guy that has insane speed and 200% effort that will get the garbage goals and will check his ass off every shift he's on the ice. At this point he's looking like he'll end up being more of a mix between Cleary and Draper; Draper's speed and defensive ability, Cleary's checking and garbage-goal scoring. Draper's checking, too, I guess.

His name is HOMER!

If Howard keeps up his current 'tending abilities, it's probably gonna be close between him and Myers. If the Wings make the playoffs with Howard still in the starting role, I'd expect him to get it (as he'd be a huge part of us getting there).
-
That would be a lot more reasonable, but you'd get fans bitching because they suck at math and can't add halves.
-
I would have put Datsyuk as #2 and Helm as #3, but that's kind of a minor detail. Either way, Howard looked great (again), and our offense finally started showing up and controlling the puck. Good stuff, and two points. I'll take it.

AOL Radio also has 97.1. That's what I use.

Jimmy Howard to start VS San Jose; Brad May replaces Ville Leino

You're correct. Also, this is gonna be a tough one. After the abortion of the last game (minus Howard), we really need to come out firing on all cylinders.

Detroit (and the rest of the midwest) is probably about as close as you can come to Siberia while still being in the US. I would think it would have a lot to do with family still living over there, and the obscene amounts of money they're getting offered.

Twitter has known about this for hours! HOURS! -
In reality, the KHL cannot compete with the NHL on a financial level. Maybe it can if the NHL continues to try and introduce (and keep) teams into non-hockey/sports markets, but in reality the US/Canada are much wealthier countries than any that support the KHL. The only reason that it might be close is because the NHL is 4th among sports in the US, where the KHL is probably 1st among it's constituents. If push came to shove, the NHL would do away with the salary cap and bring players back that way, though I don't think it will come to that.

There is no way Osgood leaves Detroit.

Guess that goes to show why we're not the head coaches and Babcock is. As much armchair GM/coaching as people around here do (I do it as well), most of the time we just need to realize that Babcock is WAY more qualified than we are and his CV is a hell of a lot more impressive. The same could be said for Holland.

Posted this in the Howard thread, but I'm posting this here too, for all of us that doubted Howard coming into this season (and because it's awesome):
-
Sup guys. Let's all have some.
-
Awesome! Well, not awesome, but you get the picture (oh s*** puns!).

Duh, everyone knows that once you've been injured, you can't get injured again in the same season!
