I would rather he get another Norris, personally. Just to sorta cement how damn good he is.
-
Bring back the Victoria Cougars! He should actually take advantage of how sports-starved Seattle is during the winter and bring back the Seattle Metropolitans, honestly. The Seattle Sounders were literally the most successful first-year sports team in the history of modern sports; I see no reason that bringing hockey back in a big way wouldn't be equally as successful.

Actually Reebok owns CCM, so that's kinda Canadian. Then again, Adidas owns RBK, so that makes RBK jerseys German...
-
This just in: Hawks will now play Kane/Toews/Hossa 30 minutes a night, the rest to be made up by AHL players.
-
I like the Leino/Bert switch. I feel like both lines are a lot more balanced now. We'll probably see a rotation on third pairing again, though Meech has been playing some pretty solid hockey (even if he does need to figure out how to shoot on target).

Ever heard of a fashion faux pas? Yup, same sort of thing; those in the know think it's bad taste or bad form to do something.
-
Because there aren't any current Oilers that are worth getting on their jersey? Seriously though, I guess we just have a difference of opinion about what constitutes a jersey foul.
-
Uh, what? Tiger Woods ring any bells? Team of the decade is pretty easy; '02 Red Wings were ridiculous. Looking at that team's roster looks like a who's-who of who you'd have wanted on your fantasy team at the time. Athlete is a bit harder; Phelps' record medal count is incredibly hard to replicate, and is harder to judge because the Olympics only happen every 4 years. Nick Lidstrom is a viable choice because he's able to be mentioned in the same breath as Orr and other defense greats. Tiger Woods is my choice though, because of his complete domination of the PGA. It's not even close. Not only was he favored to make the cut in every single tournament he entered, not to mention favored to WIN. Oh, and he's also the first billionaire athlete.

So it's ridiculous for kids now to get Gretzky, Messier, etc on their Oilers (or Kings/Rangers) jerseys, despite never having seen them play? Sorry, you're sounding a little too much like a whiny snob. It's one thing to have a problem with people putting ridiculous crap like 'Stanley Cups' on the back of jerseys, but it's quite another to take issue with fans that want to respect the history of their team. Just because a player didn't play in the appropriate era doesn't mean that it's a jersey foul to get their name put on a jersey, especially for someone like Stevie Y, who has had such a tremendous impact on the organization as a whole. Even more when you consider that the RBK have very few things that are dissimilar, when compared to the old CCM/Koho jerseys.
-
Not really, unless you have a problem with people that have Howe, Delvecchio, Abel, etc on jerseys instead of sweaters.
-
The cheaper ones are nice because they're...cheaper. I like having one authentic, though, especially since mine is a Winter Classic. If you get a premium jersey customized from SportsK, they're almost impossible to tell from the authentic jerseys unless you notice the back; there's stitching for the fight strap that shows on the back of the jerseys. I honestly don't notice the fight strap.

http://cdn2.ioffer.com/img/item/101/402/69...PjrC68nLER4.jpg You can see it through the jersey; it's basically a thick strap of material that has two snaps on it with velcro. Authentics and replicas fit about the same, but authentics are made with much better material (they're exactly the same as the jerseys that the players wear). Authentics have a different sizing system, though. CCM authentics are different than the RBK authentics. SportsK sells stuff they get directly from Reebok (and CCM, because Reebok owns them), so they're exactly the same as the stuff you'd get from NHL.com.

MAF is also one of the most overpaid players in the NHL, and overrated. He's inconsistent as hell, too. Or at least he was; not sure how winning a Cup has changed him.
-
As long as we continue to clear his rebounds, I see no problems. He's made some huge stops. He's much like Hiller was, only with a bit of a worse Sv%; he forces the defense in front of him to clear the huge rebounds he gives up, but if they can keep the puck from in front of him, he can come up with some great games.
-
Could happen, but only until Franzen or Williams get back. Once one of them is back, Abdelkader is back in GR.
-
If you want a Winter Classic jersey, get one from SportsK. You're going to end up paying more than $100 for one that looks real anyway; you might as well get an official one (since they're $98 there). Pretty much 98% of the Winter Classic Jerseys on eBay and various places are knockoffs that are really terrible.
-
It should mainly be because he's playing on the first line and isn't playing like a first-liner. We don't have any other options, though, so I'll be crying in relief and happiness when Franzen is back.
-
Helm is not, nor will ever be a goal scorer. He's Kris Draper v2.0. Helm is a center, thus will never play with Datsyuk. End.
-
Err, you know Zetterberg is pretty much on par with Datsyuk, right? Datsyuk is more flashy, thus gets more recognition around the league. Datsyuk has also never hit 100 points. 97 the past two seasons has been his high. Postseason isn't counted. I don't understand why you're hating on Zetterberg and trying to pimp Datsyuk so hard, to be frank. Both are great players, and both should be held to approximately the same expectations. Zetterberg is producing, Datsyuk is 7 points behind; oh God the world is ending because people are talking out of their asses about Pavel not producing?
-
Actually, odds are if he still has family in Russia, he is involved in the Russian mob. Just sayin'.

I've got three Lidstrom jerseys (he's been my favorite player since I was 7, back in 1991). One home, one away, one Winter Classic. There are eight (active) names that are completely safe on a Wings jersey: Lidstrom, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Draper, Franzen, Filppula, Kronwall, and Osgood. Of those, Zetterberg is far and away the most popular, and to be frank, I'm sick of seeing thousands of #40 jerseys (it's eerily similar to #1 in Vancouver). My own preference is Datsyuk, Franzen, or Filppula. Datsyuk is one of the superstars of the team, but you almost never see his jersey around. Same thing to a lesser extent with Franzen. Kronwall is just a badass jersey to have, and he'll probably be my next jersey (in a couple years). I would definitely steer clear of Zetterberg jerseys, though, if you want to actually stand out. Same thing with Yzerman jerseys.

I would assume that SportsK can do it. I'd email them to ask before buying though. Adding stuff afterwards isn't a big deal for them, though it takes a LONG time. (~2 weeks to ship to them via UPS, 3-4 weeks customization, ~2 weeks back) If you're looking for decent places around Detroit that you can physically go to, there's a place called the Pointe After in Grosse Pointe (corner of Mack and Moross). They do some great customization work, from what I've seen, but are probably a little more pricey than Sportsk.
-
Yep, you're right; a player that just came off a season winning his sixth Norris doesn't deserve to renew his contract for two years at $7.45m a year. What were the Wings thinking, signing the best defenseman in the league to a two year deal?!
-
You want to put a guy with no scoring touch with a playmaker? Do you have any knowledge of hockey at all? Had you said Eaves, fine. Helm? Really? Helm is fast and creates a lot of opportunities, but he's got a terrible scoring touch. Everyone who watched the last game (St Louis) saw that.
