Give him time. He's got pretty much everything BUT hands at the tender age of 22. The more time he gets, the more he'll develop.
-
I just want a defender that doesn't trip in open ice, TBH.
-
If Eaves has been trucking, what has Helm been doing? I mean, other than putting on his rocket skates.
-
I would rather see Wings crashing the net at this point than making too many passes. Good on Bert if he wants to take it to the net and score; more of our guys could use that kind of attitude.

I'd rather have the Yankees win than any team from Philadelphia. Sports fans from Philadelphia are annoying pricks 99.9999999% of the time. Same can be said for New York sports fans, but I don't encounter them enough to have a true hatred for them. Also, Philadelphia fans are some of the most ungrateful fans in sports.

This is my exact feeling on the subject. With the rest of the team seeming to abandon their defensive efforts until recently, I see Nick as having to step up something serious on the defensive side of the puck, and he's had to leave a lot of situations—when he'd normally pinch, force a turnover, and produce a shot—to get to a more defensive position. I see that as a larger part of his "lack" of offensive production. Though the guy is still +7 on a team that has been struggling for a month now, so that's gotta say something. Also, Chara's wife is huge. I mean, the guy is 6'9" and she STILL comes up to above his shoulder?

Stuart gets more ice time and has a worse +/-. Why aren't you on his case? Also, as I said, he was pointing out that it's a dumb thread because the team isn't losing solely because Ericsson is on the ice. You're committing a huge fallacy when you imply that Ericsson not being on the roster is the only (or at least primary) cause of us only letting in one goal, when the more likely cause is that Ozzie played better, or the team tightened up defensively, or that Lidstrom was pulling more minutes, or that forwards were backchecking harder, or any one of the hundreds of causes that I could think of. Marcus pointed out that Filppula was out for the last two games to show how ridiculous your argument was; one person is not going to be the cause of 3-5 goals by the opposition—the more logical assumption is that the team played better as a whole.

But MARIAN HOSSA will be back soon to carry them to the CUP FINALS. Nevermind that they won't win, but it'll be the furthest they've gotten in like 30-40 years!
-
I think the defense plays better when they actually play defense, clear the crease, and don't stand around like pylons. Is it really shocking that when that happens (regardless of who is on the ice) that the team plays defense well? As I said in the Ericsson thread, correlation does not imply causation.
-
He was pointing out how dumb this thread is. Just as Filppula's absence isn't the cause of the wins, neither is Ericsson's. It's a different day, and the Wings are solidifying as a team that can (finally) play team hockey. Correlation doesn't imply causation.

I think they deleted yours because it was pretty similar to my thread from a week or two ago. Same basic theme: JakeRyan can suck it.

There's no "D" in Kronwall or Stuart or Rafalski either. If you meant that he's a poor defensive player, then say it, don't make up a stupid word play to try and get your point across. Stuart/Lebda only works if Stuart plays how he did in Calgary. If he plays how he's played for most of the season thus far (i.e. a pylon), the second pair is almost worse off than the third.
-
It certainly helps (Eaves) that half the team either has H1N1 or some long-term injury.
-
You know, I expected "THIS IS SPARTA!" jokes to get old after a while. But it's now three years later, and it's still hilarious. I foresee a Wings win at home. With so many guys out, we're starting to develop that sense of urgency.
-
He plays darts. "Oh man, I have to pair Lebda and Meech? C'mon you stupid board, stop making me do that."

Janik is recalled from GR. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/20...enseman_do.html

Ericcson Likely Out Tonight With Flu-Like Symptoms
Theophany replied to ShanahanMan's topic in General
Whoa whoa whoa, don't start with this 'leaps and bounds' stuff. Ericsson is a rookie, and he plays like one. Yes Meech is a definite downgrade, but he's not 'leaps and bounds' better than Lebda and Meech. Stop looking at his Playoff play last year, and start looking at how he's played thus far this year. -
I think he meant Ozzie. Not totally sure, though.
-
Was actually Ericsson that turned it over on the first goal, FYI. Lebda gave him a pretty s*** pass, then he left it hanging on his left as he was gliding around the net, Avs player tapped his stick, stole the puck, passed in front. If it were Rafalski, he would have had the puck on the board-side (being right-handed), ergo not Rafalski. Your point remains, though. The Finn Line has been our most solid thus far.
-
If they were playing like crap it would be one thing, but people seem to think that the entire team sucked tonight when we had FIFTY shots on goal. Anderson was hot tonight. It happens. Ericsson and Lebda made some mistakes that cost us a goal and most of our momentum.
-
.909 Sv% is pretty good, bro. I'd take him over Ozzie at this point, if he keeps putting up .900+ Sv% all year.
-
I keep wondering what games people who say Homer can't play 5 on 5 hockey are watching. He's looked great (better than he has in years, very similar to Maltby) thus far in the season. Oh, and he's leading the team in goals. BTW, Howard was .909 Sv% tonight. That's pretty damn good. If he keeps that up, put him in net every damn game.
-
Unfortunately Luongo is the next goalie on the schedule, so no luck there.
-
Oh, for sure. Just saying a lot of people are blaming ONLY Lebda for mistakes made on D when it's been BOTH of them. I fully expected E to play like a rookie; he had literally an amazing playoffs last year, and this is more in line with the kind of play you expect from rookie defensemen. I think, though, that he should be playing with Lidstrom, Rafalski, or Kronwall; he need a guy that's experienced working with him, not the fifth-year rookie defenseman.
-
I thought Howard looked great in net compared to his first start. Something has to give with Ericsson, though. He's made a LOT of retarded decisions, and getting stripped in your own zone to turn around and get a goal scored from that stripping is ridiculous. Someone teach the kid how to protect the puck. Every time he and Lebda are on the ice together, I just wait for s*** to go horribly, awfully wrong.
