I think that's a given, based on past performance. Leino and Fil really proved that they belong in the top 6, and do we really need to talk about the Euro Twins? It's a given that they'll produce, being on a line together. Hell, they'd produce if they were the only two on the line. The main concern then, is plugging wingers in on those lines. Bert on the first and Cleary on the second works, but I'm concerned about Homer on the third line. When Helm is back it shouldn't be a problem, but if Abdelkader is still centering that line and Williams is the other wing, Homer seems to be a liability.

I think barring career-ending injuries, you have to consider #13 and #40, but as you said, we need to see how the next 10 years go. If they keep going as they are, I don't see why they wouldn't be retired when the time comes.

Don't know why you'd put Bert on line one instead of Homer, he's a pylon like Homer but he has no redirection skill. Oh, he's also slower and lazier than Homer, which is like a world record.

I'm of the opinion that only #5 deserves to be hanging in the rafters of the players close to retirement (i.e. 35+). No 91, no 24, no 16, no 30, etc. As another poster in this thread said, 'if you need to have a discussion about whether they belong, they don't'.

Meaningless association between Lids and Homer; Homer sits on top of a goalie every night and takes endless abuse for it, while Lids doesn't get much physical contact that he doesn't initiate. That's the main cause of decline in the NHL, and with Lidstrom's style of play, he'll be good for a bit yet. Maybe not for top-pairing minutes, but he should be good for 20 a night.
