I was thinking more along the lines of Hudler.
-
A bit of hyperbole here. He's a loss on the blue line, but not a huge one, much less a HUGE one. Stuart's play in the defensive end led directly to at least one goal against tonight, as his play has in a lot of games this season. I'll miss him, but probably not nearly as much as a lot of you will.
-
That was more a shot at the people around here who think Fil isn't a top-6 forward and that we should trade him, I think. Edit: he's been centering the second line for a while now, every time Dats and Z get paired up or any time Z or Dats are out with an injury.

I thought it was more along the lines of "$3 million legs, 10 cent hands." Either way, definitely true.

As noted, I'm pretty much the only person to spend $350 on a jersey in this thread, and that was because Winter Classic authentic jerseys are extremely rare, especially finding one in my size (I saw a lot of 50, 54, and 56s, only ever saw the one 52). I had the money and spent it on the only jersey I'll wear until it falls apart (though I still have a replica Lidström 2010 Olympic jersey that I wear sometimes). You can get an authentic customized jersey for $245. You can get a customized replica for $128. $50 for a cheap knock-off jersey makes sense if you can't afford a jersey, but personally I'd rather just wear a Wings t-shirt instead of something that looks as bad as knock-offs generally do. I can understand the appeal of a $50 jersey, but looks are important to me, and knock-offs don't look like real Wings jerseys.

I would try this site: http://www.customthrowbackjerseys.com/categories/NHL-Hockey-Jerseys-/Detroit-Red-Wings/ As long as you're not going for a Stevie Y 1992 throwback, they should all be pretty legit replicas (the Stevie Y ones have an incorrect Captain's C).

It's the Hall of Fame, not the Hall of I'm Awesome at My Position. It's not about being the best at your position, it's about being important to hockey history. I'm not saying that Osgood deserves to be in, but there are worse players in the HOF than Ozzie. As far as the topic of this thread, there's about a 20% chance that he gets his number retired right now. It'll go up as he climbs the all-time win list, but I doubt it'll ever be 100% unless he's #1 in all-time wins (which will never happen), or unless he's the #1 goalie when we win another Cup.
-
It's not a replica, but alright. Sorry I s*** all over your bad fake.
-
So now we're going to get into the authentic/replica/fake debate? This hasn't been done before. Probably in the neighborhood of $350-400, as it's authentic. I have no problem with it either, as it'll last me an incredibly long time and won't look like crap.
-
Look at your pics, then look at mine. It's a pretty obvious fake. I noticed a ton of them when I went to the New Years Eve game, so at least you're not alone.
-
Howard has a better win% in games he's started and a better sv%. That said, I think it'll be more of a split until Jimmy gets back to dominating as he has been.
-
That's because there isn't one out there to be had. He's exactly what the Wings need in a second line center.
-
Nah. I wanna see some good hockey. I may be flying home, though, so I don't know if I'll get to see it. I'll definitely DVR it.
-
Very little, from what I understand. Most sports writers that are voting on it are actually watching games, not just looking at a stat sheet (though it may seem like it with Green's nominations in the past).
-
Stuart just isn't solid enough defensively right now to play with Lids.
-
I prefer Grammar Nazi, thank you. It's amazing how stupid you look when you screw up grammar that most 10 and 11 year-olds should know.
-
-
This is literally one of the dumbest posts ever written, just for the awful grammar used. Also, you realize that Bettman doesn't read LGW, right?
-
Bench Stuart for Kindl.
-
Stuart's job is to not suck at hockey. He hasn't been doing his job. Irrational rage much, btw?
-
Well, Cleary's probably out. Way to go, Stuart. He's already on my list, but now he just jumped to #1.
-
NHL Network has it. If you don't have Center Ice though, I think you're boned.
-
Actually, the NFL has ties as well. Happened last year.
-
Pretty much what I was thinking of, and would give HBO an excuse to make 24/7 a regular miniseries that they do every year. Use venues like college football stadiums, baseball parks, etc for the outdoor experience. Maybe even make different venues present a bid to get the Winter Classic there similar to the Superbowl or the Olympics. The NHL could then determine where it'll be played. I just think that would be way more interesting than arbitrarily deciding who gets to go. It would thrust good teams into the spotlight even if they normally don't get it (like the Sharks).
-
Should be the teams that finished #1 in each conference the year prior (i.e. this year would be the Sharks and Caps). It would be a nice way to recognize teams that had the best record in each conference outside of the President's Trophy, and a way to get different teams into the Winter Classic without the tinfoil hat crowd whining that the league is pandering to the new hockey fans. It would be a pretty cool tradition, IMO.
