Heritage, Societal norms, Native rituals....all things that need to be considered about a culture that you know little about BEFORE you judge it. Give me break with the moral judgement about another persons culture.

if you look at other teams D corps...we have an average or slightly better than average defense. I think its very hard to not look back there and think " Holy Crap, we suck" because we have been elite for so long BUT most team, you get to the third pairing, hear their name and think " Oh hm...OR who the hell is that". we will be ok. I think the CC signing!

Since the while CBA stuff has currently left me missing hockey and not feeling very optimistic, let's play a game If you had an opportunity to sit down and have a drink or have dinner with one CURRENT and you couldn't talk hockey, who would you choose and why? For me I think I would pick to sit down with Tootoo and have a candid conversation about addiction and if he felt that the league "looked away" if they knew someone was struggling. I also would want to talk to an " enforcer" about losing Boogard, Rypian, Belak and the early departures of some of hockey's biggest personalities and if he worried he would slip into that headspace. Thoughts?

I think he would bring some consistency and experience back there. He had had a few rough seasons but it has already been said that he was Norris worthy and an offensive asset three seasons ago. I would really like him in Detroit.

Actually Datsyuk and Bert would round out my top 3. They have lived much more than what you see in 3 periods of hockey. Cleary and Eaves would also be interesting because they were first round picks, highly touted and then had to reinvent themselves to remain in the game. Too many choices!

I think we are going to be better than most people think we are. We got an upgrade with our goalie corps and a small upgrade on offensive. Lets see what they guys on the blueline have. We arent a lock to win the conference like we were 5 years ago but its definately playoff worthy.

You really see Flip as a third liner playing with players who will not help him and Brunner and Gus who are unproven get to play with dats and Z? No

I love the kid too...he is going to be a force on the blueline but do you really think Smith, having played a whopping 14 games in the NHL is gonna start the year next to Kronwall on the top line? If he has an unbeleivable year, he may end there, which would be awesome. I hope we do get Carlo- it gives us depth. It also gives Smitty a chance to be around a guy who has been in the league a few years too.

I have an undenialble hatred for Hasek. Every time someone mentions him being a wing or winning the cup, I get twitchy. It all started when he was with Buffalo. A friend of mine won a " day at the rink" with the Sabres and his 9 year old son was a HUGE Dom fan. The kid only went to see Dom...he talked about it for 5 weeks straight ( I worked with his dad and played hockey on a co ed team with him. Anyway, day at the rink comes, Dave and his kid Tyler go. He takes a poster of " The Dominator" with him and cheers Dom for 2 hours straight. The kid is so excited he barfed the morning before because he was gonna meet Dom. At the end of the skate, he is supposed to meet Hasek and Hasek LEAVES the ice. Finally the " day at the rink sponsor go back to the rooms and get Dom to come back out and Dom is pissed.....he said his leg was bothering him, was speaking in czech, wouldn't sign the poster...generally bein the biggest d* ever. I hated him from that moment on. I had heard he was very good with kids prior but that just sent me into a tailspin. Once he got to Detroit, I WANTED to like him....but he was such a prima Donna. Even when he played well, I'd find myself secretly loathing him or thinking " why can't you wear a normal helmet??" I nearly lost my cheese in 08 when we were playing Nashville and he couldn't stop a beach ball the 1st two games. I cant explain the joy i felt when Ozzie came in...lol. Anyway...still I don't like Dom ( obviously) but I get that he was brilliant here at times. Ick.

No...just no Agreed! Im not even sure he has that! Ever since that idiotic goal celebration against Detroit in the playoffs where he got concussed, he is not even close to being the player he was. Maybe we can resign Hasek too??

Totally agree. The Big Rig gets alot of "goat time" on this team. I think he will see the opportunity and be the defenseman we all saw back in 08. In addition, I am dying to see what Brunner's got. I think he is going to fill out a Wings jersey perfectly!

Ok, the defense would be killer but just LOOK at the second line you concocted. Really? You know we also have to SCORE goals too, right? Also, thats a whole lotta talent for Myers, a young kid who has had one good season....Not a great, superlative or amazing season- it was a good season.

I think it will be very interesting to see how the Blues do this year. For the first time in many years, they will experience the weight of expectations. They felt that in the playoffs and were flat and completely underperformed. The same will be said for the Wings. It's the 1st year in a long time that they aren't expected to win the division....or even expected to do much of anything. That may work to our advantage, depending on how the new Wings fit into the system. I hope we add a few parts before training camp but if not, it's a different Central!
