Didn't miss your point at all. Your point just didn't make any sense. You asked why people were judging Quincey by his offense. So we told you why. Was there some other hidden point in there? If so I guess I didn't see it.
-
Yeah, they're called low-paid players. Not players making almost 4 million a season. Generally, defenseman making that much are either really good at one end or both ends, or at least "good" at both ends.
-
It's a measuring point for Quincey because that's suppose to be the type of D-man he is. He's never been a shut-down or stay-at-home defenseman. So if he's bringing almost no offense to the table, he better be stepping it up big time on the defensive end. And so far he has barely showed up on the scoresheet and has been mediocre on the defensive end at best. If he were a high-level shut-down defenseman you would definitely have a point. But he's not (or even close to it). And the almost every game bonehead penalties seem to be the most consistent part of his game. So basically that's why people find it laughable that he is our 2nd highest paid D-man, and makes more $ than Jonathan Ericsson.

Kyle Quincey is quite possibly the most overpayed D-man in the league (at least in terms of production).

Andersson breaks foot - down another center
TheDetroitRedWings replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
As crazy as this sounds, it might actually be a blessing in disguise. Andersson is pretty good at face-offs, but brings almost nothing else to the table on a consistent basis. I'm looking forward to seeing what his replacement does with this opportunity (and with so many young options it's anyone's guess on who that will be). I'm certainly not happy that Andersson is hurt. But sometimes it takes an injury to open the door for someone that will fight for and keep a spot permanently. Hopefully this will just strengthen us overall. -
Trade Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, Jarnkrok + cond 3rd/2nd
TheDetroitRedWings replied to gcom007's topic in General
I'm a little late to the thread. But I like this move. Sure I woulda much rather had Vanek. But in reality with Hank out for the season, Weiss still not healthy, and Datsyuk hurt again, we don't need another winger right now. Legwand will be a perfect 1st line center for us until we get healthier. It's a hell of a lot better than having Andersson center the 1st line, that's for sure. -

Nicklas Lidstrom:Greatest Red Wing Ever
TheDetroitRedWings replied to Son of a Wing's topic in General
Couldn't disagree more. Especially since comparing a center to a defenseman isn't so easy to do. But IMO Yzerman was definitely the greatest Red Wing of all time. -
To be honest I didn't really want Macdonald all that much...But for a couple picks it prolly woulda been a smart move. Please Kenny if anything please get us a d-man...

How funny...back to where he was once an elite high level goaltender. With those days being long gone, I expect Lou will get lit up on a regular basis in Florida.

Trade deadline fast approaching - who should we target?

Haven't seen that movie in so long lol "Sure I've heard of grits, I've just never actually seen a grit before." -
Trade deadline fast approaching - who should we target?
TheDetroitRedWings replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
Looks like the Sens might be looking to unload Jason Spezza. Not that I think there's any chance we'd get him. But he would look so nice with Datsyuk or Zetterberg (or both). Most likely Ottawa's asking price will be staggering. And Spezza has a huge contract, so im sure we don't even have interest. But one can always dream. -
I would LOVE to have Edler. But not so much Kesler... Same goes for Buffalo. I would love to have Ehrhoff, but not so much Stewart. So hopefully we won't go for any package deals with either of these teams. We desperately need another top 2 d-man.

Evidently the Avs might be shopping Paul Stastny. I do think he'd be a really good fit here. But his contract ends after this year, and Kenny keeps saying he'll only trade for players that have a contract going past next year. So I'm def not getting my hopes up on this one. -
Marty St. Louis wants out because The Captain hurt his feelings
TheDetroitRedWings replied to unsaddleddonald's topic in General
I definitely agree, but Marty has a NTC (no-trade-clause) and apparently will only accept a deal to the New York Rangers (his family lives in NY). -
Ryan Miller, Steve Ott traded to St. Louis Blues
TheDetroitRedWings replied to Namingway's topic in General
Hard to say exactly, but it is definitely an upgrade. -

The Blues definitely got the better end of this deal. They just got the Sabres captain and their franchise goalie. Looks like we may have left the West right at the perfect time. lol -

Indeed, Kesler was definitely "that guy." Growing up he basically hated the Wings. -

IMO as long as we don't lose Nyquist or Tatar I'm fine with it. Although I would MUCH rather have Vanek than Kesler. Kesler is better defensively, but Vanek is and always was a goal scoring machine. We already have plenty of 2-way forwards. Adding a 30-40 goal scorer would be great for this team. I want a top 2 defenseman more than anything. But if we can't get one, Vanek would be a nice consolation. Yeah, even NHL14 would laugh at that trade....Never gonna happen. -
gdt 2/27 GDT : Red Wings 6 at Senators 1, Franzen w/Hat Trick
TheDetroitRedWings replied to dat's sick's topic in General
Neil better get a suspension for that bullsh*t. He punches a guy in the head without any warning or trying to drop the gloves first? Pretty obvious he was trying to re-injure Franzen, which would be despicable for any type of injury, but a head injury? IMO that certainly should warrant a suspension of some sort. -

Looks like the Griffins need Sproul more than ever now. Marchenko out for the year... http://www.mlive.com/griffins/index.ssf/2014/02/defenseman_alexey_marchenko_ou.html -

Yeah, that seriously better not be the case. -

TheDetroitRedWings replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
Apparently, the Steve Ott rumors are starting to ramp up again. I actually think he'd be a nice addition, considering what we lack and what he brings to the table. But IMO if Kenny is gonna make a move it should really be a d-man. I know we lost Hank for the rest of the reg season. But with all the promising young guys we have, along with a healthy Weiss and a healthy Franzen, defense needs to be the number 1 focus (although I still highly doubt we'll be making any moves before the deadline). -
Glad there's hope he can return in time for the playoffs. IF we make the playoffs of course. Hopefully a healthy Weiss can help get things going.

I really don't think we're gonna be making any moves. But if we do, it better be a defenseman. It's pretty obvious that's our biggest overall weakness by far.
