It was plenty good today. 10-15 knot steady winds on the lake. Of course, one always desires more wind, shy of a hurricane. But we made out just fine, flying a 150% Genoa. Good day, in all.

By all accounts, he was a real good fella.

Lappy was the kind of guy that every team hated to play against, every teams fans hated him, and everyone wanted him on their team. Guys like him are becoming more and more scarce in the league these days. I hope he has a quality life after hockey. It's tough seeing a guy who played like him have to retire after two years in the sick ward. Good luck to you, Lappy.

Twenty Flight Rock- Eddie Cochran

What on Earth could you possibly have against Budd Lynch? The guy has been a Wing for 63 years, is in the Hall of Fame, and loves hockey more than probably everyone on this board, combined. The guy is an absolute legend, and familiar voice to those who have been Wings fans for years. Besides, he's just the PA announcer, it's not like Erich Freiny is going to make any difference. But don't worry, at 94, he'll probably be gone before a new stadium is built anyway.

A player that I would have loved to see hoist a cup is Reed Larson. He was a rock solid player every night, on some God awful Red Wings teams. Not comparing him at all to Lidstrom, but he was every bit as important to the team then, as Nick has been for the past 15+ years. The defense was based around his play, the offense started with his ability to move the puck, and his wicked slapper was the key weapon of their powerplay. And he was never scared to drop the gloves and go with anyone that tried to take liberties with one of his teammates. IMHO, he doesn't get the recognition that he deserves because he played during such a horrible period of Red Wings Hockey. But he sure drank his fair share of them on the air.
