Am I right in thinking that the only way that Pronger's contract helps Phoenix reach the floor is if he 1) plays or 2) retires?If they pay him while on LTIR all they do is waste money as he won't impact the cap and will be paid.

Surely this is with a view to retirement? Arizona need to reach the cap floor and if Pronger retires the salary counts on cap but they will not need to pay him. I saw this, Cheli has already said that he won't be a full time coach, but will work with the D like he did in GR. Unless something has changed dramatically I expect this to still be the case. Also Granato ran the D and PK, so Cheli would run the Forwards and PP?

When GR needed a new assistant coach last off-season, I understand that Cheli was approached and said he couldn't commit to the rigours of coaching full-time not sure if anything has changed for him this coming year.

I've been thinking about this too, was listening to MvsW the other week and they said Ovi was 9th in scoring since 1992 (NHL debut in 2005), fair to say he doesn't reach Gretzky but he might reach Bossy and Hull. Even if he doesn't, in an era where scoring is down, goalie pads are bigger etc he will surely go down as one of the greatest scorers the game has ever seen.

A lot of hockey fans rip on this trophy, but I don't get it. Look at Dats, he's won it 4 times coupled with some of the best play the league has seen. I love physical play/agitators as much as any one but they have their place and so do Lady Byng candidates.
