    4/7 GDT : Blues 1 at Red Wings 0

We really aren't playing bad. Just can't score. Both teams are plying really defensive.

    Dan Dekeyser Watch

I don't think he will overtake Kronwall just yet. The big thing with DD is he doesn't score. A number one, like Lids or Kroner, needs to be able to put up points. Most of the number one guys these days are only good offensively. Lids was so great because he was elite at both Defense and Offense. But at the same time, I'll take a guy who is a elite shutdown guy. I think DD is gonna be real good.

    Nyquist thoughts

That would imply Holland and Babcock know what they are doing, but thats impossible.... or is it?

Lol, Abbs has been with Datsyuk and Franzen for a few months now.

NHL.com names babs "top NHL coach"

I laughed when I saw this because of all the people whining and complaining about him being a bad coach here and on Hfboards (which is worse then here). People take him for grated here.

    time to trade filppula?

People undervalue our players way too much. I agree with op. I think Holland did what was best for the long-run of this team. We have good prospects moving through the system that will be good NHL players. Why give them up for a rental when we can sign free agents in the summer for nothing? Most importantly, this team is still in the playoff race and could end up as high as the 4th seed. And that is completely realistic. As much as people complain, whine, and cry about Holland and Babcock, this team is competitive and as good as virtually every team in the conference, besides the Hawks (who are better then everybody). Go wings.

An interesting point about our apparent deadline strategy

Geeze dude, pull it together. We are in the playoff race right now with a team who has been severely injured this year. This whining is getting out of control. That makes NO sense. How can you guarantee this? We have been in the top 8 of the western conference for a majority of the season. What makes you so sure we are just going to bomb our way out of the playoffs? It seems more like you are being a baby about not making a trade. I'm all for a trade if it makes the team better. But I get the feeling there are not a lot of those out there, especially this year. We will more likely then not make the playoffs.

    Trade Ian White

Colo looked really good tonight. I don't think it would be smart trading away all three of those guys. I could see getting rid of White though.

    Lindy Ruff an option?

haha these comments always make me laugh. You state, so confidently, that Mike Babcock is an idiot when it comes to coaching, and you, Flipper51, are more knowledgeable in roster decisions and lines.. Today was a bad game, but that happens. Babcock is a big reason this team is doing as well as it has this season.

Wings Make Offer to Danny D!

Yeah, but Edmonton is bad the Wings are good, and he will get a chance to play with some great players while being a building block for our future defense. I really don't think he will sign with Edmonton.

Wings Make Offer to Danny D!

He will step into the wings lineup if he signs. That's just the reality of the wings situation this year. We need young Defenseman, and are willing to take a low risk, high reward chance on this guy. Babcock has talked to him, Holland has talked to him, and they need a big Dmen who can play. This guy fits the mold, he has played college hockey, and will, at the very least, have the opportunity to play on this team this year. He will have to earn more ice time, but the opportunity is on the table. So its play in the NHL on a good team, or play in the NHL on a bad team. I think he choses option A.

Wings Make Offer to Danny D!

It sounds like this guy will be inserted into the lineup immediately... Likely pushing White back out of the top 6.

    Perry Re-signs w/ Ducks

    What is an overpayment anymore?
  16. To be fair, he has been a healthy player. He has hit a streak of bad luck with three unrelated industry. Now if he is injured for the next two years, then you can call him chronically injured.

Brunner downgraded to the third line!?

He set up a nice goal on the third line today. He probably won't stay there, but playing against lesser competition might be better for him.

    Quincey out tonight vs. Nucks

Quincey is a better player. He is a much better skater and puck handler. Huskins is a legit plug, but thats about it.

Babs: " ....the players decide who plays, not me...."

This is starting to turn into Hfboads with the Babcock hate.. its ridiculous.

Nyquist called up, Tatar sent down

So it appears Holland feels the same way as a lot of you guys. It looks like he will probably be playing in the top 6. I think he will help, and having Filpula back will be huge as well. As for sending down Tatar... so what? He played good up here when given the chance. He proved that he is a solid offensive guy. But the way the roster works, they have to send him down. It makes complete sense when you think about it. Why would they cut an extra forward to make room for a guy who can be retained in GR when new injuries are bound to happen? Just because they sent down Tatar? Seriously? haha, talk about an overreaction.

    wings arent winning the cup

You forgot other teams also have less injuries. And I completely disagree that our boys don't have the desire to win. IMO, the reason we have been winning is because the teams work ethic and desire. The parity in the NHL is ridiculous. I kind of look at it like this: There are 3 tiers of teams. The top tier is small, including Chicago, Anaheim, Vancouver, Boston, Pittsburgh maybe. THen you have tier 2 which includes most other teams in the playoff chase, including the Red Wings. The final tier has the teams like Edmonton, Columbus, NYI, etc. The point is, do you think the Wings could beat Chicago or Anaheim in a 7 game series? IMO, yes, because the teams in tier 1 aren't all that different from the teams in tier 2. Anaheim wasn't even that good last year and this year they are tearing it up. When you look at the big picture, teams really aren't that far apart when it comes to talent, especially in the top 2 tiers. Carolina will probably be a top seed in the East this year. Do you think the Wings could beat them in a 7 game series? I watch them play sometimes and they aren't all that impressive. LA was a tier 2 team last year and managed to win the cup. I am not convinced that this team can't win the cup when healthy. I think they have the ability to do it, and I think one more piece would push us closer to the top of tier 2. I also realize that every other team in Tier 1 and Tier 2 have the same chance and ability to win it as well. I just think people are panicking because we aren't the same dominant team we have been in the past. But the league has been changing dramatically, even since 2009 and 2010. Teams are a lot close together in terms of talent and depth. You have to get hot at the right time, get good luck with injuries, and anything can happen.

    2013 Free Agency Thread

No, you don't get it. Every player on the wings is worth nothing more than a bag of pucks.

    Datsyuk - Cleary - Abdelkader

I don't like this line either, but we are winning games. I think Babcock wants defense to win games until we get Filpula, Samuelson, and Helm back. Offensively, it isn't great, but they don't give up goals either.

To be fair, it is impossible to be perfect (unless its Lidstrom of course).
