ECSF - (6) New York Rangers vs. (4) Boston Bruins

Should be a good series. Gotta love the Original 6 matchups. -
This.Doesn't make any sense to me. It's not like he's a goon that can't skate for his life. He can skate a regular shift and he's built for the playoffs. It shocks me that he isn't playing.

Abdelkader suspended 2 games for hit on Lydman
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to Dirty Dangle's topic in General
Was there even a call initially made on the ice? If not, now we're just gonna go back and start giving penalties? Also, it is becoming painfully clear that if guys stay down on the ice after being hit, the penalties and/or suspensions are more hefty. Anyone else out there view this as seriously problematic? What the hell is going on? The suspension videos released by the league even state that they take into account whether the player was supposedly injured or not. Pathetic. -
Ottawa - Montreal 5 on 5 fight

Some serious bad blood in this game. The entire series has been pretty physical. Game 4 is Tuesday. -
ECQF - (5) Maple Leafs vs. (4) Bruins

Boston just plain out-hustled Toronto for most of the game. The Leafs simply didn't have an answer for Bergeron and Krejci. Boston did an effective job of shutting down Kessel. Pretty physical game. Good tempo. Looking forward to game 2. -

I don't know a lot about this guy, but I'm starting to hear more about him, and I like what I'm hearing. Kid is huge and a scary fighter. From the looks of it, he's got the ability to put up some offense, too.

Montreal isn't quite so easy to push around this year. Sure, they've got some small finesse players like David Desharnais (5'7"), Brendan Gallagher (5'9"), Brian Gionta (5'7"), and Gabriel Dumont (5'9"). However, they've got sandpaper in their bottom 6 with Brandon Prust, Travis Moen, and Ryan White. They're not pushovers.

Never knew Stralman to be that type of player.

If Filppula is really looking for around $5 mil, he can walk. 14 points in 32 games? See ya. Cleary has had a solid career since coming here after the lockout, but he is no longer effective. 12 points in 39 games. We need to start getting younger. Cleary needs to go. Bertuzzi and Samuelsson need to go. Both are extremely injury-prone. We need to get younger.

This sucks. His injury must be somewhat serious, considering he's been out basically all year. I think we've underestimated the stability he provides for the bottom 6 and the penalty kill.
-
We'll need to beef up a bit, considering we'll be playing the likes of Boston, Toronto, and Philly more often. If we head into next year with virtually the same roster as this year, we're gonna get knocked around. We need a legitimate power forward to round out the top 6 and we need a snarly defensemen that clears the crease.

3-1 win over Nashville. Gaborik made an immediate impact with a goal and an assist. Dubinsky with two assists. -
Official NHL Trade Deadline thread

A lot of players making an immediate impact for their new teams. -Jagr scored in his first game with Boston. -Clowe scored twice in his first game with NYR. -Gaborik scored in his first game with Columbus. -Rosehill scored in his first game with Philly. -
A change of scenery can work wonders sometimes. However, it was only one game.
-
We've got talent rotting in the minors while over-the-hill players like Cleary can't skate a shift without falling on his ass.

Good thing they didn't play physical or start any fights to prove to the fans that they give a flying f***. Chicago came into our building, s*** in our Wheaties, force fed it to us, and we just took it.

Unbelievable that this team shows up against legitimate foes, but they seem to struggle against everyone else. Oh, well. Hopefully this is the start of a more consistent Detroit team. Howard looked really average tonight. Also, I really think we should re-sign Drew Miller this summer. He's proven himself to be a reliable 4th liner. He kills penalties, he's fairly physical, and he can chip in offensively. Is there a full video of Anaheim's bitchfest at the end of the game? I caught what seemed to be the end of it. Was it as pathetic as I'm hearing? -
