If you could reset the career of one Wings player...
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to dirtydangles's topic in General
Toronto had an extremely well-rounded team that year. Sundin and Mogilny were dangerous offensively. Tucker was a pain in the ass and put up good offensive numbers.Kaberle and McCabe were great on the blueline. Domi, Roberts, Belak, and Corson made them extremely unpleasant to play against. Would've been a Classic Stanley Cup Final, indeed. -
He was a legitimate defenseman during his tenure with Ottawa. Signed a huge contract with the Rangers prior to the '08/'09 season. His offensive production was minimal after that. On top of that, he wasn't the most sound defensively. A big NO to Wade Redden.

Bouwmeester opinions? Potential trades? *merged*
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to jroc86's topic in General
Ken doesn't wanna part with any of his future Hall of Famers to get him, so I don't even see Bouwmeester as a possibility anymore. Sign Vandermeer and start the season, already. -
He's got quite the bad reputation for flopping. Hopefully he knocks that off. He's a hard-hitting, hard-working player that is tough as nails. He doesn't need to be pulling those antics.

Brad Marchand was pretty bad in the playoffs last year. Dove on several occasions. Steve Bernier has done his fair share of flops in his career, too. Hopefully they really start cracking down on this kind of stuff. Making the NHL look like soccer.

Brown is one of the worst. Go to youtube and type in "Dustin Brown dive". Prepare to change your opinion on him. He's a joke. Flopped all over the place in the playoffs last year.

This thread needs more Jim Vandermeer. -
Haven't really been able to stay up-to-date with this situation. What is it looking like? Will there really be another lockout?
-
This is all very true.

Kesler Crosby Sedin sisters Brown Joe Thornton Setoguchi Pavelski I'm sure I'm missing a few.

RUMOR: Wings have made an offer to Carlo Colaiacovo
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to chances14's topic in General
I'd rather we get Vandermeer on board for a one year deal at $1 mil. Guy knows his role and plays it well. He's older than Colaiacovo and won't put up the offensive numbers, but he's much more sound defensively. Vandermeer can also eat up some PK time. That being said, I guess I wouldn't be too upset if we got Colaiacovo here. He can put up some offensive numbers and he is relatively physical. However, he's an injury risk. -
The person below me game...

Not a ton, no. The person below me is really starting to believe we're gonna see another lockout. -

He's come across some cash since he left, but I don't feel like he's playing all that much better than he did in Detroit. Had a good year in Chicago, and then barely managed 30 points last year. -
I say Gary Thorne

Should Kronwall have to answer the bell for his hits?
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to Red Wings Addict's topic in General
I guess he shouldn't have to, but he shouldn't back away from the rough stuff. When you absolutely clock the opposing team's star players, clean hit or not, guys are gonna come after you. Don't just stand there as they all beat on you. He shouldn't be afraid to fight. If the opposition even touched Yzerman in the '80s, Probert, Kocur, and Gallant beat 'em into the ice. If the opposition even touched Gretzky in the '80s, Semenko and McSorley beat 'em into the ice. Didn't matter whether the hits were clean or not. Eventually, players were forced to answer the bell. I think it is annoying that a mugging ensues after every clean hard hit, though. Take a hit and play the game. In essence, what that kind of stuff does is it deters clean, hard hitting. -

I have an unusually big hockey card collection. The person below me likes Ron Paul. -

Name former/current Wings that I hate(d) without pulling any punches? Ok. In no particular order: 1. Jason Woolley- Was never a fan. 2. Jason Williams- Soft, had some tools but never became anything relevant. Never liked him. 3. Robert Lang- Lazy defensively. Didn't play with a lot of heart, imo. Was happy when he left. 4. Cory Emmerton- Can't stand him. Soft as butter. Doesn't really do a lot offensively. Doesn't sacrifice the body to block shots. Trade him away, please. 5. Jiri Hudler- So happy he's gone. He had his moments. Played decent in 2008 when we won. Didn't mind him all that much then. Never liked him after he bolted. Soft as hell and irrelevant far too often. 6. Ville Leino- Never fit in with Detroit. Happy we got rid of him. Too one-dimensional. 7. Ray Whitney- Just a bad fit with Detroit. 8. Uwe Kruup- Obviously. 9. Tomas Kopecky- Wow, so glad he's gone. Always got his ass kicked when he fought. Showed some offensive potential, but hasn't turned into anyone notable since leaving. 10. Jakub Kindl- He's got some potential, but he's just one that I'll never like. Don't like him. 11. Johan Franzen- Had an incredible postseason in 2008. He's been a major floater the last few years. He rarely plays with any kind of physicality, when he clearly has the tools to play that way. Trade him for a legit power forward that has a pair of balls and commitment to showing up every game and giving 110%. Flame away. -
His hit on Simon Gagne in the playoffs the other year was badass.
-
Good pickup for Nashville. Was hoping Detroit would get him, especially at that price.

signed Red Wings Sign Jordin Tootoo to 3-yr deal, $1.9M/yr
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to Tim.D's topic in General
Tootoo will be a regular on our 4th line. He isn't gonna be getting almost $2 mil/year to play 40 games. -
speculation Kovalev returning to NHL?
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to Wingsfan72's topic in General
Pass on Kovalev. We already have enough floaters on the roster. -
Flyers, Simmonds Agree to Six-Year Contract Extension.
Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to cusimano_brothers's topic in General
Kenny's a dumbass for not getting him. -
It has become painfully obvious that he just hates players that fight. He has, on several occasions, ignored the fact that Tootoo outscored most of our bottom 6 players last year. He thinks fighting is yucky, that is all.

Bring Back The Bruise Bros replied to cusimano_brothers's topic in General
Yeah, he will be needed this season, considering the division the Flyers play in. He's pretty physical and a good fighter. The entire Atlantic Division got significantly tougher to play against over the summer.
