    Injury Updates

I didn't hear that, but not surprised at all. I don't expect Z (obviously), or Pasha or Helm back this season, or for playoffs if we make them. Without more consistent efforts from the guys we have, it's not good at all.

    Injury Updates

Kronner used to break all the time, too, and he grew out of it. Helm might, unfortunately from some perspectives, have a nice looooong off-season, the way things are going without scoring and with all the brain farts and people scoring goals for the other team, around here.

3/6 GDT: Avs 3 at Red Wings 2 (OT) Sorry Nick.

Count me in, BoS. I cried over the GDT. Beautiful job, Mikey... I am sure the ceremony will be awesome, and beyond well-deserved. I adored Nick as did we all, and miss him every single game. I do hope we don't suffer the dreaded pre-game ceremony curse and consequently suck tonight. I am hoping the guys will be anxious to not poop on Nick's special night, and win this one for the Perfect Human.

Who will have a better career as a Red Wing: Weiss or Legwand?

I forget Weiss was ever a Wing. Might as well not be... Legwand, I reserve judgment on. I didn't like him as a Pred. But I tend to like (most) players better when they wear a winged wheel. If I can love Tootoo, I can probably get used to Legwand for however long he's around.

3/4 GDT: Red Wings at Devils

http://www.sbnation.com/lookit/2014/3/5/5473462/red-wings-daniel-alfredsson-teeth-video I guess I missed this, since I had the sound really low due to homer NJ announcers getting on my nerves. Poor Alfie!

    The person below me game...

that is a true statement. I am so very tired here today. Those people who argue with you about nuts are nuts. The person below me wants to go somewhere warm now.

    Very Chris Very, Very Osgood...very

Pretty much all hockey players have the same lines. "We just have to play our game..." Ozzie was far more eloquent and funny as a player because there was no pressure to be coherent in interviews. Now he's on the hot seat to make cogent observations and be informative. Much harder than it looks, no doubt. Ozzie will be OK. But he will never, ever be another Mickey Redmond. Nor will anyone else, to be fair.

Pat LaFontaine Resigns as Pres of Hockey Op. for Buffalo

This doesn't really surprise me, if Miller and Ott were traded without Lala being on board with that decision. Once again, Buffalo loses all they really had: a stellar goalie who won games for them they shouldn't have been in at all. Very sad for the franchise and players. Let's go, Buffalo.

2/26 GDT - Red Wings 2 at Canadiens 1 (OT)

Great GDT!! Glad Datsyuk might play, too. Here's to a good effort and a win. Go, Wings!!

Official 2014 Olympic Hockey Thread (Admin warning #316)

I was just reading that the Swedes will have no celebration at home, gotta get back to NHL hockey and real work. I hope Babs skips the ticker-tape parade in Canada and gets back here... to real work. http://kuklaskorner.com/tmr/comments/nhl-wont-allow-swedish-olympian-players-to-celebrate-in-stockholm?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook

I don't see Babcock in the team photo. Is that him on the far right, almost cut off?

Team Sweden was DOA without Zetterberg. Hope the same isn't true of the Wings now. Happy for Babs and Stevie Y, though.

    Zetterberg out with herniated disc

If Datsyuk doesn't come back and play in a stellar fashion, we might be in serious trouble here. Get well soon, Z. This sucks pucks.
  14. puckloo39

    Zetterberg out with herniated disc

I would say yes, he gets a medal. The back up goalie got one for the Czechs in 1998, and never even sniffed the ice for one second during the entire tournament. I think if you're on the team, you get a medal. http://kuklaskorner.com/tmr/comments/st.-james-red-wings-datsyuk-delays-return-to-detroit?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook per Malik, Dats is taking a few days to visit folks in Russia -- probably his daughter who lives with her mom in Ekaterinaburg.

Call ups.. Sheahan, Emmerton, Pulkkinen and Almquist

I saw Pulkkinen play last month here (TX Stars v Griffins) and he is quite impressive. My newest favorite Finn. Almquist was penalty magnet, but promptly would make up for it next shift. I love Sheahan, but Emmerton... sorry, not so much.

    Zetterberg out with herniated disc

Well, I am not going to speculate, Z knows what he can do, and what he can't with that back. But this makes me sad for him. He was having a blast. I feel so bad that he's hurt and can't play for his country. Just hope he can recover and come back for us, soon - love the guy and he makes such a huge difference for the Wings. Feel better, Hank.

    Kris Letang Suffers Stroke

Best wishes to Kris, hope for a full recovery and that he can carry on with life and his career. I also hope his team loses miserably, but that's another issue entirely and has nothing to do with him, personally. I hope the medical staff checked our Monster for this sort of thing, when he had to come out of the crease during the last game, with dizziness. He's so tall, and while i am no medical expert, I wonder about heart issues and circulation problems with people who are tall and gangly like he is. I forget the name of the syndrome but one of you more knowledgeable medicos will know what I am thinking of... Get better soon, Kris!!

    Gustav Nyquist Appreciation Thread

Gus Gus is a class act, did his time in GR without a peep, honed his skills and now... he's found his niche with the best team in the NHL. I couldn't be more proud.

2/6 GDT: Red Wings 3 at Panthers 1

We could use a win, boyz... just do this, ok? Seeing Datsyuk's name in the line up rather than still injured brings a tear to mine eye, Rahmani. Go, Wings!!!

    NHL may rethink Sochi

they can make tea with that kettle thing the curlers chase down the ice with brooms.

What's wrong with Pasha? (Mod warning post #57)

I agree, and I am a typical fan. I think. I want Pasha to come back strong for us, and also to dominate in the Sochi games. I want both of those things for him. And I totally agree, we're SO fortunate to have him and Z and Kronner all on the Wings roster.

Gus Gus goes to Sochi, me thinks. Now. Don't give it away on the next shift. Thanks.
