What? No Wings gear?

Read the whole tweet. I'd give anything to have a player like Mac again, who makes the other teams look over their shoulders and worry... even a little... about taking liberties with our guys. Miss you, Mac.

Weber's attack on Z wasn't a hit. Pronger and Neederweiner assaulting Homer wasn't a hit, either, but at least it was noted by the league as unacceptable. Essentially, Abby never intended to target Lydman's head... the hit went wrong, Abby's a dork, and he got punished for it. I think some people are angry because our players seem to get attacked in very dangerous fashions (i.e., Perry kicking Jimmy Howard in the head with a razor sharp skate -- Marlachuk, anyone??) and NOTHING happens. Ho hum.... Some hits are bad, suspendable, deplorable. Attacks which could injure or kill one of our players? OK! I think most decisions on suspensions are subjective and open to (endless) argument... however, I do have trouble understanding the Weber assault on Z, aside from the fact that the NHL wanted an expansion team to move on, not the Wings.

2 Games for Abby, 0 for Weber?...We Deserve Answers
puckloo39 replied to Manny>Ozzie(by a long shot)'s topic in General
Some teams don't seem to have a problem finding someone to step up and drop the mitts (or shoot pucks at other players' heads). Is Shanny going to suspend 2/3s of the rosters in Ottawa and Montreal? -
wee, tiny ice celebration by what's left of the Sens... ROTFL!!!!
-
this may be the most fun we're gonna have this round, ya know?
-
hat trick!! I love Ottawa. There are four guys left on the bench. ROTFL!!!

LOL @ the penalty detail on the box score... the poor updater typed his little fingers to the bone... PIM 114 Montreal, 92 Ottawa

I think it has to do with Howard being "just a Red Wing." All I can say is, if the Wings are not furious and fired up to win by this latest travesty of so-called justice, then perhaps there's a reason they won't move on. They have to respond tomorrow on the ice, appropriately, by out-playing the classless Ducks and beating them, fair and square. This means watching their hits, staying out of the box (legitimately - nothing much they can do about bad calls and non-calls), and giving Jimmy some help --- and some GOALS, for heaven's sake. There really is no option, other than to go home with a whimper and allow this nonsense to happen to them. I think this team is better than that, personally. Go, Wings!

this makes me sad... too bad it's what a lot of us think here.
-
Time to move on and prove them wrong. The only way to right this ship is to beat Anaheim's asses and send them home.

I don't keep track of other serious issues which go unnoticed by the league, but do recall Weber slamming Z's head into the glass, and a giant ugly Duck nearly killing Homer. remember that one? I do think part of this suspension has to do with the fact that it's a Wing who is in the cross-hairs. Done is done. I agree with Pskov that tomorrow is a must-win, if for no other reason than to prove that Abby is a key player, but that this is not going to derail the Wings. I will not be surprised to see Lydman on the ice tomorrow, miraculously recovered. Or maybe (not likely) they will hold him out just to "prove" what a terrible injury was inflicted on him. Ducks are not classy or smart, so either could happen. Wings need to rise above this and play better. And oh, yeah... score some goals?

If I could "like" this about 1,000 times, I would.

I have a headache and sore neck, too. I'm not going to be playing either. BooBoo won't let him play, since the outcome of the decision from the NHL DC depends on pretty much on Lyman being maimed by the hit. Again, coach is not stupid. It's like when someone is trying to get an insurance settlement for "whiplash" or some other less than obvious injury -- you don't go out dancing or to lift weights at the gym while waiting to get your reward.
-
Boudreau is not stupid, if he thinks he can get Abby removed from the line up and influence the outcome of the series, then Lyman will be "unavailable" to play, regardless. Lyman isn't a key loss to the *ucks. I hate to think they would use this as a way to manipulate the system, and hope that Lyman isn't hurt, needless to say -- but the way the game is played now... it's gamesmanship. I have my suspicions.
-
Probably right. It goes without saying that Helm is the bigger loss, and nothing to be done about that. I do believe Anaheim is low-class enough to use this as an excuse to hurt a Red Wing. Hope i am wrong, needless to say.
-
This will not surprise me at all. If I were Babs, I would sit Abby for the series regardless of what the decision is from Shanny. Putting Abby back out there would just give Anaheim a righteous "reason" to take out Jimmy or Pasha... like, "the Wings DESERVED this!" Tell me this couldn't happen with tools like Perry leading the pack?
