I lost my mom and dad when I was in my twenties, one to a long-term debilitating illness/stroke and the other to catastrophic cancer with just one-year survival. after diagnosis. It was a while ago, but one doesn't get over it soon. This will doubtless affect Jiri, so I hope he has a support system. It weirds me out a bit to know that people my age still have living parents - especially when they are not close to them while they are all alive and have the opportunity to be a family. In a way, I was lucky to know my time with them both was limited. I treasured the time I had with them on Earth. T, you know I am thinking of you. I know you're strong and will deal with this situation accordingly. One of my acquaintances once said, "I don't know how you dealt with losing both your parents when you were so young." I don't recall being given a choice, actually. You play the hand you are dealt, if you're smart. You're smart! I know you will be a winner in this game, and will handle it magnificently.

It ain't how you start but how you finish, eh? I always liked Patty Marleau, but the Sharks will fade as they always do. Some small mean part of me will enjoy watching that, since Stuie left us to go home. Loved Stuart here, and wish he had stayed, but I understand his motivations and don't hold that against him at all. Still, I will enjoy seeing our guys leave Marleau in the dust.

Ah, Carlo, we hardly knew ye. But we should have known half our players would come back (albeit briefly) and then head to the infirmary. Positive: they might get this all out of their systems early in this short season and finish strong. OK. I am being positive here. Help me out! -
mostly left, but... right. I mean, yes, I do. the person below me stockpiles toilet paper and other necessities.

At home. DVDs rock. I hate theatres... ugh. go into debt or do without?

No snow, but I live in south central Texas, so... you know. The person below me has more than one pair of sneakers.

nice work for a 'siv' there, Jimmeh.

Sorry about about groin, Sammy... but YEAH!! I love Gus Gus! Can't wait to see him on the ice!

Bert. From his sickbed.

I wouldn't take CBJ too lightly, considering the Wing's performance, since the Blue Jackets beat the Preds in their home opener in a shoot out. Just sayin...

I have been thinking (always a dangerous proposition): when's the last time the Wings came out strong at the beginning of a season? 2001, if I recall. Since then, not so much. They'll be OK. As someone said, it could hardly be any worse than game 1! No predication, just play like you want to be there, and win this one, Wings!

this is also my fear...

not really, we had a pet pigeon when I was a kiddo, really it just stuck around because we fed it, probably. The person below me can hang wallpaper.

soft pretzel. Must have one if I am at a game (rare) because the Wings win when I share the magic pretzel with adjacent fans. It's true. Ask Kristi. debit or credit?

We don't need Bert falling asleep at the drop of a puck. We have the rest of the team for that, apparently. I kid the Red Wings. What that game needed last night was more Bert. Get better soon, big fella.

The Wings play badly and floated [insert your own joke here] because "they have not been playing in a while, they have new faces, they have a new coach, they [insert excuse/reason here]." OK. The other team has the same situation, typically. What is it about the Wings that makes them disappear in statement games like last night's? I am certainly not throwing them under the bus, but it's a logical question: If they are rusty and don't have their game legs, and all the other teams have been under the same restrictions and also haven't played -- how come other teams play well and hand the Wings their jock straps in games like last night's? Ew. Of course they will get better - could hardly be worse - but I just have to wonder in my out-loud voice what, if anything, they were thinking, with that performance.

Columbus has Nashville in OT, with 28 SOG. We'd better do a bit better against them, for sure. Hope you're right!
-
I dub this team the Zombie Wings. They don't know they're dead. Better luck re-animating yourselves next game, Wings!!

Dive. Hitch promised doughnuts.
-
At least that won't take too long, Edi.
-
where are all those goals they were scoring over seas? Shot on goal, never a bad thing, Wings!
-
watching TB and Washington free on Center Ice trial... and hoping they're not kidding, that game 4 is going to show up, Wings and Booos.

Dismal. Mostly I am stuck in neutral, though. Mayans or Incans?

Oh, boy, hockey!!! Beautiful job on the GDT, Mikey... it's a beauty! Wings win... that's all.
