older, I've never socialized with people younger than myself or my age. Babyface Nelson or John Dillinger?

yep, highlights, lowlights, you name it. I have no idea what my actual hair color would look like, but what my hair stylist does is undoubtedly much nicer. The person below me is very sleepy.

Raise your hand if you're surprised that Vladimir Putin had "agreed" to run for President of Russia in 2012. He's never NOT been president there, even if he did allow someone else to hold the title for a bit. Fascinating man... in a scary, creepy sort of way.

Mike Modano most important American player of all time, per Hockey News. I am glad the Stars extended him the one day honorary contract for $999,999.00 in honor of his number, 9. But what they should have done was let him stay a Star. I love Mo and was glad he was a Wing even briefly but couldn't figure out their reasoning letting the undisputed face of their franchise walk last season. Anyway, happy retirement, Mo. Hope to see you bar-tending at Hully and Mo's sometime.

I thought it was a pile of straw... happy Halloween, a little early? -
Hope he does the one-day contract and 'retires a Dallas Star.' He was the face of the franchise. They sure haven't done much since they didn't re-hire him, have they? I was at the game where he scored his 500th goal (vs. Flyers) in 2007. I thought the roof was going to blow off the Hanger... confetti and streamers fell from the ceiling, etc. It was bedlam. I was also at the game where they recognized Mo in Dallas The ovation speaks for itself, even with him in a Wings uniform. The fans never wanted to see him go. Enjoy, Mike, you earned it.

Mo's a great guy and had a wonderful career. I am sorry his time with the Wings wasn't more productive and satisfying for him, but I know he had a blast being in Detroit, regardless. Best wishes to him and I hope he enjoys whatever pursuits he chooses to follow now.

Hooray, GDT!! Thanks, Mike!! I wish TWC would air NHL Network here. -
that's OK, half the team and many of us will, as well. Hope his family is holding up, I feel so bad for them.
-
He's paid his dues and hopefully on the right track. What a life he's had, and good for him for saving his team mate. I also echo the question -- no medical staff? but good on Mike for being there at the right time and knowing what to do.

Itty bitty goalie babies, congrats to Jimmy and his wife. I hope Ozzie's little Max and the new little Howard (James IV?) become great friends. How cute would that be -- Wings prospects some day? agreed!! I must have said out loud several times that Mule should have stayed home and changed diapers.

I have only watched online for the past three years, same reason as you...$$$. They're teeny-tiny on my screen, but I can see them! I am at work and don't have the bookmarks here but will post them or PM them to you later, OK? There are some good options out there.

Link Dallas Stars to wear Skrastins #37 decal on their helmets this season, to honor their fallen team mate. I do hope the Wings do something similar for Brad, Rusty and Stefan.
-
any of these on Versus? Doubt it. Will go scrounging for a stream, here.

Smith's is great! I love Halak for his gesture toward Demitra, too. Good man.

re-do, mostly by necessity -- but also sometimes, new isn't all that good nowadays. Saginaw or Macinaw?
-
I think it would be nice to paint a small tribute to them on the ice at the Joe... if there is room out there, what with the Amway logo, etc. Decal on the helmets would be nice, as well...

yep, glasses since I was 8, contacts since I was a teenager and could scrape up enough baby-sitting money to afford them... and ever since. I never learned to swim as a kid, because the instructor said to paddle to the other side of the pool. I couldn't see that far, so I didn't ever learn properly. The person below me has won a talent competition.

Oh, you made me think of my mom just now. She used to say, "Inaminate objects are defying me today!" She died in 1980... before the advent of all this techno-gizmo crap. I talk to appliances and certainly to my car. I tell the A/C, washer-dryer, and hot water heater to keep going, 'cause I can't afford new ones. I am fluent in ancient Honda, as well. trampoline or pogo stick?

I am so sorry you're not going, Dawn... that sucks. I was planning to live vicariously through you. I hope you change your mind and boogie up there Friday night to see whoever you can Saturday morning.

I don't like Toews (understatement) but he didn't mean to do that. Accident. Hope the kiddo is OK.

no, but I might have, had I thought of it. I like Suh (Nebraska fan!) The person below me thinks it's funny that the series, "All American Handyman" is judged by two Canadians (Scott McGillivray and Mike Holmes)

I expect you may be right, 13GoWings40. And I am not sure it isn't for the best. I also am sorry for the fans there. Thousands attend a Mass memorial in Prague Square for the Czech players killed in the crash. This site is usually where the fans are celebrating their team's victories: The [Czech Hockey] federation announced that the players' national team jersey numbers — 4 (Rachunek), 15 (Marek) and 63 (Vasicek) — will be retired.
