really... Bert needs to beat somebody here, soon. It seems to get them going, somehow.

Wings won't let us down... they will win this for their home town fans. Ouch, haul down the linesman, eh?
-
Desperate times call for desperate measures! I think they will win for your dad. * I want a picture of you in your wingnut chapeau, please?

I'm from Kentucky. LOL~ I am, really, and never met a relative of mine who appealed all that much to me. You guys look cute together. I read somewhere that a lot of people end up looking alike after they've been together for a while. You two just got a head start on the inevitable!

If the win count on this site stops at 4, it won't be Jimmy Howard's fault. That is all.

WCSF Game 1 GDT: Red Wings 1 at Sharks 2 (OT)
puckloo39 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Great job on the GDT, HT! As usual... I can't wait for this game. Let's go, Red Wings! is it tomorrow yet? -
I am a long-time Modano fan and am not at all surprised to see how he's handling a season of disappointments which would have embittered a lesser player and lesser person. He's handling everything perfectly. I would have expected no less from him. Mike deserves a place on this team and a Cup with Detroit. I hope he gets it.

I wonder if Dallas has figured out they made some mistakes, amongst them giving us Mike Modano, and firing Dave Tippett, who promptly resurrected the Gretzky-tainted Coyotes. Two years with Dave behind the bench = two years in the playoffs. Dallas, not in the hunt. huh. Anyway, best of luck to the Yoties, where-ever they land next season. While I personally don't think hockey belongs in the desert, I think their fans were loyal, even if there wasn't a huge base there. I feel bad for them if they lose their team. I echo the dislike of Doan's tactics, at times. Yes, I did feel bad for him when he cried at the end of it all -- I love a player with heart and passion for the game. Like him or not, he's got that. Jovo, I am majorly disappointed in him. He was one of my favorite Canucks... now, as someone else said, he seems to be a bitter old man. Other than that, I loved watching some of the younger Yoties and the Cleary-esque story of Schlemko. Hell, I just love hockey, so I can empathize with the fans in Glendale. As Edi said, even if they leave -- follow their play and be proud. Look where I live. Half the population here thinks Red Wing makes work boots, and has no idea that decal on my car stands for the best hockey club in the world. Doesn't stop me from being a devoted fan, just because they are not where I can see them every game.

need to add a thought bubble over Bryz's head: "I wish I was a Red Wing, damn..."

linky Interesting... can't stand the guy, personally. And I thought firing Dave Tippett was insane, but Phoenix has certainly responded to him.

I like everything about your predictions. Go, Wings!!

hard to say. I look like the before pictures, despite the years at the gym. I assume there's a bit of photoshopping going on there in the after pics. Speaking of photoshop, the Round One photoshop thread in general forum is a riot.

Preds fans chant that too, every time they score on us. And they jeer Howard when they are behind... LOL~ Ignorant, rather than arrogant (Chicago). If the Wings want to meet my expectations (as if that matters) they will knock Chicago out of the playoffs and then show up first round the way they did April 2, and teach Nashville a lesson. Nashville is totally beatable, but only if the Wings decide to play. Otherwise, they are young and hungry and will bury the Wings before you can say "Barry Trotz has no neck -- red, or otherwise." This situation is 100% on the Wings roster - not just the goalies - to show up and play their best. Or not. I honestly don't know what to expect today, after Friday's game and their inability to score. We shall see.

I actually agree with everything you said. The Wings I expect have shown up maybe three times this year, including last Saturday in Nashville. I am grateful, since I was there and it was the first in-person game I've been to in 3.5 years... But, yes. I don't disagree with anything you said. I just hate to see it in print -- and know it's probably true. As Edi said, if a different team shows up and they rock the playoffs (as I know they could, if they just would?), I will happily eat crow. Go, Wings! Please!

I've been known to have either, for breakfast or dinner. Cereal, mostly. pay a fortune for Wings tickets/Center Ice or watch them for free online?

I stood by a dad and his 12 year old son at the glass during warm-ups last weekend in Nashville. It was pretty clear they were not wealthy, and they told me that it was the boy's first game in person, his birthday. He was star-struck and almost mute, staring at his heroes. I thought of them last night, and remembered watching the Wings go down three goals in Nashville -- but then rallying and playing like champions, winning the game in OT. Not that it should have gotten that far, but they came back and played like they know how. I am disappointed in them not playing with any intent to win in front of their last home crowd this season. The Wings admitted to the press that their heads were not in the game last night. That ought to make them feel shame. Hope last night was just mailing it in since I know they can play better... but I agree with H-Mom. It's not right to not show up every game. If I turned in a performance like that at my job, I would be on the street. Of course, I don't have a million dollar contract which says I don't have to perform to expectations, either. Sunday's game is on NBC. It's in the arena of the defending champs who made the Wings look like chumps in their last home game in front of their fans. No one wants the Wings to win, so I expect a loss there, if they don't show up with their heads on straight. This team can take any contender in round one. If they want to...

love your avatar... Too bad this game is on BlackHawks Rule TV (Versus). Otherwise it would be on Center Ice and be free, and possibly the Detroit feed. Please beat these morons, Wings. Please?
-
The game would be tied if posts were a little slimmer. The Wings will not be SHUT OUT. Believe! Shut out, shut out, shut out!!!
-
Welcome to LGW! Glad to have you, and hope you enjoy the game. Wings will win for you. I suggest that you get a soft pretzel at some point. It's my magic necessity for a win. Don't laugh! I got one Saturday in Nashville when the Wings were down 0-3... and look what happened! Have a blast! Go, Wings!! Thanks for the GDT, HT! Awesome, as usual.

I was at the game on Saturday. Bert was magnificent. I want to see more of the Wings sticking up for each other. He's the man.
-
Good man. You will be missed, Bill.
-
Happy birthday to one of the all time greats, Gordie Howe. A remarkable man!! Many happy returns, Mr. Hockey!!
-
Amazing GDT, HT. Thank you so much! The only thing I didn't like is our injury list. Again. Wings need to show up and make Jimmy feel like it's worth dressing for this game. Here's hoping they can trounce the Loafs. Go, Wings!!
-
It's a boy! Awww.. congrats, Mr. and Mrs. Osgood!! Ozzie Bo! edit: Isn't Homer's son named Max, too?

Not a huge fan of either... peppermint, I reckon. Macaroni salad or potato salad?
