I read a similar article saying some of the things you were referring to, Chris. I have noticed that when there is a pre-game ceremony, the Wings often struggle and sometimes lose. Hard to say how or if they lose their focus or whatever, but the Curse of the Pre-Game Ceremony"? Not a good excuse. If anything, the Wings should have been MORE mentally prepared in Chicago -- and as it was, it was more like mentally impaired. The game is mental sometimes... they were in a coma at the wrong time. That's all. I expect the real team to show up on Sunday, when it matters more.. at least to Chris Osgood.

Their "goal song" alone puts them in a category of idiocy that ranks highest in the NHL, to me. I picture them skipping around the arena like a bunch of goofy kids. Der-de-der-der-de-der.... The song is about some skank who likes shoes, for heaven's sake. Anyway, simple solution to that issue. Wings could f'ing show up and not let them ever play that moronic anthem again. I can turn the sound off - and I do! As for the way the treated Chelios, it was the act of a fan base who haven't watched hockey for many years, and don't know how to behave. It was classless and stupid to boo a guy who still bleeds for that city, even if he did have more great years in Detroit than in his native Chicago. Glad I don't live there. Hope they lose miserably in the playoffs.

Just got an email from my cousin in Indiana entitled: Uncle Henry. My heart nearly stopped -- my uncle is over 100 years old. I thought it was my cousin telling me he'd passed away, but it was to let me know his new address and phone in Illinois. I guess his daughter decided to move him? Odd, since he's lived in Evansville, IN for the past 75 years, I always assumed he would live out the rest of his life there. Anyway, Henry's OK. Obviously he cannot live forever (or maybe he can) but he is all that is left of my direct family, my mother's brother. And I love him. Merry Christmas, Uncle Henry! edit: I found out his finances are running low (he's 100, so... yeah) so they are moving him to Illinois near his granddaughter who has five grown kids -- lots of love in his remaining days. It's all good.
