Not even close. It's about 60 here today, "cold" for Austinites. They freaked out last night when it looked like it MIGHT sleet over night. So they closed all the schools, and my looney-toons office said, oooohhh... don't come into the office, you might all die in the ice and cold. Um. It's perfectly dry out, there is no ice. I've lived where there is bad weather, and this isn't it. What a bunch of wusses. Only me and three other people came in to work, wonder where the rest of them are? TPBM like the game Barrel of Monkeys - or did, when they were 4.

Feds was a big favorite of mine, and I still don't dislike him. But I did disagree with him leaving the Wings the way he did, for more money. Look what it got him, though. So I think he's been punished sufficiently. As for boo'ing him, who cares? He doesn't, I bet. The Wings have moved on in such a positive direction since Feds departed, I can't say that we should hold it against him, still. He may have done us a favor. I've always referred to Feds as the most talented under-achiever in the NHL. I sincerely believe that the only reason we saw the flashes of brilliance that marked his play when he chose to play his best was due to Scotty Bowman knowing precisely which buttons to push.

Amen about the hair. Mine is sucky, too, but at least I have some. I love celery, but my favorite "filling" is Laughing Cow cheese. Yum!! TPBM read more than 3 books last year for pleasure (textbooks don't count, they're mandatory)
-
I love Z. I just hope he's able to play for 12 years, with the back going out several times a season. He's a horse in the playoffs, so I guess that is what matters. I sure wish I had that kind of job security, never mind the dollar amount. That much money is beyond my comprehension, anyway.

Were you watching? Yes. Honey buns. Still in their wrappers. I am not that stupid. OK, maybe I am. TPBM has been to more than 20 states in the continental US. Driving through them on the way to somewhere counts.

nice goal, Commodore. Jackets win, oh well...
-
LOL@ the "Let's Go, Red Wings" chant...
-
No, but I've hugged a Buffalo Sabre. Does that count?? TPBM has had a surprise birthday party thrown in their honor.

Of course, you have to know which way you're facing. So, that way you know if the sun is rising or setting when the light shines in your face when you wake up. I used to travel a lot, and would forget where I was, and sometimes had to check the room service menu or phone book to remember what city I was in. I would get out of bed sometimes in the midlde of the night and run into the wall -- where there wasn't one the night before in the last hotel/room. Talk about disorienting, I am glad I don't do that job for a living anymore. 55 would have had to take a compass with her. TPBM knows better than to put socks on before their toenail polish is completely dry.
-
Nope. The people above me ignored my post and didn't answer the question. I didn't know you could do that. But, OK. New rule!! TPBM always sleeps on their back.
-
yeah. Racoons. TPBM is going to work out today.
-
G-d damn, you are one tough broad, 55! -18 in a nighty? I would have just left the garbage another week. It was frozen solid, anyway... No. I refuse to post pictures of Pronger in my home. TPBM is getting antsy for the next Wings game (minus our Captain and Pasha). We will prevail!! **** Bettman!!
-
Victory is the best revenge. Babs and the boyz just need to show up and beat the tar outta Columbus. If the Wings don't miss a beat in this game, and the members of the team who are able to play all show up, I don't have one doubt that they can defeat Columbus. That will make a bigger statement to Bettman than anything else. Try as you might, you can't affect the Red Wings with your idiotic tactics. No point in sinking to his level and playing Nick and Pasha, there will be worse consequences than possibly losing one game -- which I do not believe will happen! Go, Wings, rise above this!!

Didn't watch it, or actually even recall what channel it was on. I haven't watched in several years, though. The last really good weekend was a long time ago, about 1998. If the NHL is willing to bend the rules to make a point of punishing our best players for boycotting this sham of a showcase, then I doubt they care if we LGW'ers didn't partake. Perhaps the next commissioner will do a better job. Can we impeach Bettman?
-
I believe the Wings will rise to the 'occasion' and show Bettman that his smarmy tactics don't make one whit of difference to the Stanley Cup champs. Sit our Captain and best player, see if it stops us! If I were Columbus, I would be a bit worried. Pissed-off Wings = not a good thing if you're the other team.

not even close. I wish fervently that I knew even one other language. I understand enough Spanish to survive, but that's because of where I live. TPBM does crossword puzzles in ink.
-
nope. They haven't done anything wrong, so no need to defend them! I hope they had a nice vacation, too. TPBM is cooking something yummy right now.

this couldn't be any funnier if it actually WAS a joke. Theo Fleury, of all people, calling out ... anyone? Never mind Nick and Pavel? It's January, otherwise I would assume this is an April Fool's joke. I can't imagine that anyone with an ounce of intelligence would give this article any credence. However, I assume that most hockey fans possess an ounce of sense, in that case.

Crosby is a child, literally. A very talented one, but a child in many ways. He'll never be Steve Yzerman, that's for certain. Here's what an actual all-star calibre player had to say: from hockey news Jerome Iginla sez: "Lidstrom's been at a lot of all-star games and he's played a lot of long seasons, which is a good thing - you want to win championships," said Iginla. "I don't think as players here we judge that situation. [i supposed he's referring to whether Lidstrom's absence, or Datsyuk's, is an issue with the players] "A lot of us would love to be in that situation, where you've had longer seasons and been in so many all-star games." Apparently, the PTB in the All Star selection underground flat-out turned down Rafalski and HOSSA as replacements for Nick and Pasha. I have no link to substantiate, but I believe I read that somewhere. I can see why Bettman would want names like Nick and Pasha, but Raffi and Hossa aren't exactly chopped liver. The whole thing is suspect. I hope they re-vamp it next season or drop it entirely. EDIT: based on the post below, I now know the Wings who could have stepped in declined. My bad... but I don't blame them. There is such a thing as taking one for the team, and then there's team solidarity. Maybe the entire squad decided to hang with Nick and Pasha and refuse to participate. I'm with them.

Is it possible to move to impeach Bettman?
-
I am a little confused. What does boycotting the All Star weekend have to do with watching every moment of it? I am not even sure what channel it's on...
-
now, now... You don't know that. Maybe it will be good for the team to have to step up and play better. It wasn't like they were doing so great before the break. I just feel sorry for whichever goalie gets the nod, if the team doesn't show and Pasha and Nick are out.
-
Possibly because the stars who were voted in declined for personal reasons? Bettman saw this coming, and it's his own fault. Either re-vamp the selection process, or scrap the whole thing. It's embarrassing.
-
Make Flip go to the All Star Shame. That'll teach him. He's as good as pretty much anyone else who is going, seriously.
-
Now that Bush is gone, I am free to focus all of my negative feelings on Bettman. I hope there is an inquiry into why other players opted out in recent years for personal reasons -- yet Pasha and Nick have doctors' excuses and they are required to show up for this farce or be suspended. I am not a conspiracy theorist, but I do believe he's doing this because having the two best players in their positions in the league, never mind the Cup champs, not show up makes the party look a little less shiny in Montreal. yes, I am biased in Nick's favor, before you all trot out statistics. Pasha, goes without question he's the best in the NHL right now. Fix the selection process so it isn't a joke, and perhaps the players will be more interested in participating. I think the Wings can do without Pasha and Lids for a game. They'll just have to play better, and it's not like they've been stellar lately anyway.
