I haven't watched in years, since it became a joke of a PR stunt, badly handled from stem to stern. The *all star* game is just an event, albeit fun (maybe) for some of the guys. It's a goalie's nightmare, so I doubt they really enjoy it all that much. Anyway, our players are such good guys, they probably will show up if asked. Quite a few last year, including the actual starting and second voted-in goalies, declined to participate. I thought more of them, for that. They both had family issues and injuries to attend to. I wish all of our players would sit it out, personally. The All Star Sham is the antithesis to the Winter Classic, IMO. That was a show worth watching. I am glad I tuned in and recorded it. Even some of my non-hockey fan friends checked it out and declared it awesome. Should I tell the NHL?

Apparently, you're not alone. I read this morning where Lemaire was unaware of the surgery pending for Gaborik. No one had consulted him. That the mark of a coach who's lost the team he's paid to guide. linky Don't worry; the doctors say Marian Gaborik could be skating again in six weeks and playing in 10. Based on what we've seen so far, that means Gabby should be back on the ice sometime around 2011. I asked Wild coach Jacques Lemaire if he could see any sort of silver lining in this mess. "I got nothing," he said. "I didn't even know he was going to have the surgery until you just told me. When is he going to have it?"

Ozzie will be fine, the Wings will be there for him and get him back on track. Wild are missing Gaborik, 10 weeks or ? with an injury. Dom was not involved. j/k Have fun at the game 55fan!! and anyone else lucky enough to be there today. Winner winner chicken dinner, 5-2 Wings.

I hear nothing but good things about Larsson. You all near/in GR would certainly have a better take on that. As for McCollum, he's 18. I wouldn't give up just yet, as many an elite goalie matured into the role later in their career, just as some wunderkinds in goal fizzle out when the real deal is looming.

that blimp shot of the rink looks just like my brother's tabletop hockey game from the '60s, where you put the guys on the surface and the metal vibrated and made them go everywhich way. He had a football game that did the same thing. -
