I wouldn't care if he smacked it with a badminton racquet as long as the puck stays out. Great one, OZ! Stone 'em and make 'em cry!

2008 SCF Game 6 GDT: Red Wings 3, Penguins 2

true... I think one team will win and the other one will lose, too. Can I be on TV now? The NBC crew has said at least 6 or 7 times now how "nervous" the Wings are. I hope Mac aims a puck strategically at one of their heads. Oops.

So what are you drinking tonight, Edi? I have a nice pinot grigio cracked here... God, Nick Lidstrom is the coolest person on Earth. Go, Wings!! Hurry up, Game.... we are being treated to nothing but Pens clips, nothing but slurping the Pens from the announcers. Bettman really wants the Wings to lose, no question. He's a happy slappy man!!

2008 SCF Game 6 GDT: Red Wings 3, Penguins 2

I can't stand Eddie O., but he's right. The Wings better come out there, ready to sacrifice and bleed for it if they have to. Unless they want to win it at home, but that's taking a pretty big risk if you ask me.

2008 SCF Game 6 GDT: Red Wings 3, Penguins 2

Hey everybody, the Sidney Show is on!! Gather 'round... the Penguins are playing!! Who is the other team? They haven't said yet... Sykora is the best player according to these announcers.

Hasek has been a real team player!

I like Mad Max movies. A lot, actually. The point here is, this is a "Hasek is a team player = good guy, we appreciate him thread." Appreciate, as is what a good job, Dom, we thought you were great. Coming in to post just to point out that Ozzie is better, etc., is derailing the thread. There is only one positive thread about Dom in this forum. Whereas, every other thread this entire season has been anti-Hasek (whether it actually started out having anything at all to do with him, didn't seem to matter), so this one time.... can we just be positive about Dom and not try to prove how useless he was this season? Is that asking too much? Probably so, but in the spirit of this evening and in honor of this season, I wish some of you all would try, at least. Ozzie would probably not appreciate the concerted efforts of his ardent fans to try and make him look better, at his partner's expense. Ozzie actually likes Dom, unless he's pretending, and I don't think Ozzie is that sort of person.

Hasek has been a real team player!

I don't believe anyone in this thread ever even implied most of what you said here. Praising Hasek has nothing to do with Ozzie's competence. Someone made an off-hand comment that Ozzie learned some stuff from Dom. He did. Ozzie said so (go back and read the article I posted this morning). Lots of nice hyperbole and over-reaction here, Eva. No one will disagree with a lot of this, since you made it up in your head. It takes nothing away from Ozzie to admit that Dom was a great team mate, and certainly not a detriment in Detroit this season. So relax, and quit trying to prove Ozzie is the better goalie. He was great for us. We all know it.

Hasek has been a real team player!

What does this have to do with Dom? Nothing? Thought not. Keep your head up, or you won't last in the NHL -- at least not for long. You're really reaching to try and de-rail the thread, but that wouldn't be anything new from you.

2008 SCF Game 6 GDT: Red Wings 3, Penguins 2

this may have already been posted, but I don't have time to read back... from snapshots (blog) on mlive, George Malik reports: Detroit Red Wings defenceman Chris Chelios spoke to WCSX's JJ and Lynne on Wednesday morning, and in the 8:19 report, Chelios suggests that the Wings need to improve in terms of their PP, PK, and Osgood must play at his best so that the Wings can avoid a seventh game in Detroit. He does note that the Wings are bringing in their families on a charter this afternoon. That tells me they plan to win tonight. Go, Wings!!!! Finish this!!!!!!

Hasek has been a real team player!

Just a little aside for the few who believe that Ozzie has nothing to learn from a legend like Hasek. As someone else here said, who in life knows everything and has nothing left to learn? zen goalie "After I play a game, I just try not to talk about hockey. I just try and blank my mind. Right after a game, right in the dressing room, I'll eat an orange or have a banana or do whatever I do to get stretched out, just try and breathe easy, just forget about hockey for a while, just to clear my mind so I'm not blowing my mind out anymore. "I learned that from [Dominik Hasek]," he added. "He was relaxed off the ice. He was calm and jovial, then when the game started, it was 'Game on,' ready. I really noticed he saved his mind for the game. Sometimes, before, I was kind of blowing myself out even before I stopped the puck." The hallmark of Ozzie's turnaround season is his calmness and willingness to accept and not take things personally. He says he learned this from watching Dom, his partner in goal. Ozzie is the man, and so is Dom. I am glad we got that settled before the end of this season, as it could be Dom's last. However, regarding next season: if I know one thing about Dom, it's that you will never know what he's going to do, until he does it.

is it tomorrow yet? Thanks for the great GDTs, Aflac. We all know you've had a busy year and this was a labor of love for you, all for our benefit. They are a joy to behold, and I thank you. OK, it's time to end this thrill ride! Go, WINGS!!! ** going to bed now, just in case we end up in OT again. Please, no... Um, GO, WINGS!!!

Hasek has been a real team player!

I hadn't watched that old Mastercard commercial in a while, but it brought back memories! Dom was truly something to see in his Buffalo days, wasn't he? Watch that commercial, at the very end, where he bats the puck out of the zone with his stick, like he's serving a tennis ball. He quit doing it before he came to Detroit, but it always made the opponents crazy when he did that. Dom can handle the puck. Just not the same way anyone else on Earth does it. He's proved beyond all doubt that he can handle the situation in Detroit, too, with a smile on his face and sincere appreciation for his partner in goal, Ozzie. Thank you all for giving credit where it it definitely due.

SCF Game 5 GDT: Penguins 4, Red Wings 3 (3OT)

DS, did you watch the game? If you agreed with the two interference calls on the Pitts goalie, then you're all alone. Even the morons on NBC (correctly) tagged those calls as bogus. Wings fans have a right to be upset over this. You will never see Babcock or any Red Wings, certainly NOT our captain, whimper and whine in the post-game, nor will they ever go whining to the officials. You went to a lot of trouble to identify some posters here who are understandably upset about the officiating. Normally I would defend your right to express yourself here, but you're out of line on this. Yes, the Wings should have won in regulation. They quit playing with a one goal lead and 6 minutes to play. It's not something a team can do, and expect to win the Cup.

SCF Game 5 GDT: Penguins 4, Red Wings 3 (3OT)

as much as I hate to say it, I have to agree. Remains to be seen who shows up next game. Maybe they'd better put Cheli and Mac back out there, just for the hell of it. Sorry for NeverForgetMac#25. He and his wife were there, and this is what they got treated to, instead of the Cup... because the Wings stopped playing in the third with a 1 goal lead. Where have we seen that before tonight? Hope they show up on Wednesday. Not as much fun to win it in Pittsburgh (gross), but we'll take it anyway. Night (or good morning, rather)...

perfect. Lovely. Too bad, Wings... and there's your brainfart. Hope they can find a couple of goals in Pittsburgh.
