Hasek to play for Buffalo in 1999 Cup Final "Do-Overs"
puckloo39 replied to digitaljohn88's topic in General
The NHL amended the rule after the fact. It wasn't legal at the time, but typical of the NHL, they made sure it stood, for obvious reasons. You can't unring a bell. What a shame. It was a very fine technical point of discussion, as to whether Hull was in possession of the puck... or not. It's still debatable, unless one is convinced 100% that one is always right about everything. Done is done. That call was no different than the goal scored by SJ off the netting this season - except you don't leave room for questionable calls in a 3OT game that decides who gets the Stanley Cup. It was just wrong. Then, and now. I attended "game 7" in Dallas in October, 1999. Buffalo beat the socks off of Dallas. Too bad the Sabres didn't get to take the Cup back home with them to Buffalo. -

It's a joke. So was the 'goal' which awarded the Stanley Cup to Dallas in 1999. -
Burnside breaks down the WCF and picks the Wings in 7

I... think I love you. Very few here will agree with you, for the most part - and you may not care. But you have some valid points, just not very popular ones around here. Turco was great in the last series... nothing short of it. How he will fare with the Wings coming at him is another story. Will he overcome his phobias (and Datsyuk?). Will Mule take him to school? The Wings haven't really faced a challenge yet. The entire team played badly in round 1 until the wake up call in game 4. Since then, they've been the team one expects them to be. The Avs were crippled and never had a chance, really. Dallas looks ready to hand the Wings a challenge. But I think the Wings will prevail, as a team. -
You've come to the right place. Welcome!!

I'd certainly be there if I had the cash. There are still great tickets available online, I am surprised by that! They are going for a rather large price ($200 apiece), but hey... if I could swing it at all, I would live large just that once. Ya'll have fun. I don't think I will even be able to make it to Dallas for a game, but hold out hope that my boss in Big D will give me his tickets for a game. I would walk to Dallas for that, if I had to.

Even my friends in Dallas loved this one. They are not big Turco fans, they think he's going to fail in the WCF. Let's hope so.- 495 replies

according to Norby. Who watches ESPN for hockey news anymore? I haven't watched ESPN for years... It is kinda cool that he's donating his fee to the Humane Society.

Burnside breaks down the WCF and picks the Wings in 7

I was joking. Why would the Wings want Morrow? And, even if they did, why would Dallas consider getting rid of their captain? And since when does anything I have to say matter around here?? -

Grigs won't ever be a Wing, hon. And we don't need Morrow... I just like his snarl and his playoff attitude. We got Kronner to kick butt, right? -

JMO, but I think Smitty's excellence messed with Turco's head/ego in Dallas. They got rid of Smith, and Turco 'instantly' got better. Turco is a character. I like him, in spite of myself -- we need guys in the game with some pizzazz. Wings will mess with his head, too. Holmqvist is the backup. He is not good, so barring a total disaster in front of Turco I would not expect to see him in there. Mule + Dats = Turco nightmares... -

Not necessarily going to happen in Detroit. I think it's going to have to be pretty drastic in terms of a melt-down by Ozzie, for Hasek to get another shot at it. And I don't see that happening. So I wouldn't worry about it. Morrow has impressed me. I want him in a Wing's sweater. j/k Dallas would never turn loose of him... -
I love the fact that he almost took Zubie out, too, accidentally. Zubov is like, "Whoa!!"

Great post. What a fabulous game that was. I don't even mind being tired today, it was something to see. I guess Brendan Morrow just showed us all why he wears the "C" in Dallas now. I love Mikey Mo to death, but Morrow is just amazing, inspiring, and puts his money where his mouth is, so to speak. What a leader, what a performance (the entire series, not just last night). Neither goalie "deserved" to lose... they were both fantastic. I am intrigued to see how Turco responds to Mule and Co. San Jose played tough, and it didn't get them very far. I have said all year, don't underestimate Dallas, and I know the Wings do not. Literally anything could happen in the WCF, and probably will! I can't imagine anyone who witnessed that game, hockey fan or not, could ever question that the NHL playoffs are more exciting and compelling than any other sports playoff. Bar none. Is it Thursday yet?

I consider the Dallas Stars worthy opponents, indeed. They are just a notch below the Wings in terms of talent, across the board. If the Wings keep playing the way they performed against Colorado, there is a chance of a 5 game series. The danger here, to the Wings, is assuming that Dallas is anything like the depleted Avalanche team they played in round two. I hope the Wings don't underestimate the Stars. They have a way of pulling out a trick or two when you least expect it and are a great third period team. *hint, play all 60 minutes, Wings. Morrow is on a mission. Turco certainly has overcome his playoff demons to an extent -- but he's about to meet Mule and Co. It's going to be a fun ride!

retribution for Morrow, and those disallowed goals. No question on that one! Marty, you're about to meet your match (Mule and Co.), but that was an amazing effort. Night-night~

sexy! I love zambonis. Our local practice rink has an electric one, but it's not near as cool as yours.

you mean the number of shots the goalie faces actually influences the save %age?
