From all the way in Austin, Texas

we love Austin, where they don't know what a Red Wing is, except for about a dozen of us! The locals think Red Wings are shoes.

The Let's Hear it for Datsyuk Thread!

Z is the flash, but Dats is the consistent one. No way he doesn't win the Selke. But he'd rather have another Stanley Cup, I bet. So smart, Kenny, to lock this man up as a Wing. He will retire a Red Wing one day (a long time from now), if we're lucky.

' oh, so mean... I like Barry. I hope he's very disappointed in his team's effort vs. the good guys, however.

2008 Photoshop War: Predators vs. Red Wings

there is actually a section of Nashville called "Queen City" but lots of cities with British roots use that nickname. Charlotte NC is actually named after Queen Charlotte of Mecklinberg. So, lots of cities call themselves that, I know for sure Cincinatti does, for example. All to honor The Queen ... Tootoo or Elizabeth II, take your pick.

2008 Photoshop War: Predators vs. Red Wings

hahahaha!!! Well, Nashville is sometimes referred to as the Queen City (one of many, actually), so this is very fitting, in more ways than one. I bow to everyone else's superior artistic talents. Keep 'em coming!!

    Round 1: Wings vs. Predators

I hope Dom kicks ass and takes names during the playoffs. Barring injury, he's likely to play every game, but I would not be at all unhappy to see the Jennings Tandem do just that, tandem: way to look like an idiot, Pierre Dom and Ozzie aren't buying into the notion that the Wings have goalie problems... As well as Hasek and Osgood have played this season, they still have their doubters. NBC analyst Pierre McGuire, who worked Sunday's game, said last week that he thinks the Wings are "in trouble because their goaltending is unproven this year." Told of McGuire's comment, Hasek smiled. "I have to laugh about it," he said. "You know, I don't think about what I have to prove and what I don't have to prove. I play my style, and I do whatever is best for the team to stop the puck. He made his comments, and this is something that doesn't bother me. I'm going to play the same way. I don't want to prove anything, I just want to do my job."

the state of the locker room

That. I really don't get why people want to look for trouble where there is none. We might spend our time better, worrying about the refs and missed calls, and injuries, and other factors that will make the Cup run hard enough, without scrounging for drama which doesn't exist and isn't a factor. Hasek and Osgood are both mature professionals. Neither of them have any interest in a pissing match, now or ever -- unlike the fans and commentators, who seem to want this to be true, for some reason. Commentators get paid to say something "interesting," regardless of whether or not it has any basis in fact. Believe what you want, but know that a lot of what you see and hear is hype, often augmented by a very vivid imagination. Besides, they're as likely as not to say the exact opposite, the next time you see them.

    Round 1: Wings vs. Predators

I can't believe Nashville fans call Tootoo "Toots"

this game was 4-0. Too bad the refs don't call things evenly, but such is life. Ready for the playoffs!!!

the state of the locker room

there is an outside chance that the analysts you mention have their head up their ***es, hun. I wouldn't worry about it, at all. Dom and Oz, the sexy Jennings tandem, are just fine. So are the rest of the Wings.

you know I was looking. He earned it. Should have been a shutout, too. Just wish Dats had gotten his 3 points today, but it wasn't meant to be.

Let's hope NBC doesn't pick the three stars: Toews, Kane and Khabi. Great game, I am proud of the Wings for showing up and playing great! Nick is a God. Dominik was wonderful, play-off ready!

I am thrilled by the effort today. They didn't lay back at all, drove to the net, scored FOUR goals... I am very, very pleased. Just wish Pavel had gotten his three points. Maybe he still will...

they seem to be waffling a bit, depending on what just occured on the ice. Therefore, I don't give much credence to anything they say.

I draw my own conclusions and don't feel that I have to believe everything out of a hockey commentator's mouth. In fact, I believe very little of it... I love Nick Lidstrom. That's the leadership I am looking for.
