I guess someone much more knowledgeable than me will have to explain why Hasek garners criticism and crap from fans for "losing" a one goal game, where Ozzie gets praise and sympathy, even when he doesn't play any better. I guess that's just the way it's gonna be. Better luck next time.

That might explain a few things, and perhaps avoid having people posting we would lose vs. the Preds with Hasek in net. That is, unless someone else takes liberties and runs over the goalie again.

If the discussion is about who should be starting in goal in the playoffs based on this evidence, I am afraid such logic is lost on me. Oz and Dom are basically tied in all that is important. Wins. So what if Ozzie faced more shots? Who says they were all more difficult than the fewer shots Dom stopped, or vice versa? Numbers don't tell the whole tale, ever. Apologies to eva, I know you love stats. Tweaking numbers dismisses other factors which are less tangible, but just as important when the puck is dropped in a real game. Everybody has favorite players and we are all entitled to be biased -- it's part of the game. But when it's this close, it is comical to see how far some will go to *prove* the guy they don't like sucks. Especially when neither of them actually do.

Ozzie: GP 36, W/L/OL = 24/8/3 GA = 70 SO = 4 GAA = 2.07 sv% .917 Dominik: GP 34 W/L/OL = 22/8/3 GA 70 SO = 4 GAA = 2.09 sv% .904 If Dom had played last night with the same result, he would have been virtually tied with Osgood, especially in all that matters, and that's the WIN. But somehow his numbers indicate he's been "outplayed". Interesting, sort of... I guess. What really matters is not how you get there, but where you end up.

I hadn't noticed that Kopay gets bashed all that badly on LGW. I like him, personally, thoughI am not sure he's had the best of breaks this season as a player... neither has Hudler. It's really tough to shine on a team like the Wings, what with the level of players they're surrounded by night after night. As for collective hatred of Czechs, I think most of the Czech players I can think of share one common characteristic: they're not North American. I think what sets some fans off [no one in particular, no one here, necessarily] is the really great Czech players* are very confident in their own abilities, don't take any crap off of anybody, play their game the way they know best, which is usually amazing -- and don't really give a rip what anyone else thinks. They're not especially politically correct in their media presence and tend to say what they are thinking, if it's relevant. Otherwise, they say nothing. It doesn't always serve them well with the average, casual fan. Of course in LGW, "all the women are strong, all the men are good looking, and all the children are above average." If you know where that quote is from, you are very smart indeed. Smart players (and fans) appreciate the skills, rather than focusing on the nation of origin. *Hasek, Jagr, Hejduk, Elias, Nedved, Vokoun, Vyborny... to name a few.

Makes getting to go to the game even more special for the world's biggest OZZIE fan! I always am extra-happy on the rare occasion that I get to go to a Wings game and Dom is in net. This ought to be fine, so long as there's nothing really bad wrong with Dom. Ozzie being prepared and all warmed up for the playoffs is a good thing. I am in the minority I am sure, believing in this particular case, a goalie tandem in the playoffs would be just fine. No, it's not normal. But no other team has the luxury that we do, having two #1 goalies. PS - does anyone remember the play where something happened with Bonk on Sunday?
