    Q&A with Ozzie

this is news to you? I think they've both changed their games, for the better, as returning Red Wings.

    All-Star Weekend Open Thread

ozzie on his ASG experience Ryan Rishaug talked to Osgood, Lidstrom, and Babcock about Osgood's performance in a 1:31 clip, and Osgood has this to say about his evening: "I'm completely devastated right now, I've gotta tell you. I'm, um, I'm taking a cab back by myself, and I don't know if I'm gonna go home, I might go straight down to Florida, get on a boat, and go to the Cayman Islands for a little while." He said most of it with a straight face, too. Emphasis on most. * ** Don't get the boo'ing/razzing on Oz. As the tsn guy said, now Ozzie now goes back to being the #1 goalie in the NHL on the #1 team in the NHL, so we shouldn't feel too bad for him. I should hope not. Love how he 'almost' keeps a straight face in this interview. Babs says Ozzie in goal on Weds. (vs. Coyotes), so be sure and run up that score, Red Wings. * 'borrowed from snapshots blog on mlive, G. Malik's great blog

Yes, he should have been. But Staal is stuck with a mama-minivan, and Nash was the better player. Win-Win!!

meh... it's hard to go first and be the starter, I think. Or maybe it's harder to go last, I dunno. Nabby had the middle stanza, least pressure, but he was also really good, esp. on Kovy, there's no denying that.

there will be no "All Star Jennings" for the Western team, I fear. Then again, maybe Legace will be perfect, too, who knows??

Pronger, what a jack ass he is... **mutes interview** What in the world, they have a marching band on the ice for intermission??? Only in Atlanta, I guess. Hockey in the south demands a marching band and cheerleaders. Wow.

indeed. Let's go cheer for the Caps and Nashville. It's a stupid exhibition, who cares, really. As long as our players come home safe and sound, this ASG will quickly be forgotten by most people. They're interviewing Manny now. He's had a great time this weekend, hasn't he? And to Manny for his work with breast cancer research and funding.

Should I stick around? Nash scored 1.5 minutes after I tuned in. Who says Babs is even qualified to coach in the playoffs? He sucks. Strip Lids of the "C" and send Dats to Grand Rapids for conditioning stint with Ozzie. We're doomed. ^^ above comments are dripping with sarcasm, in case some of you don't get it... ok?

I just tuned in to the ASG 2nd, 12:07 left, since there's nothing else on. West is down 5-1? Wow. Was DiPietro that good? Or can the East just not get a puck on net? I know this "game" doesn't mean anything" but if nothing else, bragging rights are at stake.

What I love most about Reem: nothing ever gets you down, does it? Always something positive to say. You're a lovely counterbalance for those of us who complain all the time. Edi, Vip, the rest of you guys... welcome to my camp. I seriously couldn't care less if this is the last "All Star" game.

Should the NHL drop the All Star Game

True, oh, other smart one. How ridiculous to put Turco in over Dom, just because the ASG was held in Dallas. By that logic, Lehtonen should be starting instead of Ozzie. Everyone's conveniently forgotten that Dom sported numbers very much like Ozzie's this year, yet Dom was passed over. Go figure. I didn't want Dom there anyway. On the off chance he got hurt, everyone would have thrown a fit. So, it's best this way. Keep Z and Dom and Cheli out for a rest. We will need them.

Should the NHL drop the All Star Game

best I can tell, they're already doing this now. There are some instances where even the numbers don't matter, however (Rafalski this year, others in past weekends). The politics of the selection process needs to be removed -- whether it's including players who don't "deserve" to be there based on their career achievements, or some some cases, snubbing certain players for the same reason. edit: sp

Detroit looking to reward Babcock with long-term deal

Babcock is one of the best coaches in the NHL, and he's been great for Detroit. Pay the man, and hope he stays for a long time.

Should the NHL drop the All Star Game

UD, I don't disagree with most of the rest of your post, but this part... well, if the NHL wanted to actually showcase the players and call this a national marketing weekend, they might want to consider putting the festivities on a network more people can actually see. I get Versus, only because I have to shell out for digital cable top tier in order to get Center Ice. Otherwise, Versus is not available here. The NHL Network is not and will not be offered in this market; that's according to Time Warner Austin, who ought to know. There are other ways to get the feeds, obviously, if you have the time/money/energy to spend jacking around to get hold of it and if you're willing to sit in front of a computer screen all weekend. The computer route is inferior and inconvenient for most, but a hard core fan might do it. Casual fans wouldn't know where to start. My point is, if the NHL actually cared about attracting fans, they would make the showcase available. I am not sure what the ASG is good for, other than fun for the players who are going and for the fans who will break their necks to try and see their favorites. The good thing about this weekend is that it will give some of our players a chance to rest and relax. It's a long season and they've been working hard. Other than that, if the NHL did away with ASG, I would not miss it at all. JMO.

    "Queens" Chase Giguere!

announcer: "he scores!!! No wait. nevermind!" wow. Nothing for the Kings on the PP.

    "Queens" Chase Giguere!

ya think? I was just thinking LaBarbera looks huge tonight. That's because he is huge, all the time. 6'3" and 230 pounds. Jeez, you'd think it would be hard to move all that mass, that fast. 5-3 for Kings.

    "Queens" Chase Giguere!

the Kings are nothin' special, Duckie. LA has a chip on their shoulder tonight, and Ducks are tired, or look like it tonight. I am glad the Kings had no legs against us on Tuesday. They were slow and off-kilter and no challenge at all for the Red Wings. I can't say that about the Ducks last night. Great game!
