I have the same concern. They had that 'big" win last night v. the worst team in the West. Now a back to back v. the best in the West. The allure of a nice long break and desire to get home might be distracting, though. I smell trouble tonight, but maybe they'll surprise me and beat the smully Yucks. Hope so. Edit: thanks for the pics, Duckie... I am at work and can't play with picture edits here.

it's fans like you... who give me hope that hockey might survive. No more hockey on TV? Run away, Run away!!

The packages differ all over the place depending on the service and vendor, I think. Here in Austin with Time Warner, you have to have digital cable to get Versus (and of course, to get Center Ice). ESPN is available on analog cable, for a third the price. The way technologies are being deployed, I suspect the lower tech offering (analog) will go away soon. I am more peeved over the NHL Network pirating games I paid for full-price on Center Ice this season, but now don't get to see. Time Warner Austin does not offer, or apparently ever intend to add NHLN to the digital channels (for MORE money). So, we simply get ripped off here, don't we guys? Center Ice is OK since it's the only way to get Red Wings games here, though it's too expensive when coupled with the digital cable fee for a lot of people. We don't get to control which feed we get, sadly. It's only Detroit FSN about half the time. Sometimes I listen to NHL radio and watch Center Ice, if the announcers are homer-ish enough on the feed I get. You do what you have to do, as a fan of the New NHL. Again, I think it's just odd that the NHL seems to me to be trying to make it harder to see hockey, not making it more fan-friendly. My friends who are non-hockey fans think I am insane, with all the money and trouble I go to, just to watch a sport I love. Can't imagine that a casual fan would ever see a game, as complicated as they've made it here to access hockey on TV.

exactly so. Not only unwilling to undo, but they actually seem to be trying to make things worse. To what end, I couldn't even guess.

For some, Versus is all the hockey they get to see, or that they can afford. I never minded ESPN. Of course, I live in a hockey-starved market, so I am not able to compare with the great coverage Detroit area fans enjoy. I can see why Motown locals didn't think it was so great, ESPN was fine with me. Before the lockout, I got 40+ Wings games in one season. For free. On regular cable. Didn't even have to pay for digital cable in order to see games. It's not Versus' fault that the NHL has screwed everything up. Instead of making hockey more available to the regular fan, they've made it pretty much impossible for even the most devoted fans to watch games, regardless of the money spent and effort expended. Given that there are approximately 12 of us Wings fans here in Austin who are affected, I don't expect things to change soon.

Hey, maybe Selanne will be there!! That, I might watch.
-
you'd think so, wouldn't you?

Neidermayer is apparently being included for what he accomplished last season. It could hardly be said he's being recognized for an accomplishments this season. Following that line of Bettman-like reasoning, I can name 5 or 6 players who should be there, some of whom were actually chosen/voted for by fans, who are excluded. Go figure.

4rd'ed, Duckie, you are a cut above the rest. See you tonight, right?

many of this years' ASG participants will be shoo-ins for the Hockey Hall of Pretty Good.

nice setup game to finish the trip strong tomorrow night, boyz. OT, but funny: Wings paintball fun “I with Homer and Fill,†Datsyuk said. “We special KGB group, me and Homey and Fill. We have European style, jump in and everybody shoot. Ask later, who still alive.â€Â

I didn't tape the game, but I don't think I imagined it. I guess Dom can just head on home now, huh?
-
Dom's already rolling, in case you hadn't noticed. They said in the opening that Ozzie's playing tomorrow night, but I am not sure why. It's a back to back and Dom's "turn" but Babs said he reserved the right to decide. Maybe he's giving Ozzie a chance to get his game back before the ASG.

I am OK with Versus. They're getting better. CI is too expensive, so I may have to give it up, since the NHL Network is going to steal the good games anyway, if they get their way, and NHLN isn't offered here. We shall see... VS may be all I get next season.

aw, don't overturn Mule's goal... he wanted to score one for his daddy!
-
no, but I may have nodded off, so I can't be sure.
-
maybe that's what is wrong with the Kings? I tell ya, LA shouldn't be as bad as they are, if you look at the roster. Too many individuals and no chemistry maybe? They remind me of Dallas a couple of years ago, when they just looked terrible, no matter what they tried... then Hitchcock left and they got lots better.
-
look back at rosters in the 90s -- those games features real stars. 1998 was the best one, the World vs. North America. The last couple of ASG, not so many actual stars.
-
whew... quick little flurry there in the last minute.
-
Maybe Pav is mad they're making him go to the ASG without his Euro Twin?
-
nothing wrong with that. Yay, Sammy!
-
eek! this has been a good game for the guys to get in a little practice, so far. Or maybe I am just tired, or something.
-
Wings looked sloooowww... but the Kings are slower, so it's all relative. Our D was off, hence 11 SOG on Ozzie. I guess Cheli's off tonight, checking out his house in Malibu. Who cares if we got outshot, I guess, so long as the score is still 1-0.
-
we've gotten some lucky bounces tonight, may that trend continue...

blue button "select", erase, Edi. LA on the PP, let's hope our PK is going tonight.
