do what I do. Stick your fingers in your ears and go la-la-la!! I have nhl.com radio on, and the versus feed on TV.
-
Thank you, Pavel, honey... easy-squeezy. Welcome back, Homer. Never leave us again, for any reason.
-
powerplay, Wings. Interference on Zata. Please score a nice little goal, Wings!!
-
I had just about convinced myself that it was a total anomaly and could "never happen again." I refuse to think no one will come through for us tonight.
-
Please don't say that, you guys. No more NYE no-shows, please???
-
all of the above is fine with me, in any combination.
-
OK, Wings. Enough of feeling out Theodore. Put some pucks behind him in the next stanza, please? Nice effort so far! I hope Flip gets a goal tonight.
-
Cheli is the man. Stickin' up for the Captain, atta boy!!
-
the Wings look basically the same as they did the last two games. Dominating. Smother-cation of the opposition. Avs are trying to get into it, but not getting much traction yet.
-
I thought you were home already. Stay there, have fun! There's on online viewer for Versus, at least I thought so. I will go look for it... unless someone else can find it and post it for you.
-
yes! No fanfare on his return, but he's already got a SOG.
-
Homer's back! Yay!

The next time someone complains about me and Packer or any other Hasek supporter "whining" about Dom not getting any love, I am going to cite this post. Good grief. Ozzie's gotten nothing but props this season, and well deserved, of course. Hasek has turned his season around and still gets crap from people. He did last year, as well - it's never good enough, no matter what. Someone's going to carp and nitpick, and debase even a winning effort using some line of 'reasoning'. Of course, people used to do that to Ozzie as well, but not this year, if you're paying attention and are not just dwelling on perceived slights to Osgood based on past history. I think it just comes down to who you like -- or who you hate, as is the case with some people where Dom's concerned. As Packer said, giving Ozzie credit shouldn't be a reason to dismiss Dom, or vice versa. The good thing for All-Ozzie-All-the-Time fans is that no one hates Ozzie, that I know of, anyway. Dom got passed over for the ASG last season, when it was pretty obvious that he should be there, rather than Turco. Meh, no one here cared -- it was just Hasek who got snubbed. Certainly not me, BTW, as I didn't want him anywhere near it. That's not the point. The point is, Dom "deserved" to go. Maybe Ozzie does too. I don't know who "deserves" to be the playoff goalie, since it's January. I would be happy with both. Honestly, if Ozzie was ASG first string goalie, got the Vezina, and was the #1/only goalie in the playoffs, I do believe some would still complain about that damned Hasek was hanging around, winning games. edit: clarity

now, that would be interesting.

Packer 487 for President. You are awesome, my friend. About this "name" thing: For those who think Dom gets praise because of his name, I often tend to think the name has a lot to do with his being ignored for game stars and given little credit for playing well. It's like a double edged sword, that HASEK on the back of the jersey. So much is expected... any mis-step is overblown. OSGOOD has a similar problem, in a way. Some fans wait to pounce on anything he does "wrong" and who tend to think his victories are accidental or temporary. I don't think so. I think he's actually changed the way he plays (as has Dom), for the better, in the New NHL. Kudos to both of the Wings goalies for being so talented and able to adjust and excel. I was at the game in Dallas Jan 5. Hasek was amazing. I was thrilled to see the Wings play an amazing game, too. Hasek really didn't just stand around and stop 22 pucks accidentally, but didn't get a game star. Ribiero did, for 0 goals, 0 assists. Oh, well... I didn't get to see the Chicago game last night, but assume Ozzie was just as good, and that the Hawks no longer smile when Detroit rolls onto the ice. Ozzie and Dom are both playing equally well at the moment, and I don't see any reason to break the pattern. For now, anyway. Anything could happen, good or bad, to influence the decision of who is #1 for the playoffs. I say both of them would be fine, but I know that is unusual to tandem in the playoffs. Then again, so is having two legitimate #1 goalies, especially on a team this good.

Ray? what the heck is wrong with you??? So glad we have the players (and personalities) we do in Detroit. The worst you'll see here is the tough decisions: whipped cream or shaving cream?
-
OK, you have a point. If one does believe in such things, it's not like it hasn't happened to both goalies more than once. I typed out a more comprehensive answer to this but erased it in deference to those who are offended by what I really think. Everybody pile on!! Dom and I are used to it by now. Go, Ozzie!! I wish you were playing in Dallas on Saturday. I really do.
-
you'll live, Harold. I don't believe in jinxes and that sort of stuff anyway. As if I have the power to change the outcome of a game... I would have used my magic prowess to have someone in a Wings sweater show up and score 4 goals for Dom on NYE, if that were the case.

The Stars were actually more like the Iowa Stars than the Dallas Stars tonight, missing Zubov and Boucher, and playing at least three or four rookies and sophomores -- Conner, Fistric, Grossman, and Eriksson, that I can name off the top of my head. Their rookie Eriksson, scored the only goal, set up by Fistric, playing in just his third game on recall from the AHL. Stars won't make the mistake of playing Turco again at home on Saturday, and Zubov is slated to return. It will not be a good time for the Wings to take the night off. The Stars will be waiting for them.
-
I knew it was someone wise and venerable.
-
I can't recall, but I think it might have been some wag in this very forum last season who said "If Marty Turco fell on the ice and split his head open, Red Wings would spill out." Bet I get to see Smith in goal on Saturday in Dallas. Betcha!
-
I tried, Toby. I really did. They are going to believe what they want... We should fire Babcock if he doesn't insist that Ozzie be the first team starter! j/k
-
that sounds about right! Too bad Dom played so well (2nd star), yet he still gets the "L" beside his name. I maintain that Dom doesn't lose games alone, anymore than Ozzie wins them alone.
-
oh, that I had such powers, Mac. I guarantee you things would be a lot different this season. Sorry, Oz. But it's not like there was any danger of us losing, was there?
-
when? This 4 goal shut out or the other one, with 5 goals?
