I have more than one opinion, Mac. Which one were you referring to? Dom was injured and played the first few weeks out of kilter because of it. He got a bad start , some bad luck, and now is slowly gaining ground. Meanwhile some Red Wings fans are ready to write him off the first week of January. Sad. But as you say, that's the NHL, I guess. When the Wings don't show up in front of Ozzie one time, I will have more faith in the theory that **** happens. Turco? Still there???
-
they miss Zubov. He's the quiet leader and glue out there. He's supposed to be back on Saturday, so I do hope everyone shows up again. I paid a lot for my 10th row center ice ticket.
-
It's my opinion and my observation that Dom's had some rotten luck and been dealt bad games this season and he's taken the brunt of the criticism for several losses that belong to the team. But OK, if you think it's ridiculous. OK, back to the game.
-
Dallas is going to be playing farm club guys on Saturday at this rate. Boucher and Zubov gone is bad enough... Wings are not playing the Stars at full strength in this game. But, I guess that's good, right?
-
woo!! are they gonna chase Turco or will Tibbs let his keep going?
-
thank you. It's not bias to observe that the Wings don't play well for Hasek, and they do for Ozzie. They're human. Well, maybe Nick's not... If they don't show up for Dom, then Babs had better play Ozzie more.
-
true. Which leads one to question why they didn't show. I for one don't buy the "we're too tired and there's the travel" excuse. Blues had the same sched. If they play better for Ozzie, then play Ozzie. Dom can't fix that.
-
it's a lot easier to win when the team scores for you.
-
It's a good thing, right? Too bad about NY Eve.
-
yeah, they're trying. Missing Zubov on D, he's the backbone like Lids is for the Wings. It shows. Otherwise, the Wings look considerably better than they did on New Year's Eve (understatement).
-
I would say Turco's off tonight, but it is the Wings he's facing. Plus he's missing Zubov tonight. I would love to see Pav de-frock Turcs again tonight, that said. I am betting we get Smith in goal on Saturday in Dallas.
-
Wooo, Franzen!! Glad someone can find the back of the net tonight. Guess it took a total no show on NYE to get them going?
-
finally. Loo, checking in here! Go, Wings!!!

Before a couple of other posters that have said this already about 40 billion times come in here and kill you guys.... ASG Coaches do not have a say in who plays and who doesn't. Alternates are chosed by NHL Hockey Operations. I wouldn't be surprised if the coaches and others are consulted, just due to the political nature and PR aspects of the game (ability and stats don't always count for much in the end), but don't be disappointed if Babs doesn't make this happen with Ozzie. I am glad for Babs, it's a nice honor, even though he said it messed up his plans for a ski trip.

as I recall, cprice is a proud Blues fan, who at least has something to be proud of this season. The Blues have definitely improved over the last year. And for what it's worth, I agree with him, that the Blues had every right to be "tired" from games and travel, too. They were the better team NYE, and the Wings didn't step up in their own barn to close out the year with a win.
-
I don't think so, but it would be nice if Dom got a game where the rest of the team showed up. He was the only one out there New Years' Eve in a Wings uni and didn't deserve to have another loss chalked up to him. But I expect Ozzie will be in tonight; he has a good record vs. the Stars, and it's his turn, regardless of how the last game ended.
-
My favorite Star out? Phooey... they will miss him, for sure. Good for us, though.
-
I love your take on this game... it sounds like fun!! How shocked will you be if it turns out just like this? BTW, if it does play out the way you've predicted, I want you to give me my lotto numbers for this week, OK?
-
here's hoping they manage to muster up at least one goal tonight for Ozzie. I'll go out on a limb and say 3-2 Wings, in regulation.
-
The need for constant praise for Ozzie is just a bottomless pit for some. Doesn't bother me, though, he's a peach of a guy and I like him, too.
-
I'm sure the Wings would like to just forget about this one and move on, too. But, I hope they don't just blow it off as inevitable and unavoidable. They're better than that, I think.

Start? Let's put it this way: if Oz had drawn the Thanksgiving Turkey game and the New Years' Eve No-show (both games in my estimation being un-winnable for the goalie), his record would now be 15-4-1, theoretically. All other things being equal, Dom's numbers would be 14-4-2. Before the bashers jump in to deny all possibility of this happening... yes, Dom could have won two other games just as easily as he went 7-1-1 in December. He didn't deserve to get the "L" in this game, plain and simple. Dom will be in net when I see the Wings next Saturday if they stick to the rotation. I hope the real Wings show up in Dallas. That's all.
-
Both teams are winners as far as I am concerned. Wouldn't you know, who got the GWG? Could this have turned out better, if you're Bettman?
-
ah, hahahaha!! Shoot out!!!!
