The game was hyped to death in Buffalo, according to my friends there, but it has been exciting to watch. I hope they do it again. "Let's Go, Buffalo!" cheer from tens of thousands of fans. Pretty cool stuff for the Sabres...

Sidney Crosby won't be the first player to be hyped until you want to kill him, just to make it stop. He won't be the last. It's not Crosby's fault he's amazing. Pang is a pandering fool/media tool, so I don't expect much else from him, really. Miller has just been phenomenal, so has Conklin. What a fun experience for the players, and I am in awe of the fans who are toughing this out. Cold as they must be, I bet they don't want this to end, ever.

It would be nice if everyone else would do the same. Not going to happen here, though.

How's this? It's not funny that Hasek has been the designated goat/goalie in the few lack-luster games the Wings have turned out this season. It's very sad indeed. The Thanksgiving Day game was another example of the Wings not showing up, when Dom played well enough to win. Apparently, holidays have a very debilitating effect on this team. They blamed fatigue and the road trip for their poor showing last night. Dom was on the same trip, yet he certainly played well enough to win. I have a very expensive ticket to the Jan 5 game in Dallas. I hope Ozzie plays in that game, as I am not in the mood to have the Wings make a fool of Hasek right there in front of me, again. There's no party to go to afterwards, that I know of, so that should help. I know, I know.... these things happen. We'll just say it's Dom's bad luck that he got the nod last night, I guess. I'll mark this game up to an abberation. Again. Oh, well, they will win on Weds. As you say, onward we go!

there is a lot of pride in Buffalo regarding hockey, and rightly so. It may not be hockeytown, but it is a hockey town. They love the game and their team, just like we do. This game is great for Buffalo NY, and for the Sabres... fun to watch, but I sure am glad I am not there. Listen to that crowd! I hope a few non-hockey fans see this and realize what a great game hockey is.

Those of us who were not impressed by Emery's pimp act and posturing knew this was likely. Gerber has shown that he can take the crap from fans and the coach in Ottawa, along with a stretch of bad luck last season, and rise above it. Emery is showing his true character now. Not to say he isn't talented, but it takes more than ability to be a consistent #1 in the NHL. Ozzie's not a back-up in my mind, he's Dom's "partner in crime." Dom's been patient and a great team player with the Wings. He works his butt off every day to play his best. The person who allows that to happen at this stage in Hasek's career is Ozzie, just by being who he is. However things turn out this season, both men have done their best for the Wings and that's all we can ask, IMO. Detroit is hard on its goalies. But Ottawa gives us a run for our money on that front, and that's a fact. Ask Lalime.

I think you've nailed it. Party on the brain, just inexcusable. Did you see Babs' face when the Blues got the EN? He was just disgusted. They owe Dom a drink and an apology for this one. You're right about the Blues, too. They wanted to win this one and simply didn't let up, not that the Wings pushed very hard to get around them tonight. Party on, Wings!

oh, man, I hope I am wrong. I just can't help but think about Hank and that back last season, and how it stretched from days to weeks, even though every day was "day-to-day." Scary. I haven't really missed Maltby, but I have missed Homer out there, especially tonight. Anyway, what's the Russian word for horse, because Datsyuk is going to have to shoulder the load for this team in January, I think.

I'll bet Hank and Maltby are out until after the All-Star Break. That will mess up the marketing plans on the ASG, with no Zetterberg, but he's got no business going if he can't play regular games.

the only other chance was Dats' quick shot right off the face-off, which Legace read perfectly. Of course, he did. Totally pathetic. At least they didn't totally screw Dom on sv% since ENs don't count. I'll take what I can get tonight and like it, I guess.

NHL Three Stars: 1. Legace 2. Hasek 3. Johnson (for the only goal of the night) I'd say that's about right, except 50% of the shots on Legace were powderpuffs.

I would bet my tickets for Stars/Wings on Jan 5 in Dallas that they show up Wedneday night. It's pretty predictable.

Why do I think you would not be so calm and collected if it was Ozzie they'd left hanging out there, busting his butt tonight, with nothing to show for it? It's not impossible to answer one goal, not for this team - they just didn't do it tonight.
