um, maybe? No, no, just kidding. We are no longer bored. Penalty shot for Vrbata? Wayner is not whining now.
-
ok, until right now. I jinxed us by saying I remember when Jovanovski was good. Um... damn.
-
Never have figured out what Stevie Y sees in "Panger" -- I even hate his nickname. Just saw that Pipsqueak Panger is commentating the outdoor classic game in Buffalo. Guess I will just turn the sound down. * apologies to those who like Pang. Notafan, here.
-
wish I could help you, Dats. Yahoo is about the only alternative feed that ever works for me, and they're not broadcasting any games tonight.
-
oh, crud, I meant to record that game.
-
pretty much, Miquel. Sorry you can't see tonight. The Yoties seem a bit tentative, but Bryz is looking good on low-percentage shots. Remember when Jovanovski used to be good?
-
Sammy! Strader blames the Yoties' D, but that was just a good goal. He was playing at being Homer, parking himself in front of the net.
-
he did. It's a matter of time before one (and more) go in tonight. The Wings are playing well. Lucky, there. Wide open net and the Yoties missed...
-
lots of broken sticks out there tonight. Raffi almost got one there! Bryz is quick.
-
glad I am not th e only one who thinks so. turning on NHL radio and Detroit audio now.
-
dive. Lebda to the box for ...something. Ozzie saves a chance, there.
-
beautiful job on the anthem, Trevor, son of Dave Strader (Yotes announcer). Lovely voice on that lad. on a more sour note, I hate that coyote howl stupid thing they do.
-
I think they will manage to win anyway, when Hank and Homer return. Time for some hockey! Make Wayner cry, boyz!!
-
I would go see Mac play, if this happens for him (if I didn't live 1000+ miles away, that is). He's always a Red Wing to me; I just wish things had turned out differently for him. Maybe it will still be good again for him, even if he's not a Wing, mentoring younger players and having some fun in the bargain. I will never forget his contributions in Detroit and I know you guys won't either. Go for it, Mac, and good luck!
-
you're right, of course, about the contract extension and the rest. Hockey is a business, and things change, but I can't see either of them anxious to leave Detroit. Then again, I never expected Fedorov to leave either, or Shanny. So, you never know. I see Z as the next Captain, in a few years when Nick is gone. Oh, the horror -- no Nick? Maybe he will be like Queen Elizabeth and simply refuse to leave office.
-
Maybe the Wings will generate more than a one goal lead tonight, so we can make Wayne cry about running up the score. Cheli is back tonight. Rafalski will have a better game, hopefully, no passing to the enemy, please. I expect the another good game from Flip, Kronner and Hudler. Otherwise, I don't see much of a challenge tonight, but you never know! Worried about Hank, here. I hope he's back by Jan 5 (I have tix for Stars/Wings in Dallas), but I won't be surprised to see him gone until after the All-Star break. 4-3 Wings in regulation, I say.

I have worn a silver octopus pendant every single day since 2001. A friend gave it to me (also a Wings fan) to bring luck to the Red Wings. It's quite beautiful and when people ask me about it, I tell them about the Wings and the history of flinging cephalopods on the ice. I also play my own invented game of "Red Wings License Plate Search" in traffic. If you live in Austin, you know how much time you can spend looking at the rear end of a thousand cars every day, trying to get from point A to point B. Whoever is in goal, I have to see a 30 or 39 - or we'll lose. If I see a line combo - 40, 13, 96 - that's extra good luck. So is seeing combos on the same plate, 33 and 18 for example, but that's harder to do. If I see a player's number more than once, he's going to score that night. I saw Flip's 51 twice yesterday. Ta-da!! Now you know how I amuse myself in traffic. Warning: this takes practice, or else you will run into other people while searching for Homer or Lebda numbers or somebody, so watch out! Other than that, I have to wear red somewhere on my person on gameday.
-
excellent recap, Crym, thanks!! I am glad you got to go to the game.
-
NHL.com 3 stars 1. Flip 2. Dom 3. McLeod (congrats, kiddo...) Hudler was great tonight, too, as was Kronner. Can't say as much about some of our D. But we won. Moving on to sunny Phoenix! Edit: Babs just said Ozzie is playing in Phoenix on Saturday, and Dom on New Year's Eve v. the Booos.
-
agreed, Dom could use an easy game after this one. My heart's going a million miles an hour. Play the hot goalie -- Hasek is 7-0-1 in his last 8 games, winning the last 4 straight. Dominik with win #374, 11th all time, tied with Beezer. Where did all the whiners go? I like yahoo. they show post-game!!
-
we have the distinction of giving up the most shorties in the league. Hooray. PP's are not so exciting when viewed in that light.
-
don't know that it's such a good thing. Come on, Wings!!!
-
HUGE stop, Dom. The Avs announcers said the Avs have the fewest PIMS in the league. Of course, they are too busy causing them (dive, dive) OY! Avs in the box, highsticking. hehe~

Dats was everywhere on that shift. Amazing...
