I completely understand. My friends here (non-hockey fans) think I've lost my mind for paying so much. But it's better than no hockey at all. I am listening to the Detroit feed, but it's not the same as seeing the game. Phooey... Oh, well, GO WINGS!!!!!!

I am with ya, Houston. This is unbelievable that we got suckered into paying for CI, only to have our games swiped. Someone who's watching, take pity on all of us who are shut out, and tell us how they look.

I did the exact same thing, Mac, when I saw the game missing on CI schedule, I checked Versus in desperation. I am hoping Miquel Beltran will pop in and post his wonderous linkage, it works perfectly every time.

There's nothing to "give up" Eva... just saying that's how it was. I didn't say it anyway -- the press did, and the media during the weekend. I couldn't care less if Dom goes this season or last. And I wasn't comparing Dom to any and all other WC goalies. The fact was, he was more qualified to be there than Turco. That's all. So, people shouldn't be surprised if Ozzie isn't selected based on his play thus far in the season. Now, if Ozzie refuses to lose another game between now and January 15, then I think he'd have a case to just show up in Atlanta. here is a little perspective (yeah, it's Burnside, but oh well): what does the NHL want the All Star game to represent? "We can understand the inclusion of Marty Turco as one of the West's three netminders because the game is in Dallas , but Stars defenseman Philippe Boucher was justly named to the reserve roster. Is there a better renaissance story than the play of Dominik Hasek in Detroit? Or how about Chris Mason? He kept the Predators afloat during Tomas Vokoun's long injury convalescence and leads the NHL in save percentage, a save percentage markedly better than that boasted by Turco, who has struggled at times this season." Will Ozzie be this season's Chris Mason? podcast on All Star 2007 snubs and silliness w/ Rory F it's at the end and the show is long, but it's very interesting re: who got selected for 2007 ASG and why (at least according to the guys doing the podcast).

Dom and Oz rotating starts latest from practice today...

Just a gut feeling, but I think the goalies and the team will work this out, and all will be well. We're a whole lot more concerned about who gets how many games and when, than either Ozzie or Dom. They know what they are doing. Each knows where their own strengths lie and they understand each other as professionals. I trust them both, and Babs. I am not worried if we have either one in goal for the playoffs, or if we have both. Personally, I think it would be great to tandem for the playoffs, depending on which goalie is the one who presents the most challenge, head-game wise, to the opponent in a given game or series. Who knows what will transpire between now and April? I expect the "sexy tandem" to rule the league. No more, no less.

I know... I was making a joke (sort of) about how the arena the game is played in seems to be a factor in who gets selected. OsGod, don't worry about Ozzie in the HHOF. I would be more surprised if he isn't nominated, than the reverse.

there's the answer... I believe by "the League" is the NHL Board of Governors. Add Bettman to the mix, and you get decisions such as Turco being chosen over Hasek last season's All Star PR bash. So, Ozzie's selection may be an arbitrary thing, in the "capable" hands of Bettman and Co. Maybe if everyone emails Bettman and puts in a plug for adding Ozzie, it could happen. But I think it will boil down to which goalie (aside from the starters who are voted in) is more camera-friendly, or funnier with a mic on, or something else related to what they think the fans want - not who's playing best. Altanta doesn't have funny or particularly capable goalies, so it's possible Ozzie will get the nod.

I do understand, and I don't disagree with you on the split time. I don't know why Babs decided to put Dom in tomorrow. Perhaps they'll start tandeming after this weekend. Dom didn't get much work with Montreal, other than a few clutch saves, it was not much of a challenge. Maybe the coaches think he needs a couple of periods with some tougher saves to get him back in it. I expect Ozzie on Sunday, don't you? At any rate, I don't expect Dom to suddenly get a bunch of games in a row in favor of Ozzie. That would surprise me.

May I respectfully disagree, Vangvace? The All Star game is fun and a nice honor, but I seriously don't think it reflects the actual abilities of the player or his records and achievements in the NHL. I think Ozzie has a very good shot at the Hall of Fame, regardless of the outcome of this season's All Star game. JMO.

Ozzie might cool off if he doesn't play, and Hasek won't ever get going if he never plays. So what are we going to do? Whatever Babs decides, I guess.

Don't get me wrong, Mac. I would be OK with whatever games Dom gets, if it is every other game or every third game, whatever... he will do whatever Babs says. I do understand that Ozzie doesn't "deserve" to sit, but I am not sure it's about that. I guess we have to trust Babcock to know what he's doing. I don't worry about Ozzie losing his edge over sitting out two games in a row. If that happens, we have a real problem.

well, yeah, what you said. We have one goalie who got the opportunity to establish his game, and another who will do the same in short order. What's wrong with having two Cup-winning goalies who are both on their games? If Oz is as comfortable and confident as he seems to be this season, then putting Dom in tomorrow night shouldn't be an issue. I'd wager Ozzie has no problem at all with Dom getting back into some games.
