I guess you would have to ask the people in the Wings' organization who are saying it. He's played 11 games this season. How does one earn starts, by the way? Babcock makes the decision who plays. Hasek's been a good sport, and says I play when the coach says play. What else can he do?
-
so there is no room for discussion? OK, then.
-
that's your opinion. I have one, too.
-
I know. I was being sarcastic. But it does seem that they are pushing him off, game by game. Understandable, given the circumstances. But I am not sure how he's supposed to be Roger Clements and play the second half of the season, as Babs suggests, when he's not getting the opportunity to get into games. Winning is everything, so we go with the goalie who's winning, right? where has anyone said that, ever? Except for fans in here saying it, I have not seen one shred of evidence that the Wings intend to do that. Got a link?

Fan-oof is like Pronger. He can't help it if he's taller than Jiri, especially when he jumps a little. Good for Lilja, at least he made the effort!
-
So, basically, Hasek never plays again if some of you get your way? Hope Drapes is back soon. We will miss him on the PK. And does Drake coming back mean no Downey?
-
I am all for it. Pay him league minimum and put him back in action -- he'd work his butt off for us. I love Mac, and want him to have a chance.
-
I loved Datsyuk's comment that he wasn't feeling very "energetic" last night, didn't think he was all that good. Dats on Dats How utterly terrifying for the rest of the league, if that was Dats when he's feeling tired.
-
Oh, I agree, Vip. I just loved the way he put it about Lilja "adjusting his helmet." You kind of have to re-adjust your headgear when a stick whacks you on top of the head from behind. Lilja was startled more than hurt, luckily. I don't think DIon intended to do it, no way. But the fact is, you have to control your stick. His bad luck that Andreas just happened to be standing in his way when that stick went wildly swinging around on its own, I reckon. I thought the officiating was OK and fairly balanced, better than some I've seen this season.

it must have been frustrating to watch as a Flames fan. We feel the same way when the Wings are paraded to the box 6-7 times in a period for (some) calls we don't agree with. It's about control, and players losing it when they are frustrated -- as the Flames were in the 2nd. They felt they outplayed the Wings in the 1st and yet the Wings were ahead and gaining momentum. Frustrating, for sure. My favorite quip of the evening was on a Flames board (yes, I was lurking), where a poster was ranting against the penalty Phaneuf took for highsticking Lilja in the head. He said it was unfair to penalize Dion, when Lilja was just "adjusting his helmet." I think he was serious. Glad Hudler is OK, and Flip, and get well soon, Drapes!!

I officially love Andreas Lilja.

looks familiar, don't it?

Down to a one-goal lead again? Iginla won't give up, will he?

Flames fans heads are exploding right now... they want Kipper fired and the back up installed immediately as #1 , they hate Chelios, they want Datsyuk, and think Nick's C looks "stupid" on the wrong side of his jersey. Bless their hearts.

tell 'em what Barnsie used to say, dallas: "I might be small, but I am bigger than the puck... and faster!"
-
one of the best goalies I've ever seen played for the Austin Ice Bats, Matt Barnes (played for Western Michigan in the late '90s). He is 5'4" - no joke. He would have been NHL calibre if he was even a little taller. Speed and reaction are the key, and he had it all. Plus he fit under the cross bar without bending over.
-
Flames are losing it, literally. Can't stay out of the box. Let's capitalize on their misfortunes, boyz!
-
Curtis McElhinney he wears #31. A nod to the other Curtis?
-
I imagine it does hurt! The three goals are also part of it, but not the reason he got pulled, I don't think. He's rattled and hurting, not a good combination with the Wings offense heating up tonight.
-
certainly a logical assumption. I think the people at ESPN.com were shell-shocked. It took them ten minutes to update the scoreboard after those two bang-bang goals.
-
I was trying to forget. I forgot Roenick was with the Sharks, too.

it stutters sometimes. Just log back in. it's back.

Drapes with a twisted ankle? I hate Owen Nolan (it wasn't his fault, but I hate him anyway...)
