what a great attitude, so grateful for all his opportunties in Detroit. Great choice, good luck, Jiri.

Go, Ozzie, it's your birthday... well yesterday was, but hey! Go, anyway!! Versus announcer referred to the Wings as "Henrick and his guys..."

    Down with the Instigator Rule

oh, OK, thanks Lou! That makes sense, in context.

    Down with the Instigator Rule

stupid question: is it true that the coach gets an automatic $10,000 fine if one of his players gets an instigator penalty? My friend in Dallas said that, and I am never sure if I should believe him.

    Dom Bashers Welcome!

I agree that the team wins the Cup. I never said Dom won it for them, or that Nick and Stevie were not instrumental. Stevie did exactly what he was there for, to put some perspective on the situation. Each of them, along with Mac and Igor and Luc and pretty much everyone else, including role players like Duschene and Freddie O., were instrumental somewhere along the way. Of course, the Wings didn't win in 2002 only because Hasek was involved. They didn't win it in spite of him, either. Not anymore than they lost game 6 vs. the Ducks last playoffs because of Dom. I think fans should try to give credit where it's due, and not dismiss players who were instrumental in winning a series or a game simply because they don't like the player. But that's just me, I guess. I am a huge fan of Dom's, it's true -- I prefer to be a fan, as opposed to engaging in hatefulness and bashing for the sake of it... so sue me. We will see who shows up and owns up when Hasek returns to form, and who just goes away, I guess. That is what will stop the mindless trash-talk. Not much else will, I think.

    Dom Bashers Welcome!

Some fans don't recall that Hasek was even involved in that Cup win, but I bet the Red Wings know that he was key to getting past round one, and the rest of the way, as well. Not sure it's worth your time to continue explaining, Booster... but I know what you're talking about.

    What Would You Do?

We need defense, but not so sure McLaren is the answer. I also wouldn't want to lose Mule, either, and certainly would not want him with the Sharks. I think we haven't seen his best yet this season, anyway. Much as I like Chris Gratton, no thank ya. He's got size, though, and so does McLaren. But I don't know that losing Kopay or Lebda (who I can also see as trade bait) would be worth it.

    Dom Bashers Welcome!

I am sorry you have such a negative opinion, but glad you got that off your chest. It's a fine addition to the general dismissal and bashing of Hasek this year -- let's get personal since the stats are not a good enough reason to trash him. What does your version of Hasek have to do with anything related to hockey, if any of it's even true? BTW, I guess Chris Osgood is a fool or a liar, or at the very least a very bad judge of character, since he says he likes Dom. So do Chelios and various other Wings who actually know him, so there's something fundamentally wrong with all of them, I guess. <<< this is sarcasm, for the slower-laners in here.

    Dom Bashers Welcome!

yes. So? I've met Ozzie, too. I liked them both. Your point was....?

11/24 GDT: Blue Jackets 3, Red Wings 2 (SO)

Unless you're psychic, you don't know how the games would have played out, if the goalies had been reversed. And IceMunkee is right. Ozzie has the momentum now and can do no wrong. Hasek doesn't, and can do nothing right. It's all perception and perspective, when it comes to winning and losing in Detroit now. The scores in the last two games were the same. Only the perception of who was to "blame" for those results is all that different.

    Dom Bashers Welcome!

The good thing about the Hasek Hatred Bandwagon Campaign of 2007-2008 is that the most prolific critics and haters are suddenly writing in complete sentences and using punctuation. They really are literate! It's a miracle. Maybe Hasek will get credit for his work in adult literacy, since he won't get credit for anything else this season. It's entertaining, in an odd way, to see how some people can weave an insult to Hasek into threads which have absolutely nothing to do with Hasek. Some of the hatred is completely transparent, and doesn't have anything to do with Dom's rough start this season. Make all the excuses you want, it is opportunism at its best. Hammering over and over on points which are transient and... well, pointless, doesn't make it right. It's just obnoxious. I am not saying this as Dom's biggest fan, which I am and will remain, regardless of what happens with him in Detroit this season. Ozzie's been great. There's no arguing that, of course. Will the momentum continue? We all hope so. Does it need to be at the expense of Hasek? I am not so sure that's needed, since we don't know how the rest of the season will play out yet. Anything could, and probably will, happen. To borrow a phrase, I defer to my avatar and signature.

11/24 GDT: Blue Jackets 3, Red Wings 2 (SO)

unlikely, that. I posted in another thread, the last 14 games of 16 this season are vs. Central opponents. Either we get their number by then or we don't. I say we will. Just glad to have teams in the division who give a little bit of challenge, that's what keeps it interesting.
  17. puckloo39

    Central Division, finally strong?

14 out of Detroit's final 16 games this season (March-April '08) are against the Central Division. Could be good, could be...not so good. But very interesting, to say the least.

    11/22 GDT: Predators 3, Red Wings 2

I agree with your comments. Right now, it doesn't seem that Ozzie can ever lose a game or that Dom can ever win one again, but both situations are bound to happen. It's just so extreme to see Dom with these stats -- so I guess the reaction from fans is predictably extreme as well.

    Dom Bashers Welcome!

agreed, Flip. I got to see most of the game tonight (ooh, HD!), and it wasn't all on Dom. He made some great saves tonight, and the Wings weren't able to score on the powerplay. Everyone looked ready to go home and have belated Thanksgiving. I still believe Dom will be OK given a bit more time. Serious question here, though. If the Wings do give up on Hasek and buy out his contract, or whatever it takes to get him off the roster, do you all see them going to the playoffs with Ozzie and Jimmy Howard? I guess I don't, especially if they wait til the deadline to make a decision. I don't see them dumping Dom, but stranger things have happened.

    Osgood - All-Star Game

    you are correct.

    Dom Bashers Welcome!

but everyone is having so much fun turning everything into a bash-Hasek thread regardless of the actual topic. It's very creative!

    11/21 GDT: Red Wings 3, Blues 0

hi, Harold, not implying anything. A shut out is a shut out. Just trying to provide a little bit of balance to the overwhelming support for Ozzie, vs. the Death to Dom campaign in here. But whatever... what happens, happens. Like I've said before, hockey is a "what have you done for me lately" kind of thing. I am glad for Ozzie. Just wish it wasn't happening at Hasek's expense, is all. I understand the vindication factor, but do wish people would remember that Dom isn't a criminal, just had a streak of bad luck. Ozzie doesn't win hockey games alone, anymore than Dom loses all of them alone. Don't worry, I don't expect fairness in this. Have fun tonight!!! Go, Wings!!! not all shots are the same chances and same quality... just sayin... Nothing Hasek does or says will change the negative opinion that has taken over this forum, even if he does win now. That's just a shame.
