they told me the same thing... last period. Ain't gonna happen, I say. TWC doesn't have the iO sports package in Austin, so I will just hope that NHL Network didn't buy all the Wings games, I guess.
-
I could. I paid $$ to WATCH it, though. So did you, I know... bummer.
-
care to expand on that?
-
thanks! Someone mention what's going on once in a while for those of us who now have no Wings to watch.
-
anyone happen to know the score, or is there one?
-
OK... here is the scoop from the nice guy I just talked to at NHL Center Ice. Time Warner among others bought NHL Net. Some of the franchises are online and some are not. Austin is not, and there is no indication that it ever will be... sorry, other Austin fans. So we cannot even pay a premium to get the sports tier that has NHL Net on it, we are just out of luck. On a brighter note, the guy I talked to said that it just so happens that NHL Net picked this game to suck off of Center Ice, and he didn't believe that it would always be the Wings games. But he couldn't tell me that for certain. He recommended that we email center ice and the Red Wings and tell them what is going on. I threatened to cancel my Center Ice package, but I doubt that TimeWarner in Austin would miss the 10 or 12 people here who actually pay the $170 bucks a month for the priviledge of not seeing the games which are the reason we pay the price. Nice.

um.. I don't think it's your techs, hon. The cable system decides who gets screwed and who doesn't with this NHL Net (which doesn't exist if you ask my local reps here in Austin). I just want to know if it's always going to be the Wings blacked out, and if so, I am going to cancel - or sue TWC.
-
include me in that, RI. I called them today, and the customer service reps I talked to didn't have a clue what I was trying to ask them. I figured when I got home the game would be on NHLNet - which doesn't exist if you ask an Austin TWC rep. I wonder if they are only blacking out Red Wings games, or what? $170 down the drain, if so. I am going to ask for a refund, and see if I get anywhere...

Time Warner C.I. not broadcasting DET/NSH Game?
puckloo39 replied to NeverForgetMac25's topic in General
trust me, they don't know around here! I searched the TWC site online and got on hit: a 10/23/07 memo from the president of TimeWarner Austin, talking about maybe getting a deal for the NFL Network, with one sentence that said something about maybe including the NHL in the sport pay-per-game package. They're only one letter different, right? So, I still don't know if this means CI will drop all the Wings games that are going to be on the other sports package, in other markets... I wish they would a) make up their minds and do one or the other, or b) leave it alone! -
Time Warner C.I. not broadcasting DET/NSH Game?
puckloo39 replied to NeverForgetMac25's topic in General
I couldn't find anything on TWC Austin's site. If they haven't launched the NHL Network, does that mean the Wings will still be on Center Ice? If not, does that mean I have to subscribe to Center Ice and NHL network sports pack, too, in order to see NHL games. That's ridiculous, plus I can't afford to pay twice to get CI and another paid sports package. I would call Time Warner and ask, but have no faith that I would find someone who even knows what I am talking about. -
Wings more physical Lidstrom has noticed the same thing I have, about the Wings playing better as a team: "The goalies have been playing well for us," captain Nicklas Lidstrom said. "I think we play a lot better defensively in our end, too, just finding open players, clearing the slot out a little bit better than we did in previous games." The Wings have definitely played better the last 6-7 games. The teamwork in the penalty ridden, choppy games in the first half of October's games hardly resembles that in the last half of the month. I hope we get to see this one on C.I. - I won't know til I get home tonight if TWC in Austin has it listed. Go, Wings!!
-
I've heard he's not the only one who's done that. What matters is how the player comes back from such occasions, and Dom is a champ at that. I am afraid so.
-
exactly the right thing to do! You go, Babs!! All will be well...

Things change, Opie. I always was mostly amused by Avery's antics. But you're right when you say he's not dirty next to some I could name. He doesn't whine and he doesn't back down. His intent is never to injure, simply to play his style and try to cause something to happen for his team. I am not a huge Avery fan, but never had that big a problem with him. My favorite Avery-agitator moment was when then-rookie Sean skated behind Georges Laraque and said, "You can't handle me, Georges!" Laraque looked down at Avery like he was a bug, or a piece of annoying lint...

I have trouble understanding why Wings fans don't support their own goaltenders, but I ought to be used to it by now, I guess. But fair enough, Toby. I am sure you have your reasons for backing Brodeur, and that's fine.
-
Burnside doesn't like the Wings, I think. Aside from being right about Pavel, he was pretty far afield on most other things, wasn't he? I often wonder why people like him get paid to write about hockey. There are a ton of people in this forum who are better writers and who are a LOT smarter.
-
Nik will be OK, but he sure does have some bad luck with boo-boos. I am starting to think Mule hangs around him too much, lately... he's not doing too much better in the healthy dept. j/k they'll be fine...
-
Because Nick Lidstrom has been the same for three years? Wonderful? I just hope whatever happens that Jimmy doesn't get thrown in too soon. Ozzie won't permit that, if he is able to do anything to prevent it. I can't speak to how well Howard plays, since all I've seen is numbers in AHL, but I take everyone's word that he's special and the Wings' future in goal.
-
schedule/scores here you go. Upon closer inspection, 2 of the 4 goal losses were due to empty netters... I don't usually care enough about NJ to watch every game, so I was looking at scores and numbers. And as for making excuses, Hasek doesn't need anyone to make excuses for him, any more than Brodeur does, I guess. I simply point out the opposite side of the story to offset the persistent negativity from some fans toward Dom. The team has a lot to do with losses and wins... like... when the team takes 26 minutes of penalties in one game. Hopefully that was a fluke, but it accounts for one of Hasek's two whole losses this season.
-
Hasek is 4-2-1 last time I looked. Brodeur is 4-6-1. Dom will get better, now that he's healthy again. Is Brodeur hurt? He's lost three games by NJ being shut out (which wasn't his fault, of course). My bad... 6 games, not 7 - one was Weekes. The 4+ goals per game were not all losses for Brodeur. more Wins. He's ahead in that.
-
Crosby's 1st goal was PP, but since then, you're right. sidenote: Brodeur has allowed 4+ goals in a game 7 times this season. So far. I can only imagine the backlash to any goalie here in Detroit who lost 8 out of 11 outings. Before tonight, Brodeur had .896 4v% and 2.72 GAA, according to ESPN stats. So, no.. I am not really kidding.
-
5-0 presently, Crosby with 2 G so far. We just need to play NJ with Brodeur in net. They finally yanked him. Have mercy...

I didn't read every post in this thread, but that is just the wrong thing to say about Mac. Isn't the selective memory about who did what and when for this team an amazing thing? I miss Mac, and hope he's OK. He's made some bad choices, but I pray he finds his way. He won't be a Wing again, likely, but I hope he lands somewhere that's good for him.

I agree with you, Edi. I have never liked Forsberg, in much the way I never liked Waahhh... But like him or not, I hate to see a player whose body forces him to give up the game before his heart and soul have come to terms with the situation. I feel the same way about Jiri Fischer -- except that I was crazy about Jiri, and still am. Hope Petey stays home in Sweden and follows in his daddy's coaching footsteps. I imagine MODO would love to have Forsberg hanging around, in any capacity.
