you first! You're ready to dump Hasek after three games?
-
Luongo is at .900 and 2.95 GAA But yeah, whatever... Harold's right about low SA effecting sv%. Not sure how Hasek is supposed to generate more shots against himself but I am sure he'd prefer to be busier than he has been.

***((((hugs Aflac)))))*** we missed you!! Now that we have an official, beautiful aflac-GDT, WIngs win!! I will miss most of the game. Starts too early here for me to make it home in time, but I should catch the third perry-odd. Hope the DVR is working tonight! Ya'll cheer 'em on for me, OK? xo, loooo

Missed the game last night, but DVR'd it. It's only the second game, and not a big deal -- not as if it was a huge upset and they played like crap. The effort wasn't what it could have been, but it wasn't that bad. This type of game is going to continue to happen in the new NHL. Factors against the Wings included losing Mule to injury, and the disallowed goal for Pav. Not saying the refs stole the game, but they weren't much help. And, I think the Wings didn't take into account the motivation for the 'Hawks... playing for Wirtz, Lang "proving a point" to his old team, Cheli and Dom being former 'Hawks players (not that they paid much attention to Dom until after he was gone). This is not your last year's Hawks, even missing Havlat... and what a surprise that is; he's already hurt. This wasn't a "statement" game unless you're a Blackhawk fan. And even then, that's reaching a bit, IMO. I am most worried about Mule. We really need him, but that is a statement on my part, I guess, that I worry about our depth with him gone if it's for very long. I suppose it's too early to be too concerned about not making the playoffs, right? I am just kidding on the last statement, before anyone freaks, OK? For anyone worried about Dom, don't be. He tends to start slow, and even with that fact, he's already won one shoot out and the goals last night were not bloopers, they were great shots. He was stellar in the third. We will be fine. Next??

ya'll are so silly... love the pics.

I am not concerned, to begin with. And after reading this, even less than not concerned. Zata says "shoot the puck!" A telling statement from the future captain of the Red Wings (JMO): "He (Hudler) maybe has the same problem as me," Zetterberg said. "He wants to pass a little too much. But he has to be the shooter and we been telling him, too. He knows that and he's got a great shot. Get him shooting, and it's going to be pretty good." Pavel, are you listening, too??? Maybe I won't have to scream myself hoarse this season, yelling SHOOT THE **** PUCK!!! every game.

I was a little ambivalent about Drake coming back to Hockeytown at first. He just earned my respect. Welcome back, Dallas, we needed you! PS - you won that one by default. Perry is a wimp.
-
thank you for the pics! You had great seats, by the way. Glad you got to go to the game, and see the Wings win it!
-
I was hoping for that myself, DG! The last five minutes of the game were a hoot, huh?
-
Sens are very happy with this decision tonight, no doubt about it. Stellar performance from Mr. Heatley tonight.
-
Dallas is going to be OK. They do seem to have very little confidence in Turco, unfortunately, and it hurts them, IMO. The Stars are the come-back team of the universe, giving fans heart attacks nightly by letting games like this get away, and then coming back in the last 10 minutes and either winning (more often than not) or almost winning. Dallas scared the pants off of Colorado tonight in the dying moments of the third, but Budaj saved their bacon for them in the last 2-3 minutes of play. Fun game to watch. Too bad the Turnips won.

Well... I see the board is in fine mid-season form. Cratering at the most crucial moment. Anyone want to complain about Hasek in the SO? He was magnificent. I will say it, since 1) you expect me to, and 2) it's true. Hudler. Babs, you need to use this guy more!!!
-
I hope Hudler gets the GW. Dats sure didn't. SAVE Hasek... too bad, Bert.
-
I don't like shoot outs. The Ducks used to suck at them, though, so perhaps that trend will continue tonight.
-
getting run over is a delay of game? The Duck knocked the net off...
-
oh, this isn't so good... 3-3 in the last minute of OT
-
Giggy better hustle back out there soon. Bryzgalov will make 'em forget about Pads, if he ain't careful.
-
Nick Lidstrom is a god. Zata is right there, too. wow...
-
Not to be argumentative but... see comments such as: " Hasek was awesome for us last spring but I can't help but think that Luongo would have made the saves that Hasek's snow-angels let in. " If we had Luongo instead of Hasek, we'd have won the Cup last season and would be favored this year" So, yes, basically every discussion about goalies eventually, if not sooner, turns into a discussion of how Hasek wasn't the man for the Wings and lost the Cup for them. Fortunately, the Wings think he is the man. Even I would take Luongo over Dom this year, except that it's a pipe dream (pun intended) with the cap.
-
I would have supported Luongo in Detroit wholeheartedly, if the money had been there. It would be good for the team to have a longer-term goaltender who is as elite as Dom, but who would also play for the money he is willing to accept. That wouldn't be Luongo, or anyone else who comes close to Dom's level of skill and experience. We can criticize and second-guess Hasek and Babcock all we want, but fact is the Wings got as far as they did in the playoffs - as in, out of the first round for the first time since 2002 - was with Hasek in the nets. JMO, but Hasek wasn't the reason the Wings lost, just the opposite. What we needed was offense (and two or three fewer questionable goals against) and we'd be singing a different song. Maybe. I still would agree that it would be nice to have a franchise goalie. Every team wants that. Buffalo has it. But they are about it, I think. Stars, maybe, but they trust Turco even less than some of you all trust Dom and Ozzie.

Time Warner finally offered CI yesterday. Way to cut it close, guys. The lady I talked to at TWC wasn't real sure what the NHL is, so she had to go find a supervisor. I could hear him in the background, saying, "It's hockey, put the hockey package on the account." Good lord, I am alone here. Except for hillbillywingsfan, and maybe three other people in this town. Hi, guys!!
-
I am not the only one who notices strange things like this in pictures, I see. It is very odd looking to say the least. Hope they don't drop the poor child on his head. I am wondering why someone has a 6-month old at a hockey game, though...

I can't believe how excited I am about tonight's game. DVR set, since I will probably miss the first perry-odd, due to a work commitment. Wings will come out flying and demolish the Yucks. Go, Wings, go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
