well. I am sure Bobbert loved being a Wing, and I like the guy, myself. But it's a tough world out there, even for pampered hockey players. If you can't or just don't produce in your chosen profession, the competition will get ya every time. We'll be fine without him. Sorry, Langer. I also can see the Rags picking him up. I wish Lang the very best, wherever he winds up.

Should Sergei Fedorov's number be retired in the future?
puckloo39 replied to Chaldean's topic in General
I loved watching Fedorov play for the Wings -- whining and all, he was a beautiful sight to behold. One of the biggest talents/underachievers I've ever seen. I have wondered if the absence (of Shanny, Stevie, and others whom he played off of and who made him look incredible at times) has made his heart grow fonder of what once was? I would take him back right now at a bargain basement price. Yes, I would. He might be re-born as a Wing. Who knows? Doubt it will happen though. And no, he shouldn't get his number retired as a Wing. Lidstrom at some point, yes. He's about it, though, IMO. Few and far between, extraordinary franchise players should have their number in the rafters at the Joe or wherever the Wings end up in the future. Not that I don't appreciate what Feds did for Detroit, of course. I also recognize what Detroit did for Feds in return. -
Most are more creative than a mere dent or two: a history of Cup abuse it's been a lot of places, including the bottom of Mario Lemeiux's pool and Patrick Wah's pool. Never happened where Hasek was concerned, however -- there was water involved, but it wasn't a pool. link Let the Duckies have their fun, done and over. Enough already.

I think the Sens fired the wrong guy, personally. Murray is not the man for the GM job, but Melnyk will find that out the hard way, I suspect. Dave Lewis for Head Coach!!
-
his *ss might not drag the ground, but I believe his knuckles do. That makes me sick, to see that big dent in the Cup. I hope the league makes them pay to fix it. Bad Ducks!
-
Sens shakeup from tsn, Muckler and Murray know the scoop, but it will all be revealed today, sometime. Maybe Dave Lewis can go coach in Ottawa, since Murray could be named GM.
-
Ottawa's dumping Muckler and keeping Murray? That says a lot, and it's not good.

but, but... I thought the Ducks fans were all classy and all that kinda stuff? J/k, there are jerks on every board out there, which doesn't define the whole fan base in Anaheim, right? It's human nature to talk smack about the other team's stars - especially when as a Ducks fan, you know the Red Wings just painted a target on your team for the next few years. It's about time we had a decent rivalry, since Colorado is useless in that regard now. If the Wings had been healthy this season, Anaheim would be watching Detroit's Cup parade. Hence, the excessive complaining about Lidstrom. They can't admit he's better than their guys, it wouldn't be loyal. It would correct, however. Lidstrom is better than that other guy... "what's his name?" and Neidermeyer. This season, anyway, and four other times, for sure. I hope Dats comes to terms with his second Lady Byng win. He's a great player and should be proud of winning that trophy. There are plenty of goons who get the headlines, it's appropriate that a Red Wing win the prize as not only the player with the highest standards of play, but one who gets it done without being a thug to accomplish it. Go, Pavel! Can't wait to see you again in the Fall!! PS - to all you guys yappin' about hot wives? I can cool that off. I can't find the pic anymore of Michelle Roy (Patty Waahhh's wife) in the stands when Patty got smacked for the GWG in one of the 2002 playoff games, but she is one scary lady!! If I were Patty, I would have been afraid to get in a fight with her!

JUNE 15, KUKLA'S KORNER short interview, translated from Czech source, on what made Dom decide to come back to Detroit. Cheli was a big influence, apparently.
-
Congrats to our Captain Nick!
-
I don't care if you spoil the results, they will be available on other websites as well. I don't plan on watching it, other than the segment where Nick wins. And Pavel.
-
good! Too bad he wasn't there. I heard he didn't attend, anyway...
-
I know who won the Masterton.
-
I wouldn't mind if you all post winners here, those who get CBC (I do not, Texas is a bit of a hike from Canada). But not everyone wants spoilers, maybe.
-
I guess we can go look at nhl.com to find out who won. I doubt I will watch it since it is being aired so late and four hours after the fact. Poor hockey, even the network which adopted you doesn't like you. I miss ESPN. nhl.com says the awards start at 7:30PM Eastern, btw. I assume since it's the NHL awards, that would be accurate.
-
It is apparently not being shown live, but WILL air on Versus at 11:00PM Eastern time. I guess some scummy thugg fighter is more of a draw than the NHL. So is everything else on Earth, too. Anyway, there you go, folks... excuse me while I go stop recording the thug-foghters and erase what I have already captured.

Good advice! I don't think there's any issue with number 1 and 2. Hasek's already proved to all but the most cynical fan that he's willing to do whatever it takes. I thought Babcock was excellent last season and look for another just as good. As for number 3, I look forward to seeing the team play all 60 minutes of each game next season. Like it or not, Hasek was pretty much THE reason the Wings won a couple of games in the playoffs, because he held the other team scoreless until the Wings woke up in the last 20 and roared back to win. I know it drove me nuts to see the Wings do that, probably did you guys as well. If the Wings had been healthy, if we hadn't lost Schneider and Homer to injury (say what you will, he was not the same after the Pronger assault) -- we would be planning a Cup parade right now. Rinse and repeat, Red Wings. Just try to stay well next season!
-
None better, regardless of the price. You can't buy what Hasek brings to the game. Welcome back, Dom! I knew you wouldn't leave us again.
-
if it were based on contributions during the season/post season, those figures would be about right.
-
I am pleased and not surprised to see Cheli back. We need him on the ice, setting the tone. You can't really buy that veteran presence or devotion to the game and the Wings. Great deal! Can't wait to see #24 back on the ice in the Fall.

Neither am I, but it escapes me why some people rip on Ozzie. He's a very fine goalie and a wonderful man, no debate here. Detroit just chews up goalies and spits them out, I've never seen anything like it. But with the pain, comes the reward of being a Red Wing, so I guess that's incentive enough for the likes of Ozzie and Dom.

What is your favorite Nicklas Lidstrom moment/play?
puckloo39 replied to Salviaman's topic in General
The Cloutier goal in '02 and anytime Nick has the puck in the PP and is patiently walking it along the blue line, waiting for a chance to slap it home.
