I like this pic, Vezina and Hart times two (1997 and 1998) Nick should win the Norris.

Nah, $1.5 million for Dominik, yes. $5.5 million? Ritch Winter only wishes.

Dom was arguably the bargain of the NHL in 2006-2007. Even with his success this past season, I suspect Dom will be reasonable in order to play one more year. More impressive to me than the low-ball salary was the hard work Dom put in. It took a lot of discipline and effort on his part to stay healthy and play at his best this season. That work ethic also contributed to other aspects of the team's mentality -- that intangible factor you hear about all the time. If Cheli and Dom can show up and work that hard, so should everyone else half their ages. Related thought, sort of. I really hope we get Markov back. I really liked what I saw in him this season. We need someone with a little bit of snarl on his face... besides Chelios.

Vip, my man!! You are a Floydie?? My favorite...

ever heard of Rufus Wainwright? Halleluia this guy is great, if you've ever enjoyed Leonard Cohen, you'll love Rufus. Very original.
-
I agree. Selanne is a great player and a great guy off the ice as well, IMO. I wsh he hadn't sniped at Cheli over the un-handshake, but emotions run high in such situations and I am willing to forget that. Good for Kunitz, also. Be proud, Ferris State!

Fedorov was beautiful to watch. I miss him. So shoot me. Oh, and yes, the chance will come again. I have faith and believe we will bring the Cup home next season, and do it the right way, all the way.

you'd better hope Dom comes back. Giguere isn't coming here (thank goodness) for a billion Belfour bucks. Kenny probably learned that lesson the hard way, about over-paying a goalie in hopes he would carry the team. Ottawa sure learned it with Gerber.
-
I expect his salary demands to be minimal, again. I think he's already proved he's not in it for the money. Some people underestimate just how valuable Dom to the Wings in things other than his stats or his rookie-level paycheck. His numbers were stellar lst season (and the one before), but that's not the point. The Wings are emotionally attached to Dom, as he is to them. They look to his competitiveness and work ethic for inspiration. In short, they need him. It's mutual. The chemistry is right with this team, and Hasek is a huge part of it working. Please make the right decision, Dominik. I know you will.

I agree about Alfie, eva. Emery. I like the guy, he's got style. While he's a consistent goalie, he's never been a game-stealer, not that he should have to be. For all the hype he gets, neither is Giguere. As rick z said, though, it didn't matter who was in net, the team let Ray down. I feel really terrible that Ottawa was so close.

I know just enough about Dom to know... you never know. Wings are a far better team with him than without him. I just can't imagine him disappointing his team mates by leaving, unless he has a really unimpeachable reason. His wife wants to move home and I don't blame her, but it's not as if she hasn't already given up her entire married life to be here with Dom while he plays hockey. One more year wouldn't be the end of the world, I wouldn't think. I am thinking like a woman, I guess (bec. I am one, maybe). If we want to run for the Cup next year - love him or hate him - it's going to be with Hasek in the nets. I love him. Hope to see you in Detroit next Fall, Dom, have a great summer!

maybe the rest of them didn't savor the win, since they know they won it by thugging and lucky bounces and felt guilty? It's possible. Neidermeyer the Conn Smythe? Meh. OK, I guess.

hey, I am sure the three dozen households in the US who were watching enjoyed the game, even if they didn't actually understand what they were watching. Ready to pony up for Centre Ice again in the Fall, especially since my goalie looks to be returning to the Wings. Looking ahead to next season when the Wings will once again bring the Cup home where it belongs. Always believe!!
-
what tradition, Flip? WInning by lucky bounces, officiating and trying to injure other players in the pursuit of the Cup, and being rewarded for it doesn't do much for me. I am glad the Wings won it the right way. I live in the South but I cheer for the Wings. It's a lonely life, I tell ya!
-
I agree, sadly. There's not a lot to believe in any more and this just chips away at one more thing. I am very disappointed in the NHL for letting the game deteriorate the way it has.

Cup Parade in Anaheim...
-
not watching, on purpose, for the first time in a decade. Can't do it...
-
I'm with you. Neither Burke nor Pronger deserve to be under the same roof with the Cup... but what can you do? I am glad for Teemu, and will check websites for pics of him with the Cup tomorrow, so as to avoid seeing that thug, Pronger, touching it.
-
Giggy only had to stand in front of 11 pucks to win the Cup? What a travesty. Oh, well, when's training camp?
-
I think someone in the Ducks organization hates Murray (not that I'd blame them, I do, too) and conspired to keep the Sens off the ice today. Not a good excuse, but really poor taste on the part of the home team to make sure the Sens didn't get to practice. Hockey doesn't belong in California, if they can't provide ice time for visitors, esp. before a deciding game for the Cup. But, anything for a win, right? Where have you been, anyway, T?
-
meh, I've seen worse phantom calls, such as the one leading to the Cup being awarded to the Stars in 1999. Could be worse!! Probably will be at some point...
-
that's OK, I just had a little false hope there for a sec. I can't see the game, just the scoreboard and you guys here. It's fine, I don't think the Sens are planning to put up much of a fight, unfortunately.
-
you watch it for me, HC. I will avoid all images of Pronger touching the Cup, at all costs. He is undeserving of such an honor. Remember Luc, who never touched the Cup in his life until he won it legitimately? But I am glad for Teemu, he really has earned it.
-
poor Emery. Too bad Gerber hasn't seen the light of day since... I don't really recall when. Maybe yanking the goalie would shake the Sens up, but they might as well let Ray go down with the ship, I guess. the goal is ruled no good?
-
thanks, HC. I am still at work, not watching. One SOG by the Sens so far, not gonna win that way, I'd say.
