Did Emery even have a chance? And are the refs going to give this game to Anaheim or are the Sens playing that badly?
-
Ladybug, tell the folks in the Sens forum I said hi, and I wish the Sens all the best, win or lose. Go, Sens, GO!!!!!
-
I believe Alfie. Of course, Scott didn't say anything, since nothing happened worth commenting on. I honestly couldn't care less at this point, Zam. And As for the media, I damned most of them to a very special place in H*** a loooong time ago.

^^ Denying your opponent ice time on the day of a deciding game in the Stanley Cup finals is a poor decision at any level. No comparison to the nice story about some lady and her rink, but... well, that's nice. I don't have any doubts Murray is embellishing and whining about the Sens having no opportunity to practice, however. He's a complete *** in my opinion. Not that it matters. Since Murray used to be GM in Anaheim, this could very well be some sort of payback from someone in the organization. Go, Sens, GO!!!!

Seriously. I haven't seen any lame excuses from Alfie ... not that what Alfredsson did out of frustration compares in any way to the goon tactics of Pronger, which resulted in injuries to players on both the Wings and Sens. Defend him all you want, Pronger is a menace and his behavior is shameful. Thank God for Nick Lidstrom and my Wings.
-
strange is one way to put it... those Ducks, "classy" right up to the end. I have no trouble at all believing the Sens got this sort of treatment. Shame.
-
I haven't bothered to look at write-ups on this "incident," since I fail to see the big hairy deal about a player shooting a puck in a hockey game... But did Alfie make up excuses involving physics or some other act of nature to explain his hideous behavior??
-
I won't be home tonight for the game, and I forgot (perhaps subconciously) to set the DVR. I've never forgotten to set the recorder for a Wings game or anything else that meant anything to me. So I guess that pretty much says it all for me. I am sad to see the Cup go to Anaheim. I look forward to next season, when the Wings win it. PS - I am a long-time Selanne fan, even forgave him the brain-fart of following Kariya (who?) to Colorado. I am very happy for Teemu. And that's about it. Go, Sens??

If Dom does decide to leave, I hope we don't suffer from the dread "Martin Gerber" syndrome. That's where a good team goes out and throws millions at a supposedly stellar goalie, in the hopes he will show up again next season -- and then he doesn't? Ask Ottawa about that. Who says Giguere is the answer? Yes, he's doing fine this season, Last year's playoffs: GAA 3.40 sv% .864 At least if Kenny does this and we get stuck, we have Ozzie to rely on. I know there's no reason to compare, but since the thread is actually about Hasek -- Regular season Dom: SO 8; GAA 2.05; sv% .913 Regular season Giggy: SO 4; GAA 2.26; SV% .918 Salary Dom: $750,000 Salary Pads: $4 million Belfour bucks If Giguere can get a huge contract off of his performances, the way Gerber did in Ottawa, then more power to him where ever he lands this summer.

Ducks; A disgrace to NHL? Trend for good ol' hockey going to the
puckloo39 replied to a topic in General
No offense, but I am really trying to understand why you're even coming here. You're criticizing posters on a Red Wings board -- who support the Red Wings? What do you expect, seriously? The majority of posters here, even if they are a bit harsh in their assessments of all things Wings and other teams, are respected. I don't appreciate your tone at all. Do you really expect fans on this board to roll over and sing the praises of your team? Not that some have not, by the way... I won't be one of them. I am sorry that Pronger and some of your other low-life actors are going to be awarded the most prestigious trophy in sports. But that's the way it goes, I guess. Perhaps next year, the Wings will come back stronger and win it the right way. -
well, that finishes off my horrible day in the same vein. Great. I'm out, ya'll... have a nice evening.

I am in a really bad mood Rockit (not normal for me, but one can only take so much, you know?) and I let that color my comment. Sorry about that. Go, Sens! aarrgghh~~
-
nice goal, Anaheim. Good job, Ottawa, letting them back in the game. Meh...
-
I walk in the door, from a hideous day at work (13 hours) to see Alfie score with a second left. I couldn't be happier. Bury them, Sens!! Make 'em "waddle" the plank! aarrgghhh!!!!* That's for you, Capt'n Osgod.

Ducks; A disgrace to NHL? Trend for good ol' hockey going to the
puckloo39 replied to a topic in General
I'd only consider it a good trend if a) the Wings learn to start playing hockey that way, too, and b) they also get away with it. Savvy! I doubt Homer shares our amusement, however. Oh, wait, it was his fault for not having his helmet on the right way, I forgot. -

Ducks; A disgrace to NHL? Trend for good ol' hockey going to the
puckloo39 replied to a topic in General
Duckette, like many a true fan of her team, is in denial about how the team actually behaves. Dom has no reason to complain about the action below??? The fact is , he didn't complain, and nothing like this ever got called by the refs... ever. If a Red Wing had even thought about touching Pad-Boy in such a fashion, the refs would have thrown as many Wings as would fit into the sin bin. There would still be Wings in the box, even though the series is over. There is no comparison in terms of abuse of the goalie and what the Yucks got away with... none. -
For those still watching -- Storyline: If the Senators lose this game, it will only be a matter of time before the Ducks win their first Stanley Cup. This is the most important game in Ottawa's modern history. What they have to do to be successful is find a way to create some scoring chances and get some shots on goal. Positives: The Ducks are now 11-2 in one-goal games this playoff season. That's one short of the post-season record shared by the 2003 Ducks and the 1993 Canadiens. Of the 30 home teams who won the first two games of the Stanley Cup final since the best-of-seven format was introduced in 1939, 29 went on to win the series. The only team that lost was the 1971 Chicago Blackhawks. Ottawa's Wade Redden, Anton Volchenknov and Tom Preissing led both teams with four blocked shots each in Game 2. Corey Perry and Rob Niedermayer led the Ducks with four shots each. The Senators blocked 20 shots to Anaheim's 13. Mike Fisher and Volchenkov led the Senators with four hits each. The Ducks were 59 per cent in the faceoff circle. Negatives: In Game 2, Daniel Alfredsson led both teams with six giveaways. Jason Spezza was close behind with four. Of Ottawa's forwards, Dean McAmmond, Chris Neil, Chris Kelly, Antoine Vermette and Christoph Schubert didn't have a shot in Game 2. Surprisingly, the Ducks had 22 giveaways. The Senators were only 41 per cent in the faceoff circle. Shawn Thornton played the least amount of time on either team, at two minutes 22 seconds. Oleg Saprykin, in for Patrick Eaves, played the least amount of time on the Senators (7:31). Who's missing: Senators: no one (aside from Martin Gerber, who disappeared early last season under mysterious circumstances). Ducks, LW Chris Kunitz (broken right hand) Go, Sens, Go... this one is the Cloutier Game, and will turn the series, one way or the other.

Pronger at it again: elbow to McAmmond's head
puckloo39 replied to zetterbergfuturemvp's topic in General
It's OK, Duckette. We're not after you, not at all. There just is no excuse for Pronger, although he certainly can come up with them in a heartbeat. Along with the "physics theory, my favorite excuse to date is that he "can't remember" what he did last night to McAmmond. It ranks right up there with your GM saying Homer got hurt because he didn't have his helmet on correctly. Do you see why we are derisive and condemning of certain aspects of your darling Duckies?? Burke and Pronger do not define the Ducks' organization, but they ARE the face of it, like it or not. There isn't a Red Wing (not even Bert) who would think of doing and saying the junk that is coming out of Anaheim right now. I think it's sad that Pronger thinks he should skate away from this incident and be held blameless in what he did to Homer, as well. He's delusional, or else he's just plain dirty. And I hate him. Anyway, none of this is directed at you personally, OK? But I, for one, do not buy any sort of excuses or defense for Pronger. And I am sorry his behavior and Burke's comments reflect on your team. One bad apple is all it takes, sweetie, and you guys have got a really smelly one in your locker room. I hope the Sens beat the stuffing out of the Ducks, and we get to watch a great team from Ottawa carry the Cup. -
Maybe they want another house somewhere else in the area? There could be a good reason, like this one was just for the season, when his family wasn't here all year or something. Guess we will find out.

Pronger at it again: elbow to McAmmond's head
puckloo39 replied to zetterbergfuturemvp's topic in General
So you're saying Chara is the golden boy here, and not poor little Chrissy?? Please. Duckette, you're a sweetie and we like you, but come on, now. It was a terrible hit, and Pronger should be held accountable. EOS. -
Pronger at it again: elbow to McAmmond's head
puckloo39 replied to zetterbergfuturemvp's topic in General
I predict that next season, hits like this will be an automatic suspension. You make an excellent point that Zdeno Chara is even taller than CheapShot is, and somehow seemed able to control his elbows and even remember after a game what he did! It's amazing!!!! Pronger should be suspended for his own good, really... someone who blacks out after a dirty hit on an opponent's players isn't safe out there. It's a rough game. Those who don't get that the hit on Dean was suspension worthy don't know what they're talking about (and/or are blind-homer Ducks fans). After Pronger took out Homer, he was dead to me for good. Now he's "deader" if that's a word. Good luck to the Sens, and I hope they come out next game (and then two more after that) and annihilate the Yucks in the right way. Shame them off the ice with clean, well-played hockey. I know the Sens can do it! I am sorry SWF... son of a dammit. Is it coincidental that Pronger now says he "can't remember" what he did to McAmmond? It's an epidemic of black outs!! -
Pronger at it again: elbow to McAmmond's head
puckloo39 replied to zetterbergfuturemvp's topic in General
Dear NHL: please make the big, ugly cheap-shotting giraffe go away. Thank you, xoxo Loooo -
you mean because Dom looks so small? I don't think he has all his armour on. Ozzie played so great that game, I think maybe Dom is missing some of his gear since he knew he wasn't going to be needed. And Ozzie and Dom both are much smaller than Giggy in the first place. JSG outweighs Dom by 40 pounds without equipment on. Not defending Giggy or his pads here, since I think he is inflated, in so many ways besides physically, as well.
-
forgettable, indeed! Pronger is such an ***, I would love to forget him permanently. "I don't know," Pronger said, when asked if he might face disciplinary action, even though he wasn't penalized for the hit. "I was just stepping up and finishing my check and I don't really know what happened after that." Now, he has amnesia??? Please suspend him for the playoffs, NHL. This is not an example of what the sport is about. Anyone want to argue this was a clean hit? I didn't think so...
